Seeing Lin Qi come downstairs, the old man called out, "Your breakfast is in the heating furnace. Go get it yourself."

Heating furnaces were generally used for processing parts for Prosthetic Bodies, but they could also be used as ovens if you turned the temperature down.

"After replacing the hardware, my fourth uncle immediately discovered Liu Siqi’s plan."

"But after we left last night, Liu Siqi had already made his move. He took Liu Weiyi and his men and left Red Fruit City overnight. We haven’t been able to track their movements yet."

Although the Liu Xingyuan and Liu Xinglu brothers had been caught off guard and backstabbed again, they were hardly incompetent. They ultimately discovered something was wrong through their own vigilance.

"Liu Li supports the proposal for United Pharmaceutical to become fully independent. If all goes well, after the next board meeting, United Pharmaceutical and the Liu Clan will sign a formal agreement, solidifying their strategic alliance."

What Liu Xuan was saying was highly technical, filled with corporate jargon and implications that only senior executives would grasp.

In simpler terms, it meant that Liu Xingyuan’s branch of the family now had complete control of Liu’s Heavy Industries, a massive purge was coming for the company’s inner circle, and United Pharmaceutical would officially become a partner to Liu’s Heavy Industries on equal footing.

However, thanks to Liu Xuan’s presence, the two entities would be closely tied, forming a strategic alliance similar to the previous one with the Si Clan.

At first glance, this seemed to have nothing to do with Lin Qi. In reality, however, it meant he would no longer have to worry about trouble from the Liu Clan in Red Fruit City over his shares in United Pharmaceutical.

After listening to Liu Xuan, Lin Qi remained calm. He nodded while picking up his spoon and scooping a lump of nutrient paste from the can.

"Why stop there, sister-in-law? You’re leaving out the other half," Lin Xin suddenly chimed in.

This was what they had been talking about before Lin Qi came downstairs.

Lin Qi swallowed the nutrient paste and looked at Liu Xuan curiously.

The blue light in Liu Xuan’s left eye suddenly flared much brighter. Then she spoke. "My father said he wants to meet you in a few days."

As she said this, the brightness of the blue light in her left eye continued to increase.

She paused for a moment, then added, "If you don’t want to, you don’t have to go. He won’t make things difficult for you."

Lin Qi froze, a fresh spoonful of nutrient paste already in his mouth. He’d even forgotten to swallow.

The bitter taste exploded on his tongue, and Lin Qi finally forced it down. He coughed, then asked, "Chairman Liu wants to see me? Why?"

That "Chairman Liu" was obviously in reference to Liu Xingyuan.

The blue light in Liu Xuan’s left eye pulsed erratically. Her brow furrowed, a clear sign that she was also thinking it over.

Meanwhile, Lin Xin just rolled her eyes at Lin Qi again. "What other reason could there be? You’ve already whisked my sister-in-law away to your home. You think Chairman Liu wouldn’t want to meet you?"

Lin Xin wasn’t overthinking things, and she didn’t believe Liu Xingyuan would give Lin Qi too much trouble.

It wasn’t a secret that she had backed Lin Qi up yesterday. Outsiders might not know the details, but Liu Xingyuan, the man at the helm of Liu’s Heavy Industries, had likely gotten wind of it.

If he had a deep enough understanding of how the Big Business Alliance operated, he could easily make the connection to the Eastern Alliance.

A megacorp in the Asian Administrative Region would never pass up an opportunity to have ties with the Eastern Alliance!

Lin Qi ignored Lin Xin. His gut told him things weren’t that simple.

’If that was the only reason, Liu Xingyuan would have arranged a meeting as soon as I returned to Red Fruit City.’

’Back then, I only met with his fourth uncle, Liu Xinglu. Liu Xingyuan didn’t seem to want to personally get involved in Liu Xuan’s private matters.’

Liu Xuan thought for nearly a minute, the blue light in her left eye glowing to its absolute brightest. Finally, she gave an answer that she herself seemed to find doubtful. "Perhaps... it’s because of me."
