Dream Life

Lesson 24: Lockhart Castle

Tria history September 20, 2021.

A year and a half passed since the second Dwarf Festival.

In the meantime, there have been no major problems with the Lockhart family or the village of Rasmore.

There are those who have left the village in the past year and a half.

That's Kurt and Doris, the blacksmiths who were coming from Welburn to train.

They completely mastered the way the distillers were manufactured and set off for Welburn in April of 320.

The two of them were on their way home as a matter of spirit, but this was the beginning of a major incident in the Kingdom of Kaum.

Their return route takes them north on Ars Avenue, through a place that has nothing to do with the Kingdom of Kaum, which is going west on Aurelia Avenue from Periclitle.

But they found the Scotch booze unacceptable to Dwarf on that journey.

The mastermind had something to do with me before, Count Adolphus Edgekamp, the former sidekick of Kaum's king.

He gathered artisans who could not stand his training at the distillery in our village and secretly made distilled liquor. The quality could not be called distilled liquor.

The Earl packed the crude liquor into a barrel in the village of Rasmore, where it was bought and collected, and brought it to Aurelia, which was barely in circulation at the time. And sold it as a Scotch from the village of Rasmore.

The Aurelia Dwarves said they had never had a scotch and twisted their necks saying it didn't taste great at first.

I also thought the Count would discover if he sold again and again, and he was just going to sell it off and make a profit at once.

However, on the way to Aurelia, one of the barrels was damaged. He sold the liquor in Low Cliff, the northernmost city of the Empire, that whoever was transporting it would not be able to. It was by chance that the Kurts drank it and discovered its fabrication.

The Kurts were furious that they had been blasphemed for their beloved liquor.

Returning to Wellburn, Kurt complained about it to his father, Deigenhardt. The Dwarves of the Dägenhardt and Welburn branches immediately consult with the Raswell Border Uncle, the Governor of the North.

Seems to have gone to pound his anger rather than to consult him, but Borderline Uncle felt the seriousness of the matter immediately and sent the Dragon Knights of the Feilong Knights, the tiger's son, to Ars, king capital of the Kingdom of Kaum.

Upon receiving the information, Queen Katrina was as worried about the situation as Uncle Borderline.

And she gave full powers to her belly, Sir Otto Elwes, to order control. At that time, instructions are given to capture only one of the persons concerned, and harsh controls are carried out.

Harsh on the nobility, she was a tolerant queen to the civilian population, but she also showed no enthusiasm for the craftsmen who were only used for the crime of Scotch smuggling.

So much so that the fierceness was given the two names "Kati Soak”. By the way, "soak" means “tightly controlled."

The activity of Kati Sork led to the destruction of every mafia that ever had connections to criminal groups (mafias) that could not be eliminated.

Uncle Edgekamp was assassinated to the survival of the Mafia after being stripped of his title and expelled for that crime.

Only then could the Dwarves' anger subside, so much so that the name of the leading figure, Count Edgekamp, “Adolphus”, disappeared from within the Kingdom of Kaum. It will not be given to a child born, and it is further assumed that most of those who already have that name have renamed it.

A lot of other things happened.

Celebrating, Dean, the long-awaited eldest son, was born to his brother Rodrick. He was born on July 11, 320, and is now one year old and vibrantly rampaged.

Due to the birth of a child, a new mansion for the brothers and their wives was created in the Museum Hill. Even so, the outside is what I magically made.

This mansion, but built between the middle belly on the south side of the hill, the reservoir and the school. There used to be a house for Hector and Guys.

It's Hector's house, but I'm rebuilding it.

Reason for rebuilding, but it was originally a house too poor for a squire to live in. The peasant houses in the heart of the wealthier villages were so splendid that they made them suitable for the Cavalier classes to live in as they built their brothers' houses.

