Dream Life

Episode 61: Visit to the Imperial Academy: Previous

I was taken by Lady Victoria, Viscount of Radford, in front of the Imperial Academy of Higher Studies south of the aristocratic district.

"What do you think? Pretty good stuff."

Lady Victoria smiles and says so, but she doesn't get the word to return it.

Before I got here, I had my head full of the fact that Master Zach and the others would meet with His Excellency the Chancellor, but for a moment in the sight in front of me, so much so that I forgot about it.

There is a beautiful sight in front of me that I think is a palace.

A four-story brick building with a white stone laid road and a large fountain, a lawn-laid garden, and a large clockstand in the center ahead.

On the road a student wearing a short cloak of dark blue holds the book in one hand and walks in a pleasant conversation with his friends.

The word that finally came out was "su, that's amazing".

"If it's just the way it looks and the size of it, I'm not gonna take it to Tilia's School of Magic in Doctus."

That's what you said, but it's actually not comparable at all.

Since the Tilia School of Magic diverts buildings for the castles and knights of Doctus, it is no different from the fortified city buildings everywhere if only they look, and the College itself is narrow, two hundred meters wide (melt) and only about a hundred melts deep.

The premises here at Imperial Academy are about 1 km (Kimmel) to the east and west and about 500 m (Melt) to the north and south, and Doctus is large enough to cover half the area of the Old Town.

I sincerely thought it was a great school with openness in the thickness as well as the size.

"But, you know, the contents are no big deal. It doesn't even extend to Doctus' private school."

"Oh, really? It doesn't look like that to me at all."

"As a graduate, I say, no doubt about it. Huuuuuuuuuu..."

Master Victoria says so and laughs, but I don't think that's where she laughs.

"Let's go more than that"

"What? Don't you want a reception or something?

'Cause this place is free for anyone who can get in and out of the aristocracy.'

That's what I say and start walking.

The Tilia School of Magic explained the reason for the visit and so on at the entrance, and I couldn't get in without depositing my weapon.

I do have special permits to enter the aristocratic district, and I guess there's no safety problem because strict checks will be carried out, but I wonder if that means even merchants who have dealings with aristocrats can get in.

There's got to be some precious books, but you're not free to go in and lose them? The question comes to my mind, but without speaking of it, I follow Master Victoria without delay.

Victoria weaves a coat of white fur in a deep green dress with a simple feel, and I walk with her in blue clothes often worn by the knights of the Empire, white trousers, and a black leather boot with a long sword.

It's far from the atmosphere of this academy, and I guess it just looks like a lady and her escort who came to see how your son is doing.

"My daughter said she'd rent Lawrencia's salon, so I'll go there first."

I don't even have to wonder if I can get a civilian in the Duke's Salon, but that's not the atmosphere to ask. I had no choice but to follow Master Victoria, but as I approached the building, I noticed it was noticed from the surroundings.

I still don't know if it's because I'm floating, but I'm really worried about my gaze even though I know I'm not the enemy because I'm a scoundrel.

Once inside the school building, it's brighter than I thought.

The buildings in Teito are generally bright because they use a lot of glass, but I guess the arrangement of windows for brightness is particularly good here.

Despite the time still before ten o'clock, the light entering the diagonal illuminated the polished corridor, never concerned about the shadow.

There are many people in the school building who greet Victoria, and each time they stop.

And I will always see who I am, but before they ask, Victoria will introduce me first.

"Felicia's fiancée (...), it's you, Dan Jakes. That (...) who will be brother-in-law in the heart of Sir Zacharias Lockhart."

Master Zach's name was more known than I thought. Every time I introduce you to me, I'm amazed at how "the head of the Tilia Academy of Magic..."

"We all know Lord Zacharias because this is where we compete with the Tilia School of Magic."

When you think I'm going to be, you snort.

"But no one knows about the real Sir Zacharias. You're such a liquor lover... huhuhuhu..."

That's what winks at me. [M]

Hi. I don't like this guy. I guess it's because there's no one around me who does these things.

I don't like it, but I don't hate it. I just want you to give me a break for making fun of me, but now I can't help but worry about Master Zach and the others, and I think he cares more than usual for me.

Up the stairs in the school building. The railings are shinily polished up like luxury furniture, and the light that plugs through the window reflects.

The stairs are decorated with many paintings that look tall, and the dance floor is filled with flowers in a large vase. It must be hard to get all these flowers together in this season of the middle of February, and I think about that before beauty.

When I went up to the fourth floor, two soldiers stood solidifying themselves in armor.

"It's Victoria Radford. This is Dan Jakes. Lawrence Ezarrington's salon."

"I'm listening. Come through."

Without checking the orb, that's all it takes to get through. Looks like you don't have to keep my sword, and I felt like security was sweet.

"I've been here many times, so it's a facial pass. The truth is, I'm gonna check the orb for identification."

"Can I bring in my sword?

"Yeah, I'm fine. Since the Empire has grown in force, it will not deposit its sword, which is a symbol of force. No magician's wand, of course."

