Chapter 278: Wonder What Would Happen

Yvonne’s two aunts followed closely behind them, but were stopped outside the door of the canteen.

The canteen required an access card, and since her aunts Lisa and Jane were not from the hospital, they naturally did not have access.

The two of them stood at the door, trying to get in, but to no avail. In the end, they could only leave in disappointment.

After the two of them left, Yvonne heaved a sigh of relief.

Only then did she realize that she had been too anxious and had grabbed Stanley’s arm. She realized that they were too intimate, so she quickly let go of him with a red face.

Stanley glanced at her strange behavior and frowned. "What happened just now?"

Yvonne realized that she had been rude. After all, Stanley hadn’t changed his clothes out from his hospital gown yet. She immediately felt a little apologetic and quickly said, "I just met someone I didn’t want to see. Thank you, Senior, I was too abrupt and you haven’t changed your clothes yet."

Stanley glanced at his white coat and said, "It doesn’t matter, it’s not my first time wearing the gown for a meal. Let’s go."

Yvonne nodded gratefully and the two of them went to the cafeteria.

Yvonne was grateful to Stanley for his help, so she picked up her courage and asked.

"By the way, Stanley, do you have any programs tonight?"

Stanley said, "What program can I have? I just want to sleep as soon as I get home. I’m so tired during the day that I just want to have a good rest."

"What about you?"

"Me too."

"Really? I thought you would have the energy to go out and play."

Yvonne lowered her head in embarrassment. In her heart, she thought, "In Stanley’s heart, I’m a playful girl. It’s not a good impression."

Thus, she hurriedly said, "Actually, I rarely go out to play. At most, I’ll go to the bar once in a while."

Stanley nodded with understanding.

Suddenly, his phone rang. He picked it up and glanced at it before saying, "I’m going to answer a call."

Yvonne nodded and watched him pick up the call.

Looking at his beautiful profile, Yvonne could not help but wonder if she should

confess her feelings to Stanley.

He was such a good person. It would be a pity if she missed her chance.

However, the cafeteria was not a good place to confess her love.

So, she gave up on this thought.

Stanley came back after answering the phone. "Yvonne, I’m sorry. I have something to do and have to go."

Yvonne was surprised.

"But, you haven’t finished eating yet."

Stanley said, "There’s not enough time. Please help me put the lunch tray back. Thank you."

After that, Stanley left, leaving Yvonne sitting there alone and poking at her food disappointedly.

All of a sudden, she lost her appetite.

Is Stanley so busy every day?

Not long after, her phone rang. It was from James Taylor. When Yvonne saw James’ name, she frowned in silence. Why did he keep calling her several times a day?

Even if they were very good friends, this was still too much.

Yvonne was very annoyed, but she thought that if she didn’t answer the phone, she didn’t know what would happen.

Thinking of this, she frowned and picked it up.

"Hello..."

Her voice sounded weak. James frowned and asked, "What’s wrong? Are you tired today?"

Yvonne replied, "I’m fine. What can I do for you?"

James then chuckled and said, "It’s nothing. I’m just calling to ask if you’re tired."

Yvonne felt that his question was ridiculous. Her job did not require manual labor, so what was there to be tired about?

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up."

...

"Don’t, listen to me first." James said hurriedly, "If you feel tired, remember to call and tell me."

Yvonne was speechless. "Is it of any use to call him when I’m tired? Is he going to cure my tiredness or what?"

She couldn’t help sneering in her heart and said, "Got it. I’m hanging up."

After that, she ended the call.

When James heard the disconnected tone, he frowned and put his phone aside.

He had arranged for many people to go for consultations today. He was worried that she would be tired, so he called to ask.

But she said she was not tired. How could it be?

James was doubtful.

However, since she said she was not tired, then she should be fine.

He did not continue to think about it. Instead, he looked at the time and found it was time for dinner.

He should have made an appointment to have dinner with her. However, recalling that he had been rejected several times in a row, he gave up the idea.

"I’d better have dinner alone."

He got up and walked out.

In the hospital, Yvonne was still not sure if her two aunts were still there. After coming out of the cafeteria, she did not dare to go back to the office. Instead, she went around to the back door of the hospital and went to the lounge.

When she entered the lounge, there were already a few colleagues inside. As soon as she walked in, she heard them chatting.

"Did you guys hear? Recently, someone bought out all the consultation slots for our hospital."

"What?"

"Seems like someone paid people to come see our doctors."

"Ah? There’s such a thing? What for?"

"Some people probably want to fake their own popularity."

The few of them had been talking excitedly, but when they saw Yvonne, they quietened down immediately.

Yvonne was a little confused.

But since she wasn’t familiar with them anyway, she didn’t care and lay down on her small bed.

Her colleagues didn’t continue and got up to leave one by one, leaving Yvonne alone in the lounge.

She was not bothered by it at all, and she slowly closed her eyes, but she could not fall asleep, no matter how hard she tried.

She couldn’t be more familiar with her family’s personality.

At noon, she managed to escape, but they would never let her go so easily.

"What if they come to the hospital again to cause trouble?"

Thinking of this, Yvonne could not help but feel annoyed.

She lost all desire to sleep.

She got up, walked out of the lounge, and quietly glanced around the office. Both her aunts were not there.

Could it be that they’d left?

Just as she was thinking about it, someone suddenly called her from behind.

"Yvonne."

Yvonne was shocked and quickly turned around. When she saw that it was Stanley, she let out a sigh of relief.

"It’s just you."

Seeing that she didn’t look well, Stanley frowned.

"What’s wrong?"

Yvonne was afraid that he would see through her thoughts and said, "It’s nothing. By the way, Stanley, didn’t you leave because you had something else to do?"

Stanley replied, "It’s not a big deal. I came back after dealing with it."

"Oh."

Yvonne nodded her head in understanding.

"By the way, Yvonne, I heard something, but I don’t know if you’ve heard of it."

Stanley asked.

Yvonne asked, "What is it?"

Stanley paused for a moment before saying, "Here’s the thing. Someone in the hospital’s chat group was saying that recently, someone in our hospital paid for people to come for consultations."

Hearing Stanley’s words, Yvonne recalled what she had heard earlier and nodded.

"I’ve heard of it as well."
