Dream Life

Episode XXIII: The True Dwarf Festival: Liquor Quality Review

March 25th.

After the Blacksmith Skills Assessment Meeting, the liquor review meeting, which can now be called the real deal, was about to begin.

Not only Dwarves, but villagers and neighbors alike waited softly for the opening of the meeting to see what a combination of alcohol and food would be.

The story of Viscount Ignacious Radford, one of the best gastronomers in the empire, regretting himself with tears of blood the last time he was unable to participate, was famous, overflowing with merchants trying to win and become famous here.

The ingredients were mainly preserved last time, but this time pigs, cattle, sheep, etc. still alive are brought in. Not only that, but also rare demons were carried in cages.

Huge cow demons Big horn cows (Great Horn), ostrich bird demons, plain runners and other big herbivorous demons, but I admire that they didn't often get into trouble in the process of carrying them.

They had been slaughtered by yesterday and had already been stored in a reservoir in Kitagaki Hill.

There are also more than fifty barrels of beer and wine brought in, and barrels such as Hoxhead and Bat barrels are brought into the reservoirs of each hill.

The capacity exceeds fifteen thousand litres, and when the liquor offered by the Lockhart family is combined, the same absurd quantity will be served.

However, many Lockhart family officials, including myself, were not surprised by the amount, and on the contrary worried that this would suffice. Looks like we've been completely brainwashed by Dwarves.

"I would now like to move on to the Second Liquor Quality Review!" and George Valentine, guild clerk at the Wellburn branch, who moderates, speaks up.

It was already after eleven o'clock in the morning and the participants had responded to it with cheer.

"As many of you know the rules, people in each branch will be asked to combine knobs with the liquor they serve. The time limit is from now until the afternoon bell rings. After that, you will be asked to vote on the three bills you received at the entrance to the venue at the combination you think this is going to be. The voting time limit is 3 p.m. Results are scheduled for presentation at 4 p.m. Well, thank you, gentlemen!

At the end of George's explanation, the merchants move in unison. Last time there were many combinations of liquor and knobs from the same city, but the winning Wellburn combined with the dishes from the village of Rasmore seems to hang the sell-in on other city branches as well.

The Dwarves also moved slowly. They also go looking for knobs to match their liquor.

This time again, the Lockhart family serves food.

I served a variety of dishes last year, including fried food dishes, sandwiches and gelato, but this time I have a slightly different taste.

That's a reproduction of Japanese home-cooked food.

Even so, it's not Japanese food, but fried croquettes, minced cutlets, etc., meat potatoes.

The fried food was served last time, but it was as a knob. This time, however, I thought about having it enjoyed as a single dish, without matching it with alcohol.

The primary reason for this is Luna's mood swings.

Physical abilities and knowledge are better, but the magic progressed poorly and she felt troubled herself. That's why I thought about making whatever dish I wanted and getting rid of the stress.

Luna showed a slight hesitation when she shared my thoughts.

"... is that okay? My cooking is no bigger than what Zach makes..."

"Even if it's something I make, Molly almost makes it for me. And Luna's meat potatoes were also very popular in Netherton. Then I can cook something else."

It makes meat potatoes in the main city of Netherton in the central part of the Empire. Even so, there is no soy sauce, so I used fish soy sauce. Unsurprisingly, this was received by the Dwarves.

"... Really? But you'd better be a knob..."

"Right," he answers, tilting his little neck and starting to think.

"... I don't know if croquettes or menchcuts are good. After that, I think I can make dumplings and stuff. I don't know what else to do..."

I think it sounds fun, but to deal with Dwarves, I'll be careful at once.

"I think you should be able to do as much at once as you can because you need the quantity. If you want to make something, you just have to make it sometime."

"Right. Then this time we'll just have croquettes and menthikatsu and meat potatoes"

I've been involved with the Liddies since the day before to prepare for the bottom.

Croquets and mince cutlets are already on the Rockhart family table, and are served in taverns such as the Black Pond (Black Ruff) Pavilion.

For the record, Luna seems to be from Kanto and I call her Menchkatsu, but I call her Minchkatsu because I live in Kansai for a long time.

Meat potatoes, but this is also a classic in the Lockhart family, and is sometimes plugged into the training center of the Blacksmith Guild. With a strong, sweet salty pinch of fish soy aroma, Dwarves from afar were confused at first, but they often liked it immediately.

Since beer is the main event, there is no option of dumplings either, but I declined because the number of people is hard to prepare just for the number of people. However, I was completely oblivious to the dumplings, so I am determined to have them made when the Dwarf Festival is over.

My mother used to compartmentalize the Lockhart family booth, but this time Luna does. Exactly. I asked him if he shunned because of the Viscount, and he was completely different.

"I don't care about that. But this time the food is not from the world you were in. Then I thought Luna should divide up."

