Chapter 65: Surprise Visit By Old Man

I hadn’t even gone home last night.

With the concert so close, the entire venue complex had been running on absolute overdrive. Val had been patrolling the perimeter wards until the crack of dawn, while Yerin had been glued to the soundstage going over vocal tracks with Sarah.

Of course, Yerin did manage to sneak out to the parking garage around midnight, insisting on "properly thanking" me for saving her production with those two song lyrics. We ended up having an intensely passionate, backseat session inside my SUV, her soft moans echoing against the tinted glass, before the two of us finally fell asleep cuddled together under a warm blanket in the back seat.

By sunrise, she had kissed me awake and bounced right back to her vocal practice, leaving me to stretch my sore limbs before wandering out into the morning air.

Stepping onto the stadium floor, I was genuinely floored by what I saw. The construction hadn’t stopped for a single second overnight. The sprawling open-air arena was practically finished, the towering main stage glistening under the morning sun as workers ran final structural diagnostics. By the end of the day, the world’s largest stadium would be completely operational.

"Woah!" I blinked in surprise. "They really work fast. Now, I’m really curious about the technology they’re using."

[Along with technology, they’re also taking help from Mages, Boss. Humans with Astral Soul related to base elements like Earth, Metal and Fire exists. They’re pretty common, so Rothschild just picked them up and threw everyone here.]

I rubbed my chin thoughtfully, ’Wait! Can someone has Astral Soul related to Sex?’

[Boss, there’s legit gods in pantheons related to sex, you know. Of course, it is possible. As long as it exists, one can have Astral Soul related to it. Even E-cup boobs.]

My lips twitched and I decided to ignore this little brat.

SWOOSH!

A sharp gust of wind suddenly whipped across the concrete floor. I paused, looking up to see a flock of glossy black ravens descending rapidly from the sky.

The moment their feet touched the ground a few paces in front of me, the birds dissolved into swirling shadows, morphing instantly into a tall, dignified old man in a tailored suit who leaned on a silver-headed cane.

"Good morning, Grandfather," I greeted with a warm smile. "What brings you all the way out here today? Don’t tell me we’re doing another subterranean training session?"

Alistair Rothschild offered a fond, knowing smile, his sharp eyes crinkling at the corners. "Something like that, my boy. Today, I am going to broaden your horizons."

"Broaden my horizons?" I repeated, tilting my head.

"Indeed," Alistair nodded, resting both hands on his cane. "As we established during our initial tests, your reality manipulation relies heavily on two pillars: your imagination and your conceptual knowledge. To rewrite the laws of the world, you must first truly understand the world as it exists. Today, I intend to show you the wider supernatural realm."

My eyes instantly lit up. "Wait, really?!"

I paused, remembering tomorrow’s big event. "Hold on, Grandfather... I definitely want to go, but I need to be back here by tomorrow afternoon for Yerin’s concert. I promised her I’d be in the front row."

"Do not worry, Seth," Grandfather assured me with a booming, proud laugh. "We shall return long before her performance begins."

Relieved, I pulled out my phone and quickly sent a group text to Yerin and Val, letting them know I was stepping out with Grandfather for a short trip.

’Alright,’ I thought, turning back to Alistair. "I’m ready when you are, Grandfather!"

Seeing my excitement, Alistair chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Let me guess... you are standing there expecting me to snap my fingers, turn us into a flock of ravens, and instantly teleport us across the continent?"

A faint, embarrassed flush crept onto my face as I rubbed the back of my neck. "Well... yeah, kind of. I mean, you do the raven thing every time you leave a room! I thought instantaneous teleportation was standard high-tier magic."

Alistair turned and walked casually toward the VIP parking garage, his cane tapping rhythmically against the ground. "A common misconception. What I do with my ravens is a different case, not really Teleportation like you think. On Earth, instantaneous mass teleportation is heavily restricted."

I blinked, falling into step beside him. "Restricted? Is teleportation impossible or something?"

"It is entirely possible and heavily utilized in other realms," Alistair explained patiently. "However, Earth and humanity are uniquely fragile. If spatial travel were unrestricted here, hostile factions, demon lords, and rogue pantheons could freely drop armies into mortal cities or manipulate space-time to cause catastrophic collapse."

He paused, his expression turning solemn. "To prevent that, a colossal, primordial planetary barrier surrounds the entire Earth. It suppresses high-level space-time manipulation to an absolute minimum, rendering long-distance teleportation virtually impossible even for the strongest beings of foreign factions. Furthermore, the barrier seals and reinforces the boundary between the mortal realm and the Mirror Realm."

I listened intently, fascinated. "So the barrier is basically a cosmic firewall that keeps foreign virus like gods from invading Earth?"

"Precisely," Alistair said with a smile. "It is the sole reason Earth has enjoyed centuries of relative peace without being torn apart by supernatural wars."

"Who built something that massive?" I asked, awe evident in my voice. "It sounds like the work of an absolute legend."

A subtle, respectful glint flashed in Alistair’s eyes. "It was created by a King, Seth. A legendary ruler of unmatched authority."

I thought about it for a second, my mind pulling up historical legends. "Are you talking about King Arthur?"

Alistair gave a gentle shake of his head. "Arthur Pendragon was indeed a legendary king who contributed greatly to the defense of humanity, but no... he did not construct the barrier."

We finally reached the VIP garage, where a sleek, vintage black luxury sedan was waiting for us, a Rothschild driver holding the rear door open. Alistair climbed into the back seat, and I slid in beside him, closing the door behind us.

As the heavy car smoothly pulled out of the garage and headed toward the highway, I turned to Grandfather, my curiosity burning.

"If it wasn’t Arthur..." I asked, "then who was the King?"
