Dream Life

Episode 62: Visit to the Imperial Academy: The Later Story

I came to the Imperial Academy of Higher Studies to see Viscount Felicia Radford.

I was led inside the school in the morning to catch the eye of many to disguise myself as my fiancée and ate in the student cafeteria.

In order to take the afternoon lecture, I will once return to the salon of the Duke and Duke of Laurencia Ezarrington to pick up Felicia's teaching materials, etc.

Lawrencia and Primrose were there.

"Oh, you look really close," Lawrencia said.

"I'm having fun. This is rarely possible."

"Right. I've really enjoyed the last half month or so, too. It's a corner, so have fun too."

That's where I saw him. Unlike before, he stares at me with a serious look.

"Jakes, I have something to tell you too"

I live there right. [M]

"Here is a thumbnail of the aristocratic society. You'll be fine because Felicia's here, but be very careful, too. There will be plenty of people looking down on you in particular, and not necessarily anyone making fun of Sir Zacharias. Short temperatures here can cause a lot of trouble for your home. Remember that in your liver."

"Thank you. We will not forget Lawrencia's words."

Saying so, he bows his head and looks up, striking a different and gentle look from the harsh look he had had until then.

This guy felt a little bad at first, but he's really a good guy.

I think he told me that he was worried about this one.

Exit the salon and head to the classroom.

The students who finished their meals are walking the same way, but it feels like they're somehow distancing themselves from us. I guess outsiders will still be wary.

Once in the classroom, it was a large room with more than a hundred people in it, and the seats were high enough to go behind them, lined up to arc around the classroom.

I thought it was better behind me, but Felicia said, "It's a corner, let's hear it in front of you" and I sat right in front of the lecture.

I had no choice but to sit next to it, but the son of Count Mortimer, who had just gotten involved, approached me.

When you think it's troublesome, you're involved.

"Are you going to listen to a three-year math lecture in higher education? Well, don't just sleep to keep Miss Felicia from scratching her shame. Kukukuku......"

I left a disgusting laugh and sat right in the back seat.

Lady Felicia said, "Never mind," and whispered even more, "I'm sorry. Because I brought him here," he lowered his head small.

"It's okay. I'm used to this sort of thing."

In fact, when I just became an adventurer in Doctus, Mel and I have been ridiculed many times when we went to training.

It's not that I wasn't angry, but I don't even know how those people feel. But I don't.

If a twelve-year-old is in the Adventurer Guild training ground, it's not strange to want to tease him.

I think the same thing happened this time.

From those who have studied seriously, I guess I somehow don't like the countrymen listening to lectures at the best schools in the Empire.

Lawrencia also entered the classroom with a woman who looked like a friend and sat beside us.

About half the classroom was filled, and the instructor came.

A man in his late thirties or so glasses, he has a teaching whip on his right hand and a textbook-like book on his left.

I look at me as a chill, but I look at Lawrencia-sama and I nod small, so I guess the conversation is going through. Ignoring me, I started the class.

I don't have a textbook, so I'm looking at Felicia's stuff with me, but I'm really excited because my face gets so close.

I concentrated on textbooks to deceive it.

"What?" I shouted unexpectedly.

It wasn't loud, but it sounded like Master Felicia could hear me, and I was seen with a strange face.

"Is this the high school textbook?," he whispered.

I wondered because it was too simple. [M]

The problem is that a trapezoidal picture with a bottom edge of 10 cm (semel), a top edge of six semels, and a height of five semels is drawn, and the area is sought.

It is easy to solve this if it is officially applied, so even a child as young as ten can solve it if he can study the village of Rasmore.

"Do you see this, Dan?" I've heard it whisper, so I nod quietly and write “forty square semels," which is the answer to my notes.

It is so simple that I solve it by arithmetic without having to write it on paper.

What Mel and I learned when we were in Doctus was hard to crack.

