Dream Life

Episode XVI: Homecoming

June 27th.

I arrived at my home village of Rasmore.

More than six months after I left last December 15th. There was a lot going on, but there was no major problem, and I'd say we got through it safely.

When I enter the village, the villagers greet me enthusiastically.

Compared to when I was in college, I was just away for a subtle period, not long or short, of six months, but my hometown is still good.

"You feel like you're finally home," he tells Liddy from the horse.

"Right. I knew this place would settle down. You're gonna calm down for the time being, aren't you?

"Right. I also have Luna's training, so I don't think it's going to work for a couple of years. Maybe I'll go to Ars."

As I told Liddy, from now on, I'm going to start training Luna to serve the purpose for which I was called to this world. Of course, I'm not going to give her intense training without basic health, but I'm going to teach her the art of living over a few years.

"So we can relax, too. When I thought about it, I left Doctus, went to Welburn, went to Ars, went to the Imperial City, and I was only in this village for a little over a year."

Beatrice is right, I've only lived in the village for a year or two since I graduated from college last year.

"Mr. Luna will live with you again, won't she?" Mel asked.

"Right. Mel and Sharon are with us, and that would be better. Well, Molly might teach you how to cook, and you'd go to the mansion a lot."

Luna is the adopted daughter of the Lockhart family, but she will be treated a little differently.

Being an official adoptive daughter means letting her decide in person when she turns fifteen, and now she doesn't have the Lockhart surname. I mean, the status quo is just a civilian daughter.

For that reason, I'm in the carriage today to be less conspicuous.

At the suggestion of me and my mother, I treat my adopted daughter, but I don't “like" her, and the villagers understand that. However, people frequently visit from surrounding towns and villages such as Kilnarek in the future, so being in the mansion can cause confusion. So he thinks we should stay away than live together in the mansion.

"Besides Mr. Luna's training, are you making a reservoir of alcohol?" Sharon asked.

"That's it first. There's more, but hey, I'm going to do it from what I can."

Her said reservoir is about the basement she makes on the hill, for storing beer and wine. Although it has been made on a trial basis on the Museum Hill, it needs to be stored in bulk for festivals such as the Dwarf Festival and the Victory Memorial Festival, and I intend to make it on other hills as well.

There's something else I'm thinking about, but this one is still in the research phase, so I'll be doing it from what I can say.

The villagers passed between the welcoming hills, and Kanga Hill was visible. Early summer makes a beautiful contrast between the dark greenery of the trees and the brick colors of the Scotch reservoir and the walls.

Ride through the open gates and up the hill.

As I rode up the narrow road with my horse, I could hear the training as usual.

My grandfather Govan didn't seem willing to stop training even on the day our Lord returned. That seems to be the Lockhart family, which is somewhat comfortable.

Upon arrival in front of the mansion, he followed Walt Vassel, whom his grandfather had become a housekeeper, and welcomed him. Behind it is Home Secretary Nicholas Garland and Martial Officer Hector Marron, plus behind it is Will Keegan, who became squire chief.

The members of the vigilante, who were sweating through further training, were standing in line with a full grin as they breathed on their shoulders.

No sign of Dan and Sharon's father, Guy Jakes and Byron Seedorf, but Guy is out scouting in the East Forest, because Byron is in Kilnarek as a defensive captain.

"Safe and above all," my grandfather slaps my father gently in the arm.

"We have entrusted the territory to you for a long time and we apologize for the inconvenience. All proceedings concerning the Duke have been completed and this will finally calm you down."

After a brief greeting with my grandfathers, I head to the mansion.

Give Brett Hertz, the newly obedient, the black-horse reins that made him a horse lover.

"That's a great horse," he says, surprised.

"I'll take care of him later, so take him to the stables and just wipe him with sweat."

"I'll do everything, though?," Brett says,

"This guy's gonna be in a bad mood if I don't take care of him. Well, someone's gonna have to do it in the future, but I'm gonna do it today."

Not only does this black horse not try to put me on board, but she often doesn't like to be touched. Families like Liddy and Beatrice would be nice, but even during the trip, when a squire or vigilante tried to take care of him, he had a rough nose and hated it.

It's okay because it doesn't mean I don't like taking care of horses, but I have a lot of trouble wiping sweat and brushing for my big body.

By the way, it's the name of this horse, but I decided to call it the "Kokuyo”. Instead, I suggested a lot, but they didn't like it, and it feels like saying I've settled down in this name.

When written in kanji, this word "Kokuyo” becomes “Obsidian" or “Black Yao”. He likened the glowing black hair to obsidian and called it "cocktail.”

The first name that came to mind was the Koo-Oo, and that the sense of speech really didn't disappear is the primary reason I made that name.

If there's another reason, once I jokingly called it "Koo-Oo," sometimes I wasn't quite convinced of the other name, whether I liked the name.

"Obsidian has the meaning of a talisman," he blurted and admitted, somewhat convinced.

Walt's wife Molly, who entered the mansion and became the head samurai, greets me in the apron as usual. Though she has become the wife of a knight, she continues to enter the kitchen as before.

"Welcome home, Master Zach. I'm going to make it today with more on my arm."

"I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to today because I missed Molly's bread."

I'm not old enough to have this conversation. Better not change because I think I'm back.

Go away where we live, take off your gear and go to Grandfather's waiting hall.

My father and mother, Liddy and the others, also gathered for a brief report.