The brothers' mansion is fifteen metres wide and about ten metres deep in stone. The roof is also made of earthly attribute magic, beautiful with plenty of white walls, blue roofs and window glass, with a hall on the ground floor and about ten rooms in all when the attic is also combined.

Hector, the minister's mansion is a little smaller than that, but it's a similarly shaded building. And the houses of the servants are built in the midst of the hills, and what can be seen from among the woods is like a cottage in the resort.

Lockhart Mansion in the main house, but this one is also being rebuilt.

My grandfather and father were both passive in rebuilding, and I myself had been thoughtful about the mansion until then, but I built a little castle to equip myself with frequent visits by nobles and the functions of the bureau.

It is now known as Lockhart Castle, but it is 30 meters wide, 20 meters deep and about 30 meters tall, and is built on four floors above ground and two floors underground.

Four corners are equipped with spires and the Rockhart family flag.

This is also a deep blue roof on the white Asia wall, plenty of glass on the windows, and the fourth floor part is turned into a balcony.

The first floor is the entrance and hall and kitchen, the second floor is the living room, the third floor is the office room, and the fourth floor is the room.

This castle, but made it different from the architectural style of the Empire. It was made of reinforced stone, or a structure close to reinforced concrete.

The reinforcing bars were made of swords held by the skeletons who attacked the village, and the beltrams Dwarves made us long reinforcing bars with forges. And the joints are glued like welds with metallic magic.

Put soil on that ligament and magically turn it into stone. Stone took the place of concrete and succeeded in thinning walls and floors more than ever before.

Due to the increased strength and lighter weight due to the insertion of reinforcements, the spacing of the columns could be widened and a wide hole could be created.

It is unclear how strong it is because it is a structure I have built that is not the most architect, but at least it will be stronger than what I have made from stone alone.

The way this castle is made, but it employs a slightly different method.

Conventionally, while building walls and floors, I put them out on the ground a little bit, but this time I needed to put in a long reinforcing bar, and I couldn't take the method of putting them out on the ground.

For this reason, a cavity was created in advance in the basement, in which reinforcement was placed to create a structure, where the soil was magically soiled and turned into stone. And they pulled that part up to the ground.

Imagine finally building a basement and putting it on the ground.

It is a troublesome method compared to walls and air defense towers, which took more than six months to build the castle, but it can be said that it was very early to build an outer frame by itself.

Since the interior decided to make the most of the wooden part used in the previous mansion, my father's impression of the residential part has not changed much from before.

The outer wall, but as I explained earlier, is made into a white wall.

Originally made from the soil of Kanga Hill, it turned red soil just like the walls. I could have stayed that way, but it felt too top-notch, so I took white sand from the Black Pond (Black Ruff) and the Black River flowing from it and painted it in and petrified it to make it white.

In addition, the white sand itself contains a lot of silicon, and since it was further modified and made into glass, it feels like the white tile is applied.

Because the roof is similarly colored and glazed using blue colored ore, it may show a clear feeling shade like cobalt blue when exposed to sunlight.

Further maintenance was also considered.

It seeks to improve durability and combat deterioration over time by incorporating the method of depicting "hardened” magic formations in the stones used in the streets of the Empire.

We also used other magic props to pump up the groundwater so that the water supply could reach the entire building.

This magic prop, but it's my original, wind attribute, magically pressurizing type.

Until then, there existed a magical prop of breeze using wind attribute magic. In fact, the training center of the Blacksmith Guild is fitted with a large wind blower demon prop instead of a ventilator.

The output of the demonic prop of the air blower was significantly changed and turned into a compressor (compressor).

When a large pressure difference is applied to normal fans and blowers, the phenomenon of "surging” backflow from between the blades occurs. Therefore, to compress the air, a multi-stage system such as a jet engine or a reciprocating piston (reciprocator) is used.

On the other hand, there is no reflux theoretically because the demonic props of the wind use the power of the Spirit of the Wind. However, when the wind is gone, the spirits stop the wind on their own, and the pressure rises seldom.