When I went out into the hallway thinking it was something like that, there was a red carpet laying there.

"From here, there are more rooms than the Count's. So it's better than the rest of the floor."

I'm convinced. Flowers are decorated not only on the carpet, but also at the window, and the atmosphere is different from that of the other floors.

Master Victoria stops and says, "Here I am," pointing to the door.

And then he knocks and goes inside. I smell tea when I go inside.

And one woman stood at the window.

It turned backlit by the light of the window and the face was not well visible, but the fluttering and spreading beautiful blonde hair looked like a yarn made of real gold.

"Nice to meet you," he greets me, and in a hurry I bow my head too.

"I'm Dan, a minister of the Lockhart family and a man of Guy Jakes."

"I'm Felicia Radford. I'm sorry I forced you to hang out with my mother's wickedness. I'm really someone who takes these things seriously, my mother."

"Oh, this is good for you too, Dan. Plus, you're into it."

Suddenly, the mother-daughter interaction starts and I get confused about what to do.

"Look, Dan, you're in trouble because it's weird. And I don't know what to talk about."

"Right. Now, Master Jakes, this way, please."

It is called by the Viscount Lady to further solidify.

"Please call me Jakes or Dan. Dear Sir..."

Felicia looks back at my words. [M]

The angle of light just changed and my face was clearly visible.

Like Victoria, a nostril, slightly sharp jaw line appeared through her white skin, her pale eyes staring at me feeling a little cold.

"Oh, we're fiancées. It is only natural for a wife to set up a hall to be her husband."

I don't know if that's the right thing to do.

I guess Victoria made fun of me because she said, "Look, Dan, I won't bother you any more" when I was in trouble.

I've only seen him for a few minutes, but I convinced him that these places are parents and children.

"I'm sorry. Then I'll let you call me Dan, too. Call me Felicia, too."

"Now let me call you Lady Felicia"

Victoria was laughing at me the way I said it, but I urged her to sit in the chair.

As soon as we sat around the round table at the window, the maid in the back brought the tea.

A thin teacup, white as paper, is on a beautifully painted plate.

I wonder how much this will cost, but in my case, I don't get nervous because I often use Master Zach's glass.

"Sounds fine," Master Felicia said.

Tilting his neck,

"The cup and saucer belong to Lawrencia. I mean, it's owned by the Duke of Etherlington, and it's very expensive. You normally took it after you figured out its value. I'm sorry to say this, but the Lockhart family is nothing but a knight on the border from the nobility of the Imperial City. Many people think the minister is no different than just a soldier. I thought if I could be that grand, I'd be fine up ahead."

"You know, you can say that a lot even though you're new to each other. I can't have a fiancée because of that personality."

Victoria said she liked Felicia.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Dan. Half a month, so bear with me."

"I hear my personality is like that of a mother..."

Sounds like a poisonous tongue reward, but you two are having fun. Maybe you're paying attention so I'm not nervous.

I seem to have smiled before I know it, and the two of you realize it and look at me.

"Are you frightened?" Felicia says, "The Lockhart family has no choice but to be honest," Victoria replies instantly.

"No, I thought it sounded like fun... sorry"

That's what I say and I bow my head.

"Fair enough. Now, let me explain what I'm going to do," Victoria began to say with a serious look.

"You two are fiancées decided by both houses. I was a correspondent, but I first met him today. And then we look around the academy and the Imperial Capital..."

Lady Victoria's explanation was as I had heard it before.

Walk as conspicuously as you can with Master Felicia and appeal to her to be her fiancée if she knows her.

He told me he'd have trouble expecting me to act.

"Dan, you can stay put. Because it's more natural to feel a little troubled swinging by this kid."

I haven't heard the details, but Master Felicia seems to be a freelancer.

"Quick, but show him the academy. If possible, try to show it to someone you know. Okay, Felicia?

"I know," Lady Felicia says, swelling her cheeks a little. I thought it was cuter than the first impression.

"I'm going to greet Lawrencia. I'll show you everything till evening."

"What are we going to do with the afternoon lecture? I'd like to leave."

"Rest" is immediately denied. Master Felicia is complaining a little.

"I'll be waiting somewhere during the lecture."

When I said that, Victoria asked Felicia, "What's the afternoon lecture?"

"It's math. Geometry."

"I want to go out on something that gives me such a headache, I can't believe it... well fine. You still have the audience system. I'll sign up for it, so come with me."

I know what geometry is when I ask Master Zach, but he doesn't like me. It's a discipline that calculates the area of shapes and the length of the sides.

Look at my face. Lady Victoria laughs.

"Because even if you don't know, you just have to ask. Neither did I."

"It's okay because I'll tell you," Lady Felicia also encourages.

"Maybe you have no idea, so don't worry about studying"

After we talked about it, we got up.

When I tried to speak to Lady Felicia, Lady Victoria spoke with a different serious voice than before.

"You'll be worried about Sir Zacharias, but there's nothing you can do right now. I hate to say it, but it's true. So now think about protecting yourself. Because that's what's most useful to those people."