After hearing the report, my grandfather thought about it for a while.

"So basically, it doesn't mean it's as good as ever. The Chancellor will send you information as appropriate, and you will not be asked to do anything more."

"I was wondering if it would be okay with that perception," my father replies.

"His Excellency the Governor seems to be able to handle it," he asked me.

My grandfather seemed to care about my lord, the northern governor, the Raswell Borderline Uncle.

"I'm sure we'll find out the details after them, but the great victory of His Excellency the Duke of Ezarrington will also allow the Northern Governor's Office troops to return as early as summer. They seemed to struggle quite a bit because of the funding difficulties, but I think they will take a breather in the fall"

"It's superimposed," looses his grandfather's expression.

"It's about Kilnarek's future rule, but for the time being, I and Nicholas are going to be stationed alternately. I'll leave you to your father to be away again, thank you."

When my father said that, my grandfather nodded small, not looking like he cared.

"I don't mind about that. Zach is here now, and Rod will be back soon. Besides, Kilnarek isn't far. If you're a frogman, you'll be there in two hours. Let's not have a problem."

As previously decided, the Lockhart family will not leave the village of Rasmore.

However, for Kilnarek, who has become a new territory, his father or brother will reside until he is accustomed to the rule of the Lockhart family. The three surrounding villages were also to be patrolled regularly by my father and brother.

That brother, but he won't be back for another couple of months because he stays in Wellburn for a bandit and demon crusade. For this reason, Nicholas, the Home Secretary, is to be seconded as deputy.

I should go, my second son, but I'll stay in the village because of Luna.

It would be unnatural to stay without doing anything, but in my case, I can make an excuse for not being able to leave the village because I am a full-time lecturer on a skilled (expert) course in the Blacksmith Guild.

When I finish reporting to my grandfather, it's finally free time.

Hang a brush on the Kokuyo, give it a leaf and then go back away.

There were Liddy, Beatrice and Luna in the living room. Dan, Sharon, and Mel are apparently back at their respective homes.

"It's been a long time since my home has been nice. The inn was just a nice place, but I knew it wasn't."

Beatrice says it to no one as she stretches a lot.

"Right. I like the fact that you don't have to worry about it," Liddy replies.

"Were you worried about someone? ♪ And when I hear,

"That's right. Because even I have enough to be properly concerned," he swells. The look on that face was funny or Luna was gushing out small.

But he immediately hardened his expression and asked, "What should I do from now on?"

You can't tell Luna about the enemies of the gods. If you find out, you will think it is your fault that the village of Thysek, your birthplace, has been wiped out, and because you may be afraid to fight enemies like God fears and be unable to do anything.

"Right. Let's work out the body for now. I think I've got a little help riding the horse, but whatever it is, this world needs to be physically tough."

"Right. You should also practice magic. Because you are loved by the spirits."

That's what Liddy says and follows. This exchange seemed natural because it had been held in advance.

"Right. I'm not sure about magic, but I don't have any power at all compared to Serra, and I think the sword would help a little if I could use a bow, even though I can't."

When Luna was in Japan, she said she was doing bows and that bows seemed to work. However, he says that Japanese Japanese bows and bows in this world are not structured or used in the same way, and he also says he is not sure he can do it well.

"Either way, it starts tomorrow. I want to sweat slowly in the bathroom today for the first time in a long time"

"I'm a jerk, too. The hardest part of this journey was not having a big bath."

Bath lover Beatrice nods loudly and agrees.

He then slowly sweated in the bath and tongue-in-cheek at Molly's affectionate hand cooking.

(I really wish this kind of time would continue......)

The next day, he gathered the villagers in front of the main gate of Kanga Hill, where his father gave a speech.

"In this imperial capital, our family officially became the Viscount!

So long live the villagers and the applause boils. My father calms down with his hands wide open and continues the conversation.

"As I've told everyone before, the Lockhart family is with the village of Rasmore! But Kilnarek, Baldock, Oozley and Cipheres were added to our territory. We will often empty this village to rule this land..."

This story has also been passed on beforehand, and there is no particular confusion.

"... As you will hear, we were raided at the border of Fortis by the hand of the Holy King Luke..."

That's where the twitch happens. The fact had already been conveyed, but anger against Luke sprang up as a voice.

Many of the residents here remember the blockade of the village of Rasmore by the Light Divinity, which was originally unfavourable to the Light Divinity and the Holy Kingdom of Luke. He couldn't contain his anger at Luke for using assassination as a means to hang a circle on it.

"... Luke's people are fanatics. I have no idea if they will pull their hand. We have a powerful enemy called the Aquila Demon. And maybe Luke's fanatics will join us. I want everyone to be more attentive and protect the village than ever before!

Neither my father nor I thought Luke would have any more hands on the Lockhart family, but we were concerned that the further development of Lockhart territory would loosen the villagers' minds. Especially with the addition of new residents, they could be tired of rigorous training, and this time they used the fanatics of Phototheism to re-tighten their minds.

The villagers reacted tremendously.

"I will protect you! We'll protect the village!" The voice echoes the meadow.

The village of Rasmore here is very livable for the villagers. Taxes are cheap, and no lord makes you feel cramped. I don't want such a land to be doomed by fanatics from the bottom of my heart.

(It's still safer to be in this village. Because there are so many people who love the village. All you have to do is protect Luna here and empower her to fight the enemies of the gods...)
