Dream Life

Episode 58: Lockhart Runaway

March 22nd.

Yesterday, my grandfather, Govan, took his brother Rodrick and the ministers who were the Lord and arrived in Riccadale.

That night, Sharon proposed the operation and it became a policy to act accordingly.

Her strategy was to defeat demons (demons) who were defeating the enemy while setting traps and intercepting them, dominated by us magicians with excellent anti-aircraft combat skills.

As of last night, I didn't think her measures would succeed, but now that it's been a night, I'm beginning to wonder if I can do it.

This is why I changed my mind, but the presence of my grandfather and brothers is significant.

With the exception of us Zach Sextet, our grandfather Govan, his brother Rodrick, as well as Walt Vassel, the housekeeper, and his son Enos Vassel, in the chivalry class; Nicholas Garland, the home affairs officer; Hector Marron, the martial officer, and his son Sim Marron; Guy Jakes, the martial officer; and Byron Seedorf, the defensive captain of Kilnarek as well.

The squire is accompanied by Luke Wilby and eleven other talented squire in their mid-twenties and late thirties, headed by squire chief Will Keegan.

The squire also started Will over level fifty, all of them over level forty, and no unit so good exists in any country, including the abilities of his grandfather, the commander.

The only rumor I hear is that the Beastly Slave Troops of Luke's Holy Kingdom could be comparable, but I don't think a force made of demonic props would beat us to trust each other wholeheartedly.

These warriors are strongly prepared to take them down even if they are stabbed with their enemies.

Given that, I don't see any enemies losing.

Of course, I fully understand that the enemy is powerful. So I'm going to do any little thing to increase my chances of winning.

As a trap, you need the right place to do it.

There is also a need for a comfortable base not to drain your strength, given that it is also a large area of twenty-six people and that you will be in the mountains for a long time.

So last night, I thought about where to go with the Liddies. And it came to the conclusion that a valley with white rocks that was based at the end of February would be nice.

It is a deep valley about a hundred meters high, only about twenty meters in the narrow, and it is difficult for the demons to fly freely.

It is also unnecessary to worry about attacks from behind because the south side is a barrier, there are many more rocks that become a shield and it is easy to cope with attacks from above.

Even more rocky, but also flat land about forty meters long and twenty meters wide, can be intercepted by swordsmen and magicians if they bring in the grounddragons.

And most importantly, it's easy to set various traps.

There are many diagonally grown trees on the cliffs of the valley, which make it possible to hide the archer and ambush him with a bow from the side. There are also a number of giant rocks on the cliffs, which can be dropped if meticulously worked.

These things led me to march for the White Rock Valley.

We'll proceed carefully through the woods so the enemy won't find us like we did last time. However, this time he had decided to aggressively launch an attack once he found the demon.

When I finished getting ready to leave and went outside the inn, my grandfathers hardened themselves into gear and were already waiting in line.

My grandfathers had feathered Tiger Stripe hooded capes just like us. It further carries a back sac, the figure of which is the army of the snowland of the twenty-first century, but is uncomfortable because it holds a misrill-coated kite shield, not a gun, or a weapon such as a spear or bow.

Shields are ready for us.

However, Liddy and Dan with bows, Beatrice with spears, and Sharon, who is physically tough to hold heavy objects, are not in hand.

Me and Mel usually don't have shields, but they do in case of an unforeseen situation.

By the way, Liddy's share of the shield is in the storage magic (inventory), and we're going to keep it around in case of an ambush, for example during the break.

All nervous, but none frightened.

Neither do I, but the presence of hero Govan is huge. When I hear my grandfather's voice, I think I can overcome any difficulty.

My father is also excellent as a commander, but this point alone does not even reach my grandfather's feet. Of course, so is my brother and I.

You're thinking the same thing, and Mel tells Beatrice, "You're not afraid to be with your predecessors," he says.

"Right. I thought the same thing. I'm starting to think I can be one of these people."

At the end of the final check of all, my grandfather signals his departure.

"Now we're going to defeat the dragon that Zach saw! I will surely defeat you before you come to this land. All of you!

I said to that voice, "Oh!" "The voice was up, and everyone was fisting.

The residents of Riccadale were watching the situation. At first, he seemed wary of the imperial nobleman's army, but he is convinced that he has come to expel the dragon.

There was a precedent for this.

Over a hundred years ago, the Knight of the Empire said he was going to exorcise the dragon and led the minister into the mountain of Aquila.

This is to earn the title "Dragon Slayer" and raise his name as a samurai. It's a quick way for a knight with no edge and no confidence in his arm to emerge.

By the way, I'm talking about the knights being wiped out, and who didn't come back.

