"Haoran? He is indeed a good fit." As the vice general manager, Jiang Haibo also oversaw the legal department, so he was quite familiar with Li Haoran.

Li Haoran was thirty years old and a firm believer in staying single. He’d majored in commercial law and previously worked for a time at the "Dog Factory," one of the big tech giants. Early last year, he saw how toxic the internal environment at the company was and promptly packed up and left.

After that, he worked in Shanghai for a while but found the pressure too intense. He quit and returned to his hometown of Jinhua, unemployed. Facing his parents’ constant nagging and pressure to marry, he headed south again to find work. It wasn’t until this past March that he joined Hailufeng Company.

The main reason Jiang Miao had his eye on Li Haoran was his rather diverse resume.

He had delivered food, run a street stall, worked at a law firm, been part of the legal team at the Dog Factory, been a content creator, held a management position at a startup in Shanghai, and even spent over two months as a legal consultant for a drone company in Peng City.

A man like that was the epitome of someone with a wealth of experience, but his expertise in any single area was likely average. That made him perfect for an oversight position. Because he understood a little bit of everything and had experience at the ground level, he knew how things worked, which would make it easier to carry out his duties.

As for why he was willing to work at Hailufeng Company, the reason was also quite simple: the work was straightforward, and it allowed him to escape his parents’ nagging. He was a pretty laid-back guy.

With Jiang Miao’s arrangements in place, the sales department was in for a major shake-up.

The company had an employee training building situated in Nanhu Village.

The four of them—Wang Bohua, Zheng Shengtian, Huang Lili, and Yan Xinting—had been transferred back from the field for over a month, but in all that time, they hadn’t noticed anything amiss.

The only exception was Wang Bohua, who was feeling rather sullen. He was mostly jealous that Zheng Siwen had been rocket-promoted while he himself had been recalled to serve as a trainer.

In truth, if the four of them had spoken privately, they would have discovered they had all engaged in some dirty dealings.

Unfortunately for them, Jiang Miao had long ago anticipated their exact mentality.

Although this bunch were all colleagues in the sales department, they usually just chatted and boasted in the group chat. Because their work territories were geographically distant, their relationships were limited to a surface-level friendship.

Under such circumstances, with each of them having a guilty conscience, they would never open up to the others. They would rather let the secret rot in their own stomachs.

It would take a few more months of getting to know one another before they might possibly confess their past embezzlement.

As Wang Bohua was explaining company regulations to a dozen or so new employees, he suddenly saw Sales Manager Li Zhou and General Manager Jiang Haibo at the door of the training room, followed by five or six police officers.

Zheng Shengtian, Huang Lili, and Yan Xinting, who were also in the training room, saw this and immediately felt a sense of foreboding.

Wang Bohua forced an awkward smile and asked, "General Manager Jiang, Manager Li, is something the matter?"

Li Zhou’s expression was grim. "It’s good that you’re all here. It saves me from having to notify you one by one. I will now announce a decision from the company. In light of the actions of Wang Bohua, Zheng Shengtian, Huang Lili, and Yan Xinting—who, during their time working in the field, colluded with fish farmers, falsified reports of eel fry losses, illegally collected commissions from said farmers, and fabricated discounts—I am hereby officially notifying you that you have been terminated from the company. Your case has been handed over to the relevant authorities."

"What?" Huang Lili was so terrified her legs gave out, and she collapsed into her chair.

Cold sweat beaded on her boyfriend Zheng Shengtian’s forehead, and his body began to tremble.

The shorter Yan Xinting began to stammer excuses in a panic. "Manager Li, General Manager Jiang, I didn’t do it! It must be those farmers trying to frame me! I’ve been wronged!"

"Y-Yeah... I didn’t do anything like that, I..." Wang Bohua had snapped out of it and quickly tried to defend himself.

"See for yourselves! Then you can tell me if the company has wronged you." Li Zhou tossed the files, each marked with one of their names, toward them.

Wang Bohua and Yan Xinting caught the files tossed at them. Clearly, neither of them was ready to give up; they were still clinging to the foolish hope that the company couldn’t have found any real evidence of their embezzlement.

As if clutching at straws, Zheng Shengtian and Huang Lili also shakily picked up their files from the floor.

However, as they opened the files, their faces turned deathly pale in an instant, and their hands trembled as they held the documents.

The first to break was the only female salesperson, Huang Lili. Her face was instantly streaked with tears. "SOB... I was wrong! It was all Zheng Shengtian’s idea! I only took fifty thousand yuan... SOB, SOB... I’m willing to return it! Don’t arrest me... I don’t want to go to jail..."

As she spoke, the acrid smell of urine began to fill the training room.

Zheng Shengtian’s face twisted in shocked fury, and he immediately started screaming, "You bitch! Where do you think all that money you spent on having fun came from? How dare you say you only took fifty thousand? What about your designer bags and high-end cosmetics...?"

The dozen or so new employees in the room were completely stunned by the scene unfolding before them.

They weren’t too worried, however. As new hires who hadn’t even been formally assigned to a job yet, there was no way they could have been involved in any financial crimes.

Right now, these new employees had only one thought: to sit back and quietly enjoy the drama. It was just a shame they had chairs but no popcorn.

"So, do you still feel the company has wronged you?" Jiang Haibo finally spoke. He turned his head to Ma Qiang, the deputy captain of the Economic Crime Investigation Division who had led the team over.

"Captain Ma, we’ve finished our part. I’ll leave the rest to you and your officers."

"It’s our duty." Ma Qiang nodded slightly, then waved his hand. "Take them away!"
