Chapter 566: Prelude to the Disaster [3]

As Lucien’s 50 fired arrows turned to 500 shards of raining golden flamed projectiles descending from the skies.

Sophia chanted with a vicious grin, "Half Life Shift...."

The Valkyrie had noted the main nodes of the territorial spell with her Half-Life marker when they had been destroyed each time.

Previously, Sophia could only mark living entities with her Half-Life Marker. But after her third phase advancement, now she could mark not only living entities but also something as abstract as specific nodes within a spell construct.

And instantly, she activated the Half-Life shift; all 10 of the main nodes of Zabiur’s territorial spell were brought down to their destroyed state, the state which Sophia had marked. This happened so abruptly and without warning that the whole spell was almost on the brink of collapse.

The Deathly Hollow suddenly received a massive backlash, with an enormous fraction of his energy reserves consumed in a single move.

This happened to the High-Lich just when he was about to defend against the raining flames.

Due to the backlash at that moment, the Lich was unable to properly defend itself, as the shards of broken arrows hit his figure, breaking through his defensive barrier and artifacts, due to the Draconic Gold Attributes’ effectiveness against the decaying Death Energy.

Some sharpnels of the silver shards tore into the lich’s skeleton, as if being embedded into the dark bones.

The long black robe worn by the Lich caught on golden flames, and for the first time, the hideous skeletal figure of the wretched High-Lich was revealed.

A pulsing Death core within its rib cage shone in Nether light.

The Deathly Hollow screeched in boundless pain, his skeleton now completely lit up by the harrowing dragon flames.

Axel, in that moment, whispered; his voice was a cold chill from the depths of the seas, "Change all the runes of the five variable artifacts to Mind."

[Mind x5 runes have been imposed upon all five Variable Artifacts...]

Axel’s mind felt as if his very consciousness was being stretched and empowered to an absurd degree.

Pain rushed through his soul like never before.

Empowering one particular part of his existence to such a degree was never truly a good idea, which was why Axel never tried to empower any one prospect of his too greatly, because this creates a deeply harmful dissonance within a singular existence.

But at this moment there was no other choice, for Axel Nomrad was about to deploy his very last, and most powerful move as the Absolute Runecaster.

Axel spread out both of his arms wide, closing his shimmering, runic eyes, feeling his mind being strengthened five times. He could now spread his energy sense to a much greater range. Encompassing even beyond the confines of this battlefield.

There were exactly 325,987 rune weapons spread throughout the battlefield, apart from the ones currently being used by the thousands of third-phase seekers of the Human Army.

Axel felt every single one of them, whether the weapons were broken or whole. The overwhelming bloodshed and slaughter had given birth to all the weapons of battle an incomprehensible spirit.

He called out to those unknown spirits of the rune weapon, due to maximum affinity to the path of Runic Sorcery; only he, the Absolute Runecaster, could do this, excluding Damien Nomrad, of course.

All the Rune weapons shuddered; they began to vibrate madly unlike never before. The metallic weapons, inscribed with flashing golden runes, shimmered in incandescent light, as if the spirit of each weapon had just come alive.

Axel raised his right hand upwards, as if pulling or calling something upwards...

The more than three hundred thousand rune weapons became afloat, until they disappeared with a flash, appearing beyond the black skies which manifested in between the real skies and the grounds of the battlefield due to the High-Lich’s territorial spell.

By the hand gesture of the Absolute Runecaster, the skies became lit up with Rune Weapons, every single one crafted by his own hands, his own blood and sweat and countless hours of effort in pursuit of perfection, walking on the path of Runic Sorcery.

Even Sophia and Lucien stared at this magnificent sight in disbelief; it was like the skies were filled with pulsing golden starlights.

Meanwhile, the expression on the face of the Sun King could not be any more twisted; he whispered, his kingly voice reaching toward two other individuals, "Can you feel it, Rugen and Uzbek? This feeling of unease, coming from that boy??"

King Rugen responded coldly, "Haven’t we already agreed to end the bloodline of that old slaughterer?"

King Uzbek chimed in, his voice a threat, "Even if you don’t kill the boy, I will do so myself, Leonidas."

The King of Suncrest sighed, "No need, I will do it; this boy is indeed a threat on the caliber of Damien Nomrad... or maybe even greater."

"To have the power to combat a quasi 5th phase existence while being a mere peak 2nd phase existence, what a monster."

"Even though it is not entirely his own power and a combination of countless other energy sources, strength is strength in the end, no matter how it may be achieved," concurred Leonidas in a hateful tone.

His killing intent and hate for the Nomrad bloodline had never been any greater.

Zabiur Ulpranak, who was burning in Golden flames and already in unfathomable pain, watched the skies being filled with mighty Rune Weapons, all aimed at him. The Lich almost felt despair at that sight.

Before he could have the chance at defending himself, the Absolute Runecaster brought down his raised right hand and proclaimed in a thunderous tone, "Sword Rain..."

And when the more than 300,000 rune weapons all rained down at the High-Lich, the Deathly Hollow, who was a mage branch specialist, was now forced to use his body to fight.

For the first time, he had to use his weak skeletal body and defend against an almost endless wave of rune weapons.

At this moment, a murderous voice echoed within his mind, the voice of the Absolute Runecaster: [The attack you used against Sophia, wasn’t it something just like this? Why are you struggling now, you piece of trash?]

Zabiur growled in calamitous fury; he only needed to hold on for a few seconds, and he would recover some of his powers, but the Lich did not forget to respond to the holder of the Runic eyes: [Wretched Human, inferior human, so you adore the Valkyrie]

The Lich laughed in a malevolent glee, [Good, good, I assure you, I will torture your women right in front of your eyes; I will make the beasts violate your women while you can only watch.]