Then I asked if I could.

"I don't mind if you do, but you're busy elsewhere"

Sure, it's hard for the Dwarves to catch me and reside in the booth, but I thought Luna would be okay by herself. That thing was on my face, my mother responded to it with a laugh.

"It's okay. Because I and Molly are watching."

Thus the Lockhart family booth was to be partitioned by Luna, but she was better at using people than she thought. I haven't asked why, but I'm talking about doing things like a student council officer, and he said he'd run a mock shop at a school festival, so I guess it's his experience then.

When the liquor tasting begins, the merchants' call is enlivened at once. This time, merchants are coming not only from Ars, the imperial capital and Perricitol, but also from the commercial city of Aurelia and the most vibrant Ezarrington of the Empire.

They also have a lot of business guild associates, enough to say a collaborative project between a blacksmith guild and a commercial guild.

"It's Aurelia's specialty beer stew! This guy and Aurelia's brown ale just go hand in hand!

"It's Smoked Fonce's Mass! I can't stop wearing Fonce's white wine on this guy!

"It's a white sausage recommended by the master craftsman! White beer suits this guy perfectly!

The voice is raised there.

Those who come to me for their opinions constantly,

"I'm not sure. Tell me which knob fits our ale."

In contrast, from the point of view of fairness, "This is a play. We should make it something we think is delicious ourselves," he replies.

You thought I didn't have an island to attach to, and many cried to Viscount Ignacious Radford. I have seen it many times, especially where it is surrounded by imperial merchants.

The Viscount handled it the same way I did, but there was just a bitter laugh.

"I didn't think you'd be asked for more advice. I don't even have time to taste it."

"I guess we're trying to use Master Ignacious's opinions for future business. If you advertise in the Imperial Capital, it will definitely sell to the nobles."

I was talking about that, but I have a well secured drink and knob and he seems to enjoy it for himself.

After going around the various booths, I came back to the Lockhart family booth. There's more queuing up than I thought, and Luna's frying the fries as she moves around busily.

"Sounds like a good sell," I say, she laughs nicely, nodding "yes," and raises the croquette to the bat.

"I like the uster sauce I made before. I can't keep up with Croquets and Menchcuts at all"

Uster sauce is based on my vague knowledge. Somehow I remembered the ingredients, and when I told her about it, I sewed between the training and began to reproduce them. I would need a maturation period, but by accelerating it with my storage magic (inventory), the recipe was completed in about a month.

"Deep-fried with Ustar sauce goes with beer. Whoa! You got tons of cutlets too!

I'm surprised at the material I didn't initially plan on doing.

"I was going to run out of croquettes and menchcuts, so I was wondering what to do, and Mr. Burt brought it to me"

Bart Robbins, a merchant from Imperial City, said he plugged it in. Because of his success in the sandwiches with Gelato, he has accompanied Viscount Radford to purchase new business stories.

"But you said you wanted me to teach you how to make uster sauce, so maybe that's what you're after. Huuuuuuuuuu..."

I'm laughing at you for remembering even the funny exchange.

"Right. Well, spreading the word isn't a problem in itself... why don't we try it at the auction?"

"We'd like a drink, too," complains Liddy and the others, as they were helping. Then Luna laughed,

"I'm getting a little calm, so Lydia and Beatrice can go have a drink. Mel and Sharon alternate."

When we have that conversation, the Dwarves join the conversation.

"The sauce is exquisite for this croquette. Did you think of this, too?," Gaelnote asked, pinching a hot croquette with his thick fingers.

I thought you weren't hot often, but "what would a blacksmith do with this much stuff" he laughs at me.

"It was Luna who made the sauce. And this meat potato is Luna's self-confidence. Black and white beer are subtle, but also go well with malty aromas of ale. Well, the best part is this chilled lager."

That's what I say. Pour beer out of the barrel.

This beer is of cryogenic maturation seen by Viscount Radford and is the lager type of lower fermentation. It is a beautiful beer that is difficult to understand in color but golden because it is a wooden jock.

When I take a sip, the Dwarves start ordering meat potatoes and beer. Liddy and the others went out for a drink, so I started selling it, but it's not bitter because it's fun to talk about ingredients and how to make it.

That quickly became the cut-off time for cooking combinations.

Dwarves and merchants were forming before each branch of the Blacksmith Guild to explain the combination of each.

The general headquarters of the Ars and the Wellburn branch are the same combination as last year, but the Imperial Primes branch appears to have gone into battle.

"Brown ale in Imperial City with pork cutlets! The sauce has plenty of Rockhart family uster sauce hanging on it!

Branch manager Gunter Fink yells out loud. Next to it stands Bart, and apparently the pig he gave Luna was meant for this. As usual, there is no loophole, we are getting Wuster sauce properly, and the Dwarves gaze concentrates on the Plymouth branch.