"There is a glass that combines a hemispherical shape of six semels in diameter with the lower third of a cone of six semels in diameter and eighteen semels in height. How many cc if you put a scotch up to three quarters of that glass height"

It feels like.

I can't calculate without knowing the formula for asking for the volume of the sphere and the volume of the cone, but if I'm not good at multiplying it more than that, it takes time.

I learned the most about this problem when I was about thirteen years old, and it can become a question of how many hours the quarterbarrel will be gone if the Dwarf hundreds drink five cups in thirty minutes after this glass.

With that said, I feel like it was always a matter of alcohol for some reason, but I guess it's my fault.

Turning back, I think they taught me about ten years ago, maybe when I was seven or eight, the kind of problem I could just replace with such an official. So I didn't think it was a matter for third-year students at the Academy of Higher Studies to do it.

A brief problem ensues, and each time Felicia asks me in a written statement. The last one also had the problem of getting a fraction in, but that wasn't a big deal either.

You were watching that, and your voice goes up from behind.

"There's no way a country knight can tell, so don't waste your efforts"

A student named Mortimer has been making a pretty loud fool of himself.

I remember Lawrencia's words and, without disputing them, I looked forward. Master Felicia said something and turned around, but she reluctantly shut up because I stopped her.

When I shut up, Mortimer shouts louder than he thinks he's been ignored.

"It's nice to ignore me in the Count's house."

I wondered if I could scream like that in class, but keep looking forward without saying anything.

You don't like the attitude, it got even higher and stood up.

The lecturer had noticed from the beginning but until now he had continued his lecture without saying anything. But you just thought it would get in the way.

"Lord Mortimer, I'm lecturing now. Will you be quiet?"

Can't you say it strongly against the Count family, I teach it more gently than words?

"This is the one who's getting in the way of my studies. You seem to be explaining it in front of me, and I'm blind."

I didn't think it was a good idea to rub any more, so I tried to get up to get out of the classroom. Then, now Master Felicia holds my arm and smiles nicely.

"Dear Mortimer, I'm sorry. But you seem to be mistaken."

I was wondering what you were going to say, and he took my arm and made me stand up. And I started talking to them all.

"My fiancée (...), Master Dan Jakes, has solved all the problems so far. In a very short time, too. How much better than me."

"Really? Sure, if it's Lord Zacharias' belly, I don't know, but it's not."

That's what Lawrencia says and speaks to Lady Felicia.

The last time I looked at me, I nodded. [M] I don't know what the signal is, but I have a bad feeling about it somehow.

"They're making a face that Mr. Mortimer isn't convinced. I need a favor from my teacher, but I need you to give him a little trouble."

The instructor was perplexed for a moment, but immediately nodded, thinking he could not refuse an order (...) in the name of the Duke's request.

"Jakes, go forward. And you solve the problems the teacher puts out. Don't be ashamed if you can't, but do your best for your master."

I was confused at first, but I found out this guy was playing Dear Zach's fiancée. I'm Zach's minister, and you're making me look like you're ordering over Felicia's head because you're her fiancée.

I know it's awesome in this situation, but I also want you to be me in front of so many people doing math problems.

Still, I can't be backed down by the name of my master, or Master Zach.

"Accepted. Dear Lawrencia.Dear Felicia, it's good to see you."

I'll do the best I can.

I don't know if this fits, but I guess you were right because the people around you are surprised at what you called the Duke of Ezarrington's warrant by your first name.

"Good luck," Master Felicia nodded.

"I guess I can't get my hands or feet out anyway......" Mortimer says, but I took the stage without worrying.

Soon the blackboard had problems written on it.

“Find the length of an arc with a radius of five semels and an angle of sixty degrees."

It was politely even painted, but it was easy enough to calculate with almost computation.

However, Zach taught me that I had to write a proper calculation process at a time like this, so I derive the answer "5.23” by calculating the circumference and then multiplying it by sixty/360, or one sixth.

