Chapter 53: Load of Questions
"Guardians of the Omnisphere," Morden muttered.
The name itself was already enough for the two of them to know the status of the two figures at the gate. But the name alone wasn’t enough for Morden; he still had multiple questions in mind.
"Dud, do you two of you see them turn to look at me?" Morden asked.
"Yes, I did, and it still baffles me as to why they did that, of all the times I have been here, I have never seen them show any reaction, not to even speak of turning."
"You are really something," she said.
On the side, Darlus was in a more passive role; he wasn’t saying anything nor doing anything conspicuous—he just remained there quietly.
’It must be because of this damn attribute,’ Morden concluded.
Since the very beginning, anything that had happened to him that was strange and unsettling or bad always had something to do with his attribute, so this time Morden came to the same conclusion.
"Here’s not the place to think or ask questions; we need to move deeper," Lisa said, to which Darlus nodded in approval.
From there the three of them stuck together and moved deeper into what Lisa called the Forest of Chaos.
Knowingly or unknowingly, the trio had a formation that highlighted some things.
Lisa remained at the front of the group, leading the two with clean and precise accuracy; Morden was in the middle scanning the left and right sides for anything, while Darlus was at the back.
They moved for a few more minutes until they arrived at a clearing where Lisa stopped.
"We are still too close to the city, so there’s a very low likelihood of meeting a genetic beast here, so let’s rest here for a bit and strategize."
Listening to Lisa speak, Morden couldn’t help but feel a certain level of fear in him.
’She speaks so loudly in a location, though I know she can’t help it since she isn’t hearing herself; it still makes me worried we will attract attention.’
Following Lisa’s instructions, they quickly made quick work of their surroundings and took a few scans to make sure before resting on logs of wood they could find.
"So why exactly are they after us?" Darlus spoke up for the first time in a while.
Lisa had been alternating her gaze between the two of her teammates, hoping to not miss it when one of them finally spoke, though she lingered on Morden more, so she felt slightly shocked when Darlus was the first one to actually speak.
"You should have gotten an idea from the notification we received when we were entering right."
"It seems like our entry at the same time seemed to have sparked some strange reaction in the Omnisphere, and now a Citywide Event has begun."
What Lisa just explained was something the two boys had already guessed from all the Clues they had, but what they wanted to know was why.
"How does the Citywide Event directly concern us for them to be searching for us specifically, and why exactly are they searching for us? I get that the Citywide Event was initiated by our presence; how do they capture us and stop it?" Darlus asked again with the same intensity.
Since she had been staring at him the whole time to get what he was saying, the instant he finished speaking she was ready to give her hypothesis on the matter but her eyes caught sight of Morden’s mouth moving on the side so her attention shifted to him.
"I think I know how they think we are the ones, at least for the two of us."
"It was probably our countenance, thinking back to it, when I just arrived here, I moved downstairs with an inquisitive look that I am sure that seasoned Bearers can pick up Immediately. I even went ahead to speak to someone; every call is crazy lazy."
"And for you, you got Red stones, heading downstairs and immediately spent three of them taking the carriage to the City square even without knowing their value. I am sure people would have noticed that two."
"So imagine, you receive a notification about the presence of new people, and then you see two people acting the way we did. I am sure you yourself will conclude."
Morden finished his long explanation and immediately released an exhausted breath.
’That was a long stretch of words,’
After listening to Morden’s explanation, Darlus turned to Lisa to see her take on the matter and noticed she was nodding her head in approval, and Morden noticed it too.
"That seals it then; we know how they know we are the ones, but we still don’t know why they immediately decide to capture us."
"It’s like they have been expecting it, just too suddenly."
The two of them looked at Lisa this time, expecting her to answer.
"Hmmmm, I guess that’s just how efficient the Bearer’s organization in Evergreen city is."
"Any problem, quarrel, or squabble is immediately neutralized by them, even before it really starts."
"Bearer’s organization? There’s one here?" Morden asked.
"Yes, there’s, ever spawn city of the Omnisphere has their own Bearers organization, their own Guardian of the Omnisphere, and even a different style; those are things common to all."
"You were probably wondering why the buildings were structured like that and why there are carriages around, but that’s just the style of Evergreen city."
"Some cities may be underground, underwater, extremely futuristic, or primitive. I can even say it’s really random, each city having their own type of genetic beasts and difficulties."
"That’s diverse," Morden couldn’t help but mutter.
His Earth brain was already imagining how things would be in those places.
While his mind strayed, he was suddenly snapped back by the thought of something very important.
He willed it in his mind, and just like a Red stone materialized in his hand while he looked at Lisa.
"What are these and where exactly can I get them?"