"Thank you. Right. I'll do what I can."

That's what I say and I bow my head.

"Let's talk about it," he says, wrapping his left arm around my right arm.

Master Felicia has a black and white checked skirt about knee length on a white blouse. And he's wearing something like a short cloak with a black vest and dark blue.

I have a soft feeling on my right arm and my face gets hot.

I'm sure it's turning bright red. Without worrying about me like that, I said, "Okay, let's go," and I started walking.

She's taller for a woman, but she feels about fifteen cm (Semel) lower than me, and her fluffy hair tickles her ears when she starts walking.

I just went outside the school building, and I laugh nicely, "You're surprised," he said.

"I'm always like that with your mother, but we're not so close."

"Yeah, I knew it right away."

Talking like that, I'm going to stroll around the school.

This neighborhood is a college of higher learning, which means there are many students as old as me. I felt like a lot of people were reading books outside without taking classes after 10am.

If you ask me about that,

"It's a free school style here......" I laughed nicely after you said. The laugh felt a little sad.

"I just want to say... Few people are serious about studying because grades are mostly determined by the title. There's only a handful of people like me and Lawrence who are serious about it."

I've heard from Master Zach that the Imperial Academy adds a score by the title, and that no younger brother than the Count family falls unless he's also malbehaving, and if he studies a little, he can be at the top.

"That's why I want to see Sir Zacharias. Because he was the chief at that Tilia School of Magic. And to your sister Sharon."

"I think Master Felicia would feel comfortable. Because we both liked to study. I can't do it at all."

After a short walk, sit on the bench where the wood leak falls.

Here in the southern part of the Empire it is warm if there is sunshine even in the middle of winter, so it will not be bitter for a short time.

Talking for about thirty minutes, I felt my gaze again. Several female students peered at us from behind the school building.

When I turned my gaze on them, I fled in a hurry. Looks like he was still looking at us.

I headed to the student cafeteria for lunch.

"Don't expect too much flavor. Because it's not comparable to the Lockhart family meal that your father admires."

"We don't eat delicious food every day either."

"Really? But that's amazing. I can't believe that father admired it. The first time I heard it, I was surprised to hear it."

"Dear Zach, No, because Master Zacharias is a person who is bound by alcohol and meals. That's surprising, too."

"That sounds interesting. I want you to tell me your usual story..."

With all that excitement, we head to the student cafeteria.

It also appears that there is a difference between titles here, with canteens divided into three places: for senior aristocrats above the count, for lower aristocrats below the count, and for civilians. We headed to the cafeteria for the lower nobles.

A little early in the day at noon, but many students had already lined up.

Meals are free, so I'll take whatever I want.

"You should stop with that meat. And the fish. Because it doesn't taste good. I think we can still eat stew over here..."

I'm going to pick a meal for both of us, but I'm really concerned about the gaze around you.

"Because I rarely dine with men. I'm usually with the Lawrencians or alone..."

When I thought it was something like that, one puffy boy student stood in front of us.

"If you think of someone, isn't it Miss Felicia? I'm surprised you're with a man."

"It has nothing to do with Master Mortimer. I'll get in the way of everyone around you. Can't stay out of the way."

Surroundings abound in an evil atmosphere.

"Who is that man? I'm pretty sure he's not a student."

"This is my fiancé, Mr. Dan Jakes."

In a place called Fiancée, a boy student called Mortimer distorts his face greatly.

"Jakes? Never heard of it. Some country knight or something, but it's blind. Get lost."

And I told him to come out and squeeze his jaw at me.

"We have your permission in Lawrencia's name? Or would you like to check now? Damien from the Mortimer family said to leave because he didn't like Lawrencia's customers."

"Yes, no, there's no problem with Lawrencia's customers... but are you sure she's your fiancée? I've never heard that before."

"I won't lie to you. I know Lawrencia and Primrose, but I just didn't feel the need to tell you."

Master Felicia doesn't seem to like this man named Mortimer. I don't really want to get involved, either.

He was intercepted and couldn't say anything, leaving the dining room puffy and angry.

"I'm sorry to offend you. You know, I'm really gonna have a lot of trouble with that kind of deal."

"No. Master Felicia is nothing wrong. I think the other side is worse now."

Looks like there's still a lot going on here, just like Master Zach and his sister were in a bully at the School of Magic.

The meal was no big deal, as Master Felicia said. The dining room meal I ate the day after I came to the Imperial City is so much better.

When I tell you about it,

"You have that place. I'm out of town in Seawell City, but barely out of the aristocracy in Imperial City. I'm really jealous."

She said she could put wine on the meal, but she didn't drink it because she didn't recommend it. I thought maybe Master Zach would drink it out of curiosity even if he knew it was unpleasant, and I also talked about it.

"You're really just like your father. Even if I say it's not delicious, I always look at the taste alone. And then I'm always angry," Is there anything a little better? "That's crazy."

"Same goes for Master Zach. Because he often says," If we manage it more closely, it will be somewhat better. "

And the two of us looked at each other and erupted at the same time.