"It's such an easy problem, anyone can tell," Mortimer exclaims. I felt the exact same way about this, so I snorted. [M]

It seems to have set his anger on fire even more, and it's making fun of me.

The instructor looks at Lawrencia, but is prompted to ask another question, so he begins to write problems on the blackboard with the look of having no choice.

“Find the diagonal lengths of the rectangles of three, four, and five semels."

This is easy too.

All you have to do is calculate the length of the diagonal line between the three and four semel faces and take the square root of the resulting squares plus the five semel squares.

Write "7.07” on the blackboard as the answer.

It's difficult to calculate the square root, but I know it because Master Zach has taught me. This is because when you go out for reconnaissance, you need to calculate the travel distance when you travel in triangular form. Of course, I usually write and calculate on the ground because I can't calculate anything.

As I finish my calculations and look back, Mortimer is solidifying as he stands.

Master Felicia gave me a surprised look at how unexpected it was to be able to do the math, but somehow Lawrencia was laughing at Nico.

"Doctor, I don't think I'm wrong, but what do you think?

When Lawrencia says so, the instructor nods, "It fits".

That word prompts the classroom to begin to get zazzled.

Returning to her seat, Lady Felicia was circling her eyes saying, "I can't believe I solved that difficult problem easily,"

"That's my fiancée! Wonderful!"

Praise me out loud during class.

I don't know what to say here so I just shut up and bow my head.

After the lecture, Lawrencia came to us.

"I'm surprised. Sir Zacharias or your sister would have convinced me that you were in college, too."

"No. Master Zacharias just told me. Warriors also told us to remember that we need to learn... and the instructor went out of his way to ask us a simple question."

"I don't think so... Felicia, would you have solved that problem?

Lady Laurencia asked Lady Felicia that.

"You might have been able to think slowly, but I'm not too sure."

"Right. I think there are a lot of people who didn't even have lectures. Are you studying history, literature, etc?

"I'm learning a brief history. When it comes to literature, do you mean Mount Love stories or Mentown poems?

"Yeah, that's right. That's amazing. I'm surprised the neighborhood squire just knows his name."

Lady Laurencia has her eyes rounded.

Mount Love is an Ars writer about a hundred years before he wrote a somewhat unusual story, and his work called "Dwarf's Life", which wrote Dwarf's Life funny, is a masterpiece.

The other Mentown is an imperial poet who wrote many poems about alcohol.

Both are books that Master Zach has found that he said are good for adding more vocabulary to.

With that said, I think we had a lot to talk about somehow defending our liquor lovers, but I guess this is also my fault.

I've heard stories so far and thought about it.

I realized that the level of education in the village of Rasmore was unusually high, or lower than I thought elsewhere.

In my case, I have taught Zach and Lydia a lot since I was a little girl, and I didn't think anything of it because I lived in the academic city of Doctus, but it feels like even nobles who can afford money haven't studied.

If it's today's problem, I think it's easy to solve it, not just for me, Mel. Maybe even Theo and the others could.

"With that said, my father told me that the level of education in the village of Rasmore is more than imperial. You think there's a fine school and little kids go to? Isn't that right, Dan?

"Yes. I come to school early from a child about three years old. Of course, since the study got bigger, but letters and numbers should have been taught since that time."

When I answer Felicia's question, Lawrencia closes her eyes even more.

"Since I was three years old... what a really amazing place, the village of Rasmore..."

I was talking about that, and Mortimer got involved again.

"I guess they were telling me the answer! Even I don't know, but you can't possibly tell by the chivalry!

I know you can say this a lot before Lawrencia is around, but I don't know what to do because I'm outraged and I feel like I'm forgetting.

Felicia stood up resolutely when I was in trouble.

"Are you making fun of my fiancée? Besides, it was Lawrencia who gave me permission to listen. Would you like to say that Lawrencia of the Duke of Ezarrington's house was turned around by a lecturer?

There were still many students around, listening to our conversation.

