Chapter 75: Horde
****In the Omnisphere****
Lisa had been standing behind a tree for quite a while now, staring at the group that had created a full-blown settlement outside the city.
They had prepared everything they needed for a long stay out here, from tents to benches to entertainment; everything was fully prepared.
As time passed and the day shifted into night, Lisa watched as more and more people returned from the Forest of Chaos looking extremely disappointed.
’They probably hadn’t managed to make that much progress in growing their Genetic tree and that is actually pretty expected; I doubt they would find any beast,’ Lisa analyzed as she watched people return to Evergreen City.
Everyone walked by the group without a single reaction from any of them; it was almost as if they weren’t waiting there for anyone. Instead, they were just there on an excursion.
’I might be able to go in unnoticed,’ she came to that conclusion after checking multiple things.
For example, the time of the day, it was already getting dark, which means it was harder to see faces clearly, the group wasn’t actually alert, and finally, there were a large number of people entering the city at once right now.
’I should be able to blend in with one of them,’
After that conclusion, Lisa began looking out for any group she could blend in with, and it didn’t take her a long time before she found one.
It was a large group of five bearers, all of them looking just about her age, and they weren’t talking at all, which made it much easier.
She anticipated that path of movement and waited for the right moment to move without attracting any extra attention.
Just as she had planned, when the group got to that perfect distance, she moved to slowly meld into them while making sure she was staying just far enough to not spook the people while still remaining close enough to be considered part of them.
With that, her plan was executed perfectly, at least almost perfect. When the group was just about to pass through the gate into the city, they suddenly felt something.
Lisa was the first person to actually pick it up first enough; a tremor was traveling through the ground with astonishing speed.
Though it could be due to multiple reasons and doesn’t necessarily mean trouble was coming, she still turned to look at the people that had set up camp in front of the City and from their reaction, she knew it wasn’t something small.
The people that had been leisurely having fun not too long were now looking extremely serious, their weapons out and their faces tense.
Tunun!!!!!
The sound of a trumpet suddenly sounded out from deep in the forest, followed by an increase in the tremor, and now it was accompanied by a loud Marching sound.
"Shit, a Beast horde is approaching."
That same realization flooded through everyone’s mind at the same time, especially Lisa; her thoughts had already begun spiraling.
’Do I run into the City and return home, or do I stay here? What do I do?’
"Lord Marcus, they are here," Lisa suddenly heard someone say.
’What? They expected this?’
****Old World****
Morden stared with wide eyes as the spear flew through the air with breakneck speed; it would pierce the Abyssal leader soon.
Thankfully the Abyssal Leader had already seen Morden when he was about to initiate the attack; he knew what it was supposed to do.
He had been trying to actually do his part, proactively guiding his opponent towards the perfect spot, but he hadn’t expected the heavenly Leader to move at that time, and now he was the one in danger.
He couldn’t accept it.
In that short moment, he abandoned his elusive style and instantly became brutish. He stretched out both hands, grabbed his opponent, activated its ability, and immediately yanked him back to his previous position.
The Heavenly leader had already heard the sound of the spear being released behind him. So dodging it had dodged to the side with the thought that he had successfully escaped.
But then he felt his opponent’s firm grip and sharp yank; he immediately realized one thing: He was dead
Pwisshh
The spear entered his head straight in the middle; before he could even think further, he had died.
Morden watched the Heavenly leader drop like a puppet with its strings cut, blood pooling fast beneath its head.
"It almost died," Morden said, still catching his own breath.
Instead, the Abyssal just grunted and thumped his own chest once, like it was nothing. Maybe to a beast that size, it really was nothing. Or maybe he just didn’t want to admit how close it actually was.
"Looks like it’s over," Morden muttered.
Morden wasn’t wrong; with the Heavenly leader now dead, the underlings would surely scatter soon.
He watched as the Abyssal leader picked up the axe that was meant to kill him and brought it straight down on the Heavenly leader’s neck; he wanted to dismember it directly.
’He deserves to be fierce,’
Seeing how the Abyssal switched from being the one on the lesser hand to being the one the Victor was doing whatever he liked for the loser.
It really brought back some memories.
’I really did need this,’ he thought, leaning back against a tree.
His mind drifted, unwillingly, to Darlus and Lisa. He hadn’t seen either of them since the fog separated them, and sitting here now, safe and fed on adrenaline, he felt the absence more than he had all day.
"I hope you two are doing better than I am," he muttered under his breath.
He watched as the Abyssal leader slowly approached him; with a very obvious limp, he was bruised and battered, but he was still smiling.
He had taken care of the problem that had been plaguing them, and now he and his group members were free.

Morden was busy reading through the text when it all suddenly glitched.