In other words, it would have been possible to increase the pressure if we had successfully controlled that point.

The modification of the magic formation succeeded in creating a pressure of one mega-pascal, about a hundred meters of compressed air in the frying range.

This demonic prop of compression and pressure vessel were installed in the well so that water could be sent to the water storage tank installed on the top floor of the castle, albeit intermittently.

I sought the beauty and habitability of appearance, but it is only a castle, and the battle is also considered.

The walls can burn to the surface even with the magic of my highest output Jailfire Spear (Hellfire Lance) by the curing magic I just described.

The biggest weakness in the castle is the glass windows, but a steel shutter was installed here. This shutter, but by taking enough thickness, the magic of the Wing Demon class can be adequately prevented.

Shutter was also based on Skeleton's sword and was to crush most of the swords just by building a castle.

However, it is very heavy because it is made of steel. It's hard and time consuming to raise and lower the shutter as it is. Normally, that's fine, but given the battle, you have to be able to shut it down in a short time, and you should be able to open it easily to use instead of rain doors. For this reason, it is designed to balance the shutters with the weight, pulleys and wires, and to move with the minimum force required.

An air defense facility, but a spire in the four corners is built with an arrow narrow, so that the balcony on the fourth floor can also be fitted with steel shields.

Working with the air defense tower at the top of the hill allowed for considerably enhanced measures against wing demons and flying demons.

The basement of the castle is a reservoir, but not for liquor. We keep here cereals and spare weapons delivered by the inhabitants, ready for emergencies.

In addition to castles and mansions, sewers have been installed to improve village infrastructure. Other reservoirs built in the hills have been converted into ice chambers, and roads connecting the village to the streets of Ars have been maintained.

The situation in the city of Kilnarek, the villages of Bardock, Oozley and Cipheres, which have newly become the territory of the Lockhart family, remains largely unchanged from it until then, including Kilnarek.

Fathers and brothers regularly travel to Kilnarek, and Byron Seedorf resides as a further defensive captain.

Regarding taxes, however, the Lockhart family comes in only 100,000 kronas per year and 100 million yen in Japanese yen, the same amount that was paid to the Raswell Border House. Tax revenues were plentiful and it was possible to make them pay even more, but my father had given instructions to use them for the development of the city.

I haven't said much about the city's budget either, but naturally the Lockhart family's approval is needed to execute the budget. There seemed to be clothes and such before, but that hasn't happened since the Lockhart family started checking their books.

Three villages, but none made the choice of organizing vigilantes like the village of Rasmore. That's why I pay taxes to the Lockhart family. Even so, the tax payable is barley used in distilleries, which is about 30% in tax rates.

Before it became the territory of the Lockhart family, it was a poor pioneering village, which meant that taxes were largely exempt. For that reason it is a complete tax increase, but no dissatisfaction is heard at all.

This has to do with the fact that the harvest has increased dramatically as a result of agricultural instruction by the Lockhart family originally, and that the crusade of demons that had been asked of the adventurers has now been swiftly carried out by the Lockhart family.

He said he would only be heard thanking the Lockhart family, which is responsible for both income growth and policing.

However, many of the young people, including Kilnarek, wanted to join the Village of Rasmore vigilante. For this reason, with regard to those whom the circumstances of the house permit, he permits them to live in the Hills of the Museum in the form of squire apprenticeships. Few, however, can withstand the rigorous training of their grandfather, a situation in which they are returning to their homeland in a matter of days.

As was rumored in the political entanglement, at the end of last year the Imperial Chancellor is replacing Duke Alexis Ezzarington by Duke Irvin Feelobisher. The House of the Duke of Phyllobisher was also replaced, with Jeremiah taking the lead.

I don't know if that's what caused it, but I got a call from Jeremiah, who has become Lord Feelobisher.

That was Sharon's communication of pardon.