Looks like Mortimer finally realized he was rambling there. Lady Felicia said nothing more, but Lawrencia stared at Mortimer a little colder,

"Would Mr. Mortimer like to say that I, the eldest daughter of the Duke of Ezarrington (...), have committed injustice?

Mortimer doesn't get the word out just because it's mundane to the word.

"I'll add one more thing: Jakes here is a Lockhart family minister. If it seems to insult me any more, I will apply to you for a duel in my name."

That's when I finally realized I wasn't a knight. [M]

I've been grinning and disputing that I could afford it.

"His status is too low in the Lockhart family ministry. It should be unacceptable for a knight's ministry to set a sword on me in the Count's house."

Lady Laurencia was laughed at by Nicole. I don't know why that grin is, but I was so scared.

"Alas, if the duel with the Viscount minister is dissatisfactory, I ask Sir Zacharias. If that's the one, fight me if I ask you to. Isn't that right, Jakes?

I couldn't keep up with this accomplishment and could only say yes.

Mortimer blues to Lawrencia's words. You must be hearing rumors about Master Zach.

"Well, the words earlier were my mistake. also, sorry!

Apologizing in a hurry, he tried to escape the scene and walked away.

He then returned to Lawrencia-like's salon.

There Lady Victoria was waiting, gracefully drinking tea.

"You can do it, Felicia," Lawrencia says.

"That would have been nice. Lawrencia just stirred up Lady Mortimer, as she instructed."

"Me and Sir Zacharias, you and Jakes are going to be rumors at the Academy about this. It will be passed on exaggerated, especially to the Earl of Mortimer's, so it will soon be passed on to the Duke of Ingolslop's."

Apparently, the Mortimers are the homes that take them to the Ingolthrop family.

"Tell my little Clement it's going well, Victoria."

"I got it," said Lady Victoria, bowing her head, but immediately laughing at Nico,

"And Lawrencia is a fighter, too. I can't believe you let the Mortimers get involved with this in advance."

"Oh, I wasn't thinking that much. I just happened to have a chance to talk to Mr. Mortimer..."

It keeps talking in front of me, but I don't know what to do, and I just have to shut up.

Lady Laurencia glanced at me like that and smiled at Nicole. The smile wasn't what I found horrible earlier, it was warm.

"Your father contacted me. He said the interview with His Excellency the Chancellor went well. He says he has no particular blame on the Lockhart family. Good for you."

"Oh, thank you!

I was very relieved and I kept my head down a lot since I got up. [M]

"I hear you're having a banquet with the Blacksmith Guild tonight. No more concerns, and have fun."

After I say that much, I look away with a slightly lonely look on my face.

"I wanted to go too if I could..."

And he turned to me and to Lady Felicia.

"Tomorrow is dinner at the Etherlington family. Come with me, both of you. Because your father is going to surprise Sir Zacharias with lots of delicious things to prepare."

"Are you sure? I heard it unexpectedly. It would have been disrespectful to say this to the Duke's Lady, but I couldn't believe that I, a civilian, had been invited to a formal dinner party at the Duke's house.

"It's okay. This is what I asked your father to do. And this thing should be a rumor in a lot of places. That I have invited my stomach for Sir Zacharias. You know what that means."

I say yes with confidence. [M]

This is part of the act that Lawrencia is obsessed with Master Zach.

I guess it's a setting where a novice Lawrencia who wants Zach to turn around says he can't do it.

"Felicia would be nice, too, wouldn't she? I know you don't like dinner parties, but tomorrow we have the red wine from Mulan Village that your father and Sir Zacharias admired. Because it's worth joining even if you can just drink that."

Master Felicia nods with a happy face.

Only Viscount Radford's daughter, perhaps without eyes for gastronomy and wine.

He then returned to the mansion of Lord Victoria and the Marquis of Seawell.

They asked me a lot on the road, but I feel so tired.

(I'll be heading to the banquet as soon as I get back, but I guess Zach and the others will ask me about root digging leaf digging tomorrow...)
