Chapter 249 Ignore them
Later, the man remarried.
The new wife was from the countryside and had no social standing.
But she was extremely kind to Gary’s second uncle’s daughter, Darla, and even bore him a son.
Having a son in his old age, the Uncle doted on that woman even more.
However, Gary had never heard anything about the two families planning to form an alliance through marriage.
Mainly because he didn’t pay much attention to such matters.
But alliances between wealthy families were commonplace. If the Hudson family were to form an alliance with the Gordon family, it would be a powerful union, strengthening the ties between the two families.
Someone asked, “Gary, if your cousin asked you to help her pursue Stephan, would you choose to help her, or...”
Gary interrupted calmly, “I don’t want to help anyone. Stephan is bringing his girlfriend over later, don’t bring this up in front of them. It’ll ruin the mood.”
No sooner had he spoken than the door to the private room swung open.
Hearing the commotion, everyone turned to look in unison.
A man and a woman, dressed in matching blue outfits, appeared before everyone, hand in hand, acting completely at ease.
Stephan was an old acquaintance so everyone instinctively looked past him to the girl by his side.
Standing beside him, she looked exceptionally petite against the backdrop of his towering, imposing figure.
She wore a blue strapless dress with a cinched waist that hugged her slender figure, her legs long and fair.
Then there was her face, delicate as jade, with eyes and brows like a painting, and a gaze as gentle as flowing water.
Her delicate, straight nose and soft, crimson lips were a beauty one could never forget.
Especially her eyes, clear and pure, moist and shimmering, radiating innocence with a hint of allure.
One couldn’t help but be utterly captivated. Everyone was stunned by her beauty and let out a collective gasp of admiration.
Gary saw the girl beside Stephan, but showed no surprise, it seemed he had already guessed as much.
Alana hadn’t expected so many people in the private room, at a glance, there were over a dozen.
With so many eyes fixed on her, she couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous.
Stephan noticed the sudden sweat on her palms and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Don’t just stare at my girlfriend...she gets shy easily.”
Alana had almost managed to calm her nerves.
But now that Stephan had called her out, her cheeks flushed involuntarily. She secretly pinched his thigh, scolding him for speaking so carelessly.
Stephan chuckled as he pinched her mischievous hand, then led her over to the group.
“Let me introduce you to my girlfriend, Alana.”
The crowd snapped out of their daze and let out a collective “Wow!”
Then, as if they’d rehearsed it beforehand, they all shouted in unison,
“Sister-in-law!”
Hearing them call her “Sister-in-law,”Alana blushed even more.
But she managed to keep her composure and greet them.
“Hello, everyone. Just call me Alana.”
Someone teased, “Sister-in-law, Stephan’s here so we wouldn’t dare call you by your first name.”
Alana blushed and was too embarrassed to speak.
Stephan chuckled and wrapped his arm around her waist. “Ignore them. Let’s go sit over there.”
Stephan led Alana to an empty table and sit down.
Someone asked eagerly, “Sis, would you like a drink? Let me pour you a glass!”
Before Alana could say a word, Stephan declined on her behalf.
“She doesn’t drink. Pour her some juice.”
“Sure thing!”
A glass of orange juice was placed in front of Alana.
Alana took the juice and thanked him politely.
Another person asked curiously, “Sis, you’re so beautiful. How did you end up with Stephan?”
Alana took a sip of juice and nearly choked when she heard the question.
Stephan immediately patted her on the back to help her clear her throat.
He shot the young man a glance. “Mind your business!”
The man laughed awkwardly. “Sorry, we’re just really curious!”
Stephan replied calmly, “We met at a restaurant. It was love at first sight, and I made the first move. Is there a problem with that?”
The crowd was surprised; they really hadn’t expected Stephan to be the type of man who would actively pursue a woman.
Gary asked with a smile, “How did you pursue her? You didn’t just muscle in as a homewrecker, did you?”
He was really laying into him right to his face.
Upon hearing this, Alana began to choke even more.
Stephan gave her a forced smile. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m my girlfriend’s first love.”
Cole doesn’t count!
He lowered his gaze to look at Alana, his smile full of affection. “Sweetheart, am I right?”
Alana mumbled, “Mm-hmm.”
Gary clicked his tongue.
This guy...that wasn’t what he told him back then.
He’d claimed the girl was already taken and Gary warned him not to pursue her if he didn’t want to make a fool of himself.
Stephan, worried Alana might feel uncomfortable, brought her a plate of fruit and fed her a piece himself.
He took a toothpick, skewered a piece of cantaloupe, and held it to her lips. “Have some fruit.”
Alana opened her mouth obediently.
The honeydew was juicy and sweet enough.
After feeding her one piece, he offered another.
Everyone watching was treated to a full mouthful of their lovey-dovey display.
There were quite a few men in the
private room who had brought their girlfriends along. Seeing Stephan actively serving his girlfriend food and drinks, the women couldn’t help but feel envious.
Their own boyfriends, on the other hand, were born to be waited on; getting them to wait on their girlfriends was harder than climbing Mount Everest.
Fred, surrounded by women on both sides, fixed his gaze on Alana and suddenly blurted out, “Looking at you, sis-in-law, you seem kind of familiar.”
When Alana saw Fred, she coughed several times, caught off guard.
She remembered: that night, her colleague Vets had tricked her into working as a waitress at a bar, and it was this man who had specifically asked her to stay.
Fred remembered too. He stood up in disbelief. “You... you’re the waitress from that night at the bar?”
Hearing this, everyone turned to look at Alana.
What?
Their sister-in-law was actually a bar waitress?!
The esteemed Stephan Hudson actually chose a bar waitress as his girlfriend?
If this... got out, what kind of reputation would that bring?!
Alana’s breath caught in her throat; the calm she’d just regained instantly gave way to anxiety.
Could it be that his friends are looking down on her?!
Upon hearing this, Stephan shot a withering glare at the tactless Fred. Noticing Alana’s anxiety, he took her hand without hesitation.
“So what if she’s a waitress? What I love is Alana as a person, not any other title. Any job she chooses is her down decision. I’m willing to respect her and support her.”
After speaking, Stephan looked deeply into Alana’s eyes, his gaze earnest and resolute.
Alana bit her lip, deeply moved.
That sense of anxiety and unease vanished instantly, swept away by his warm protection.
Moreover, he said he didn’t care about her status, even if he’d known she’d been abandoned by her parents, would he still love her just as much?
After reassuring Alana, Stephan turned to face the crowd and defended her without hesitation, “She’s my girlfriend, and I’ll protect her. Anyone who bullies her is deliberately picking a fight with me.”
After saying this, he deliberately shot Fred a meaningful glance.
Fred realized he had said the wrong thing and immediately slapped himself hard across the face.
“Stephan, I’m deeply sorry. Sister-in-law, I’m sorry...I spoke without thinking! Here’s a toast to you...to make amends!” Fred quickly poured himself a full glass of liquor, raised it to Alana, and downed it in one gulp.
He then bowed ninety degrees to Alana, begging for forgiveness.
Alana wasn’t the type to make a big deal out of nothing. Seeing his sincere apology,
she graciously accepted it.
After this little incident, everyone realized how protective Stephan was of Alana, and they treated her with even greater respect.