Two and a half years ago, in February 319, Sharon moved his blacksmith guild arbitrarily, buying the wrath of then-Chancellor Lord Feelobisher. For that reason, my father, Masaias, postponed my marriage to Sharon indefinitely.

My predecessor, Lord Feelobisher, had shown an attitude of punishing Sharon or the Lockhart family for political reasons, but Viscount Radford gave me the information that he would forgive them for replacing them.

It also seems significant that the information provided through Lord Seawell was evaluated.

It was at the end of the year in 320 last year that it was communicated, but we thought that soon we would be told that marriage would have no colour for reflection, and that we would have a ceremony next March in 322.

Sharon, who heard this, cried even though it was before she had much of a father or mother of happiness, so much so that she was caught by it and Mel was also so impressed that she cried.

And we're in our situation, but we're definitely leveling out of being able to take training time. Especially my magic level has risen tremendously and my earthly attributes are above level seventy. Swordsmanship has also risen well and now to level fifty-three.

Liddy and the others are doing well, with Liddy being the wind attribute 64, Beatrice being the magician 69, Mel being the swordsman 58, Sharon being the wind attribute 61, Dan being the swordsman 44, and the archer 48.

My grandfathers were still leveling up, and the power of the village of Rasmore had been steadily strengthened.

This is what the big move looks like, but we are making a big policy shift about Luna's education, which is currently the biggest project.

Lockhart Castle, on the edge of the Imperial Territory and in Lockhart Rasmore, has been named one hundred of the Imperial Castles because of the beauty and functional beauty of its appearance.

Familiar with the history of the castle, Ville Ricefield presents the following in his book, Imperial Hundred Castles - The Charm of an Imperial Castle:

'... those who first visit Lockhart Castle first raise their admiration for the beauty of its appearance. Beautiful glossy white walls like pearls. Roof as if reflecting the cobalt blue of the Austrelian Sea as it were. Glass windows brilliant in the light of the sun like a mirror...... but the castle body is not the only true beauty. The brick colour of the heavy Scotch reservoir, the vibrant greenery of the well-maintained trees, the beauty of them and the castle are taken care of to coordinate with each other…'

Ricefield also introduced the point of admiring its beauty.

'... if you have visited Lasmore I suggest you get up early. Especially in the early summer, you should stand along the Finn River, which flows west of the castle, and take a look at Lockhart Castle, which will be lit by the morning sun. Black in the mountains of Aquila, brick barrier and pale green in the woods. Against that background you will see a white Asia wall stained with an orange morning sun and a cobalt blue roof glowing in a soft smeared colour... This is said to be a spectacular view calculated and made by the designer, Sir Zacharias ”all-purpose genius...'

He also mentioned other things besides beauty.

"... this castle, designed by Sir Zacharias, who is also the landlord of the magic props, is also very sophisticated in terms of function. Reasonable ventilation system using demonic props of the blowing air. Water supply facilities with large pumps and cisterns. Large lighting magic props called" chandeliers ”that can be operated from lighting devices (switches) placed on walls. Never before has a castle been seen so effectively handed out demonic props… among them the idea of stretching a water supply inside the castle was novel, and that was groundbreaking not only in terms of convenience in life, but also in terms of disaster prevention. The ceiling in Lockhart Castle is equipped with a fire extinguishing device that connects to the water supply and is designed to allow for quick extinguishment in the event of a fire… '

And at the end of the day, this is how it ends.

'... Lockhart Castle is said to have changed the concept of the castle until then, but I also strongly agree with that. Until Lockhart Castle was formed, for over two thousand years it was mostly an imperial-style martial arts castle when it came to castles. Of course, noble mansions are called “castles” in large cities, but they are only what the administration calls “castles”. Those castles only had a fence, and the building itself could not withstand the battle. Even though there was a special geographic condition called Rasmore, it is my view that the design, which brilliantly blends its function as a combat, its function as a residence, and its function as an administrative agency, is one of the miracles performed by Sir Zacharias...'