Next to it, Ivan Kemp, branch manager of the Ezarrington branch, yells at Gunter for losing his voice.

"Deep-fried Ezarrington lager and small prawns on the Fatas River! If you shake plenty of lemons and eat them, you can't stop!

The Ezarrington branch seems to have replaced it with a small shrimp on the Fatas River that flows near the village because of its freshness and inability to bring in local shrimp.

In the meantime, the commercial city of Aurelia branch was emitting a different colour.

"Ezarrington's white wine is soaked with smoked oysters! Vanilla uses what Viscount Radford mentored me to do! You can't tell me you joined the Dwarf Festival without savoring this!

Unusual for a dwarf, it seems to compete with white wine. It was also the finest of the Empire's Ezarrington, and they even took Viscount Radford's advice properly.

Asking the Viscount about it,

"Robbins used to ask me about vanilla that goes with the oil pickling of oysters. I didn't expect that information to go as far as Aurelia, but that taste is exactly what I said..."

They were secretly purchasing information through the Robbins Chamber of Commerce. This was not conceived by Zamuel, the branch manager, but suggested by a major general trading company called the Deodard Chamber of Commerce in Aurelia, apparently.

It is the deadline for voting and we have a little time to spare.

Last time we explained how to drink Scotch here, this time we had a tasting of Seawell wine brought in by Viscount Radford.

When I say tasting, it's not free, I take good money. This is not an intention to make money, but to limit drinkers because they drink too much, other than Dwarves.

The Seawell wine I prepared, but this time the Viscount brought it for the Dwarf Festival and also decided to serve the five-year old I had aged in bottles.

Five years is basically Dwarf exclusive, but I would also offer it to other races if they weren't drunk. This is my selfishness that I don't want to serve to those who don't know the taste.

By the way, a glass of Krona (a thousand yen in Japanese yen) is better for the new wine, and five years is five krona. Five thousand yen a glass is quite a price, but it's something that even the emperor can't easily get, and it's too cheap.

The Dwarves lined up very well, even though they said, "Is it wine?"

"If you've drunk before, you know, enjoy the fragrance first! Check the fragrance that spreads with the flavour in your mouth afterwards…"

Keep my precautions and slowly include them in your mouth when you receive the glass.

Among them was Queen Katrina, who received wine in the same line.

"Is this wine from a new grape?

I already know what you're talking about in Seawell, so I think I've been checking.

"Exactly. It is the red of a special grape in the village of Moulin. I think it's still too tannic."

The queen nods at my commentary and slowly tips the glass.

"It's delicious enough," he smiles, but doesn't seem to have gotten to the point of impression.

The Dwarves seem to have received, "I've never seen so much red wine!" Some were screaming.

I'll be handing out five years of stuff on a tour.

When I start handing it out, unlike earlier, the surprise goes up one after the other.

"What wine! Non prefers beer, except this one! Lord Ignacious! Is this for sale!

Ulrich shouts so, and shortly thereafter the queen also speaks up.

"What a fragrant scent! Tongue-in-cheek like a billord! Oh! I can't believe I've come across so much wine! Viscount Radford, that you will never have this in the Cowm royal family!

Viscount Radford smiles contentedly at how it

"Unfortunately, we don't plan to sell this outside of the capital."

The discouraged voices of the Dwarves spread to the words.

"Why not? I wouldn't spare a hundred kronas for this."

"It's not a matter of price. As things stand, we also have to narrow the number of copies we dedicate to His Majesty the Emperor. It will probably take ten years to be able to produce steadily."

A discouraged voice spreads further into the word.

"We can't have booze overnight. The Marquis and the craftsmen are hanging in there at Seawell. I want temperament to wait!

When I said that, he convinced me that he didn't.

The tasting was also successfully concluded and the results announced.

The results were won by the Plymouth branch. Uster sauce seemed to be the deciding factor.

By the way, the manufacturing method for Uster sauce, but not the merchant, the blacksmith guild competed to drop it. The price was one million kronas, one billion yen. He gave up crying because Bart stuck to the end, but there was no sign of him going down to the blacksmith guild.

Asking Ulrich why he joined Seri,

"This guy goes well with dwarf dishes. It's bad for the merchants, but this guy can't give in. It wasn't just the headquarters, but the branches thought the same thing, so I thought I'd get another two million."

I hear Bart gave up on that, too.

The method bought out, but it was decided to build a source factory directly run by the Alliance and wholesale it to the general headquarters and branches.

I didn't attend the review, but Luna's meat potatoes were very popular. I was impressed by the Dwarves packing it up even after they sold it all out and grumbling sadly, "Is it gone already?"

As a result, Luna's name spread all at once among the Dwarves. In the future, they will help us when she fights the enemies of the gods.
