Chapter 73: Darlus’s solution
****A few hours ago****
[Welcome the Old World]
"Where the hell even am I?" Darlus muttered while staring at the rocky ceiling up ahead.
"Where are Morden and Lisa? We were in the fog together, weren’t we?"
"Why did they get here together? they absolutely need to feel the pain I am currently feeling."
He couldn’t move; even turning his head was a real hassle for him at this point, so he did the only logical thing he could think of in that instant, and that was to rant.
All while the pain in his body was slowly subsiding, he just kept talking on and on without anyone to listen. About thirty minutes later the pain had finally subsided enough for him to move; the first thing he did was approach the rocky wall and feel it.
"Though it is really bumpy, this wall actually looks quite nice," he said with a nod.
"Now which way do I go, right or left?"
He looked at both sides of the tunnel to decide, his eyes alternating between them. His eyes locked in as if he was really contemplating it.
"You know what, I will just move a little further through the two and see if I can see any signs of anything familiar."
Having made his decision, Darlus turned towards the left and walked a few meters ahead. He soon spotted light ahead, but instead of getting closer, he turned around to explore the other side.
On the other side, he also saw light, but this one was much dimmer and darker. This time he decided to approach it.
In the end he arrived at the Abyssal part of the mountain and looked down.
"Woahhh, this place is really scary, and I am even so far up; there’s no way I could go down there," he said while shaking his head.
Without hesitation, he turned around and headed for the left side.
On the Left side, Darlus saw the sun shining, the beautiful clouds, and the scene below and immediately smiled.
"Now this is a beautiful sight; just so sad that I can’t go down."
"You know what, I will just lie here to wait for whatever."
****Present Time****
The Uncommon-grade Golden-furred Monkey stared at Morden with an intense hatred, like they were sworn enemies.
"Bro, why so much hate? I barely even know you," Morden said with a strange smile.
Ever since the fight had started or even since he had arrived in this settlement for the first time, he had felt his spirit being boosted by quite a lot.
The intensified even further when the battle started, every kill just filled with a strange excitement.
Morden himself knew it was strange, but he also didn’t have time to dwell on it that much.
Grrhhhh!
The Monkey grabbed his first throwing spear, took a step back, and pumped his hands.
In Morden’s eyes, the form looks exactly the same as the beast he had fought during his first trial.
In the blink of an eye, the spear was hurled at him with neck-breaking speed. He had seen such a move before, so he knew exactly how to block such an account.
He did a quick side step, leaving the attack path, but that wasn’t all he did. He even used the Ghost slayer sword to cut the spear cleanly into two.
He then doubled down and rushed towards his opponent.
[Speed +20(temp)]
With his newfound speed, Morden rushed at his opponent. He had fought about 10 Golden-furred Monkeys since he had gotten his tattoo, and if there was something he had learned from all those battles, it was that.
The Golden-furred Monkeys as beasts almost always specialize; it’s either that they are Spear throwers, archers or they fought unarmed.
Those who use Lord-mid-ranged weapons aren’t that good in close combat; it is even safe to say they’re extremely bad.
That opportunity was just what Morden wanted to exploit. He got close and sent over a sword Slash. Just like he anticipated, the beast didn’t even attempt to dodge.
His sword hit, but sadly it didn’t cut through flesh. It just bounced off.
"It must have used a boost."
"Annoying ability,"
His opponent noticed Morden’s was wide open from his failed attack, so he immediately attempted to take advantage.
It stretched out his hands to grab Morden on the shoulder, and he was successful. With his hand gripping Morden tightly, the Uncommon-grade Monkeyn activated Boost.
"Haaaaa—" Morden wanted to scream out, but he still held himself back.
His lack of proper training with a sword had cost him.
With his second hand, Morden grabbed his sword and swung it at the hand grabbing his shoulder.
[Strength +20(temp.)]
The attack landed heavily on the hand, and the sword was almost completely cut through the arm.
Woohhhaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!
The monkey shouted while instinctively releasing his grip
Morden was free now, and he was extremely pissed; his eyes were locked on the thrashing beast.
’Let’s try this style,’
His opponent wasn’t paying too much attention to him anymore; now was the best time to test out what he had just learned.
He moved closer to his opponent and made sure he was in a position that prevented him from being affected by the thrash.
following that he sent a slow slash towards the beast exposed neck. The sword was moving so slow that it almost looked like it was in slow motion.
Despite its speed, though, the sword kept getting closer and closer to the target neck. When it finally arrived at the best distance away
[Speed +20(temp.)]
Following that, without a single doubt, the attack landed exactly where it was supposed to be. Though the technique wasn’t actually the best. The Uncommon-grade beast was dead.
[UnCommon-grade Golden-furred Monkey killed: Gene shard +10]
Morden read the text in front of him and nodded.
"Ten gene shards—that actually isn’t too bad."
"I wonder where the monkey Leader is, Epic-grade beast should give about a hundred shards."
RROOOOOOAAARRRR!!!!!!!
"The fight of Leaders has begun."