The residents and adventurers looked at the Lockhart family gear and said to each other, "Wow, that's gear," or, "does that cloak make sense?"

We go into the woods, and we walk about half an hour to retrieve everyone's back sac.

Recovery itself is usual, but this time it's not a dummy's backpack, it's got food and stuff in it. I could have taken it from the beginning, but my squire was collecting it the day before, and I kept thinking about the hassle of making dummies.

"My shoulders are lighter. Woe," my grandfather laughs as he turns his arms.

"The forest will be deeper beyond this, so if you feel physically challenged, don't hesitate to say so"

My grandfather turns sixty-eight this year. It is a gift of training or a gift, and has a strength that I don't think is sixty-eight. It is still an unfamiliar land, sometimes a tough season when it comes to early spring, and consideration is indispensable.

"What are you talking about? In the village, they go into the woods to hunt demons. You don't need to treat the elderly."

Walt and other early ministers nod at his grandfather's words. That said, Walt is sixty-five, and Nicholas is sixty-two, and Hector is fifty-eight. Ordinary knights are old enough to be retired, not to go into the back of Aquila's mountain by mistake.

"Got it. However, my uncles will be the key to this operation. Just fully understand that."

That's all I'm saying, I'm going through the woods again.

However, we take more breaks than usual. Of course, the implications of resting the grandfathers are strong, but one reason is that they are increasing their perimeter vigilance.

Young scouts, starting with Dan, confirm ahead of time during the break.

"There are no demons around. We didn't find any tracks or anything like that."

A squire archer, Mark, reports to his grandfather.

"It seems true that there are few demons. Zach, I hope it stays on schedule."

"Yes, enemy scouts are demons. I've never seen it around here before, but you better not be alarmed."

My grandfather nodded at my words and started walking in the woods again.

The day goes on about ten kilometers, expanding and camping the simplified base we used last time. The number of people quadrupled at once, but the area itself is not that large because it was made a sleeping area by placing steps on the wall.

We need to cook a meal for twenty-six people, but there's also a big pot, so it's not that bitter. However, since there was no way to cook in the basement, it was necessary to create a dish in a discreet area.

Eat a warm meal and check the situation for everyone.

It's an exhausting itinerary for the average person, but starting with my grandfather, no one sees any signs of it.

"You're working out just fine," I get honest thoughts.

"I'm more tired than usual, but I'll figure it out if I go to sleep. 'Cause the more you're around, the more comfortable you'll be."

I'm laughing while I'm good.

I do have a few simple bedrooms as well, so my grandfathers plan to use them. When we talked about this, I thought my grandfather would rebel, but unexpectedly, I'm honestly getting suggestions.

"It doesn't make sense that you can't move."

My grandfather also seems to be aware that his health is falling less than before.

We march the same way the next day, but instead of demons, weak demons don't even show up. I was wondering where those demons had gone in places where demons of the third degree appeared before.

March 24, the third day after we left.

Still the day was high, around 3 p.m., we arrived in a valley with white rocks, our destination. But not immediately into the valley, where Dan leads the scouts to scout the surrounding area.

"Same as before. There is no demonic appearance. Only once did I see the demon fly the usual course and head north."

With Dan's report, we Zachsextedt advance into the valley. Be vigilant around your surroundings, while examining previously used bases.

"You don't seem to have found me," I whine, and Dan, who was lying next to me, nods.

"When you opened the door, you made sure it left traces."

Dan was right, I did a little work the second time I scouted.

Once the door disguised as a rock was moved, the thread attached to the top was pulled so that the landmark could move, so that if the enemy found it, he could tell. The yarn is also disguised as dead grass, so if you don't know, you won't notice.

Still carefully open the door, taking into account the possibility that you noticed the trick. And then we peek inside and explore for any traces of the enemy breaking in, but the enemy was unaware of this stronghold.

Instruct Dan to guide his grandfathers and develop a base in the meantime.

Expand so that everyone can get in and make more air holes.

Since this time it is possible to spend a long time here, a fireplace was set up that can be used for cooking as well as a sleeping area to make it a little safer and more comfortable.

Holes for the exhaust shall be extended for a long time so that the smoke does not divert the place, and the exhaust outlet shall be installed under the trees of evergreen trees to further spread the smoke. I don't know how developed the demon's sense of smell is, but using fire outside is the same risk, so I just have to be satisfied with this.

Make a standby spot for the lookout just a few climbs up the cliff. Rocks and shrubs make it harder to see from above, and further yarns for communication are installed.

The yarn stretches down to the basement, with a ringer at the end. This way, if the watchdog finds the enemy, he'll be able to contact you immediately.

