Chapter 426: Deliberate, Are You Crazy?
From the information that they had obtained, it was clear that they were supposed to deal with one mutant. But now, looking over, Kate could see that there was a group of 4 people.
She could not exactly tell if the other three were also mutants, but she immediately recognized the target that they were supposed to deal with.
Something that she found odd was the fact that this group was just sitting on the floor, as if they were waiting for someone or something. They were not moving at all, but from the way that they were sitting, it was clear that they were cautious.
Each person looked in a certain direction, as if they were already anticipating that someone would appear. It was just that they were not sure about what exact direction that person would appear in.
As her expression faltered, she immediately retracted her head, looking at Lina with a bewildered expression on her face.
For a moment, she admitted that she almost thought that Lina was playing a prank on her. With her ability to be able to distort senses, this was something that she could easily accomplish.
But looking at Lina who seemed to be looking at her for answers, she realized that this was not the case.
She went ahead and gestured at Lina, showing her four fingers, implying that they were four people on the other side of the wall.
Lina raised her brows slightly, but other than that, she did not have much of a reaction. To her, it seemed that it did not matter the number of mutants that they would have to face.
In any case, as long as none of the mutants possessed a high level ability that could match hers, it would be quite easy for her to be able to deal with them.
Lina went ahead and peeked, looking at the four people. Then, she looked at Kate and spoke as if nobody was around, "Do you want to deal with them one by one, or do you want to face all of them at once?"
Kate was left speechless by this. Did Lina not understand what she was doing? With her speaking like this, it was obvious that those for would immediately hear her.
She had obviously done this deliberately. As for the question of if Kate wanted to deal with them one by one or all of them at once, who was there any other choice?
But as soon as this thought appeared in her mind, she remembered, it would not be a problem for Lina to be able to make those 4 face her one after the other.
"I guess I will try them all out at first. Or, let’s do this, I will face one of them at a time. If one of them is not strong enough to be able to give me a challenge, you can allow another one to join the fight.
I want to test them out, and hopefully, they are strong. Otherwise, it would be a wasted trip this time." Kate responded.
If the four were all mutants, and they were strong, they would be able to push Kate to the limit. With Lina around, Kate would not have to worry that much about things getting out of hand.
But of course, she had to make sure that she focused on the fight, and completely forgot about the fact that Lina was here. Only then would she be able to be much more effective during the fight, by pushing herself as much as possible.
While the two ladies were chatting with each other, almost as if they had completely forgotten about the existence of those four, the topic of their discussion reacted.
At first, they had not anticipated that someone would get this close to them without them realizing it. Therefore, the moment that Lina spoke, they immediately got up, looking at the direction that the voice was coming from.
At the same moment, they were extremely cautious, ready to take action in case the two ladies attacked. But the group of four was left completely dumbfounded as they listened in on the conversation of the two ladies.
From the way that they were talking, it was clear that they did not really pay them much mind. They did not take them seriously at all!
As men, they had their own pride. How could they allow someone to look down on them like this? At that moment, they became furious.
One of them was just about to act when he was stopped by another bulk guy. The bulky guy with short blonde hair shook his head as he looked at the other three one after the other.
Immediately, the three around him calmed down, as they understood his implication. At the moment, they were not sure about who those two people were.
They still had to know who those do were, what their aim was, and if they were mutants, already believed from the way that they were talking, what types of abilities they possessed.
Therefore, the four of them did not take action. But even then, they were extremely cautious looking around, waiting for the two ladies to make a move.
Soon, they could hear that the two ladies had already finished discussing. And from the way that they were talking, they could tell that they were very confident in their abilities.
It was just that the group of four was left unsure about why they were so confident. The four of them meeting up here, it was something that had just been arranged, and only the four of them knew about it.
They were waiting for someone, to make a deal. But the person that was supposed to handle this issue felt that things might not go as planned. Therefore, he invited the other 3, so that they could cover for each other.
And now, those that had appeared, they were obviously not who they were waiting for. In fact, they did not even recognize those voices. And, they did not remember offending someone, at least they did not remember offending those two voices.
As they were still wondering about the source of the conflict, Kate finally walked out from behind the wall.
The four men immediately focused their gazes on her, trying to identify her. But even as they looked at her, they realized that they could not recognize her at all.
This was definitely the first time that they were meeting. So, what kind of conflict could insist between them? Could it be that it was a misunderstanding?
While they were thinking about this, the bulky guy immediately asked, "Young lady, may we know the reason why you are targeting us? I believe that we have never crossed paths before, right?"
Kate did not hide, as she responded, "That’s true. We have never met before. But one of you is suspected of illegal activities that go against the rules that were set for mutants.
Thereby, I’m here to arrest him. And looking at you, it seems that you are accomplices. Therefore, I hope that you can cooperate and come with me for questioning."
"Are you crazy? Do you think that we are idiots? Since you already know about the situation about us, there is no need for us to continue talking. I will beat you up first, then I can have my own fun later on." One of the four could not hold himself back anymore, as he retorted angrily.
This guy, he had a medium build, with his black hair braided backwards. Looking at his face, he almost looked like a woman dressed in a man’s clothing, despite his build.
It was just that, his words immediately made the bulky guy frown. Obviously, he did not like the impulsive words that this guy had just said. Maybe, they might have found another way out of this situation, instead of fighting head-on.
Even though he himself was confident in his own abilities, he had no information about the two ladies. And only one of them had appeared in front of them, and the other one was still behind the wall.
What she was doing, what she was planning, what she could do, all of that, they did not know. Therefore, it was way better for them to be cautious.
But now, this idiot had decided to provoke conflict immediately, without even understanding their enemies. If he could, he really wanted to slap this guy to death.
While he was irritated, Kate on the other hand was immediately infuriated. Of course, the gaze that she was receiving from that guy who had just spoken, and his words, they had a clear implication.
She never liked the people that looked at her like this. Additionally, from how naturally he was speaking, maybe he had already done this countless times. How many innocent lives had he ruined?
As she thought about this, the anger within her heart immediately intensified. And at this moment, she did not bother to say anything, as she moved to attack.
Using her right foot to push off against the ground, she launched herself at a high speed, towards the guy who had just spoken.
Her actions left the group completely dumbfounded. Nobody had expected that Kate would be triggered with just a few words.
Even the guy who had just spoken, when he realized that Kate was attacking him, he panicked. He did not even have a chance to react before Kate was in front of him.
At that moment, a sense of regret immediately surged in his heart. He could feel death approaching, as Kate’s punch approached his face.