At the end of those preparations, the darkness was already imminent.

At night, Liddy and two of her squires stand watch, eating meals in the meantime for an operational meeting.

"We're on schedule so far. Nothing in particular has changed the movement of the enemy."

Think of something I might not have noticed and confirm to my grandfathers, "Tell me if you've noticed anything".

"Right. I don't think we can change the operation at the moment. Tomorrow, the three of them will scout the cave they lurk in. Any opinions?

Originally, Dan and I were just going to make sure the enemy didn't change, but my grandfather said he really wanted to see the enemy, so he was going to accompany him.

"As planned, if enemy scouts approach, you'll have no problem adding attacks."

My brother confirms it to my grandfather.

"That's fine," my grandfather replies, adding me.

"I think that's fine too, but if you were a great demon (Greater Demon), do it over. Liddy and Sharon are the only ones who can get into trouble in case they divulge it."

Everyone snorts at my words.

Following my brother, Hector speaks.

"What will be done to install the trap? Should I check the location with me and Guy as planned?

"Right. I'd like Zach to join us, but I want to prioritize reconnaissance. If Sharon or Lydia could confirm instead of Zach."

Traps often use earthly attribute magic, and my opinion matters most. However, I'm going to leave it to the veterans Hector to decide where it is more efficient than doing it alone.

The next day, I head north with my grandfather and Dan. To get to where I saw the dragons before.

There is more water than before, but still when you cross a level gorge called a creek, you climb straight up the mountain.

This gorge is connected to a place where enemies are present, with the option of proceeding along the gorge, but there are waterfalls more than thirty metres apart along the way, confirming that it is more efficient to climb the tight ridge of the gradient. By the way, thanks to that waterfall, the Grounddragons can't go directly to our base.

Climb the ridge for about two hours and you will arrive where your enemies can be seen. As usual, Dan was ahead and after making sure he was safe, he decided to head to the top of the ridge where the enemy could see him.

My grandfather was following Dan with his eyes as he breathed with his shoulders.

Dan tells me there's no problem, and my grandfather and I climb up together. Exactly is the gradient over thirty degrees harsh or my grandfather's breath goes up.

"Are you all right? I hear," but just say, "It's not okay," and keep climbing.

Reach where Dan is. I give my grandfather a water bottle, and in the meantime I peek into where my enemies are.

"Same as before, right? There are no Winged Demons and the Great Demons, but the others remain the same. Just the ground dragon and the first giant (Cyclops), the multi-headed snake dragon (Hydra) and the four-handed bear (Four Arms Bear). It just looks like Hydra and the four-handed bear are hurt."

Dan is right. The number is the same, as is the number of demons flying like sentinels.

Looks like my grandfather finished drinking water and crawled beside us. When I give him the telescope, he slowly peers under the valley.

"It's definitely not a ground dragon. That's a big one, too. And there's a terrible demon. Just one of them is a pain in the ass..."

Scouting enough, a winged demon-like figure came out of the cave. Behind him are two great demons obeying.

"Is that the Demon Clan... I do feel a comparable power to Vlad..."

And that guy showed up suddenly.

"He is! Oh, that's the enemy of the gods he said! ……

At that time, I was watching the Winged Demons and didn't know what they were talking about. As soon as he pointed a telescope at the cave, there stood a demon clan with pitch-black wings.

I'm not wielding my powers as before, but my arms with telescopes on the overwhelming forces start to tremble and my point of view is uncertain.

"My predecessors! Dear Zach! The enemy may have noticed!" Dan warns sharply.

The Dark Demons pointed this way, and three demons followed them.

"We're retreating," my grandfather ordered, and we're going down the ridge like slippery. But my unfamiliar grandfather starts to lag behind.

"Hide in the trees with your uncle," he commands Dan, and I too lurk in the trees nearby to intercept the demons.

The demons were swirling over the ridge many times trying to find us. But he didn't come into the woods, and after about five minutes of swirling, he went back to the valley.

I'm relieved that I didn't find it, but I can't stay alert yet. Because if the Dark Demons come at us, we have no chance of winning. Now I just have to lurk my breath and wait to give up.

I kept hiding enough, but the demons didn't come.

Join my grandfathers carefully and hurry to base.

"You're a terrible enemy. Never in my life have I cooled my liver so much... I'll have to rethink the operation when I get back..."

It originally assumed that the enemies of the gods could not move. For this reason, he was going to shred the demons who went out to scout and drag out the Winged Demons to destroy each and every one.

But that premise collapsed. Because if you have that much detectability, it's hard to ambush.

Faster your feet toward the base as you wrap up the bitter air.
