Chapter 451: Changes
When he decided to give Kate the evolution serum, Michael had already made several preparations. His intentions were clear, he wanted her to obtain more abilities.
While the rapid adaptation ability was incredible, it needed time. By the time that she grew to the full potential of the ability, who knows what could have happened in between.
The best way of ensuring her safety was by making her strong. After all, he could not always be around her. Additionally, while most of the time, she was usually with Lina, who was supposed to ensure her safety, nobody could tell what would happen.
If the attack was not detected on time by Lina, Kate might end up getting hurt before Lina could do anything. Therefore, to avoid something like that from happening, Michael decided to increase Kate’s strength.
Only if she was strong enough to be able to protect herself, would he be relieved. That was especially considering that he could not always be around her. She needed to have her own personal time, and Michael could not always hang around her.
He had already made preparations in advance. The moment that she improved in the training chamber, Michael received a notification, through Onyx who was monitoring her training progress.

As for why he decided to give her the evolution serum after she had gone above the human limits, Michael had his own considerations. He after all could not accurately determine if she had really reached the level that she could handle the evolution serum.
Additionally, it was not as if the evolution serum was supposed to improve her physical strength. Instead, it was mainly to break some of the genetic limitations on her that could not be broken through the rapid adaptation ability.
The moment that Michael got to the training chamber, he found that Kate was busy training. But the moment that she noticed him, she immediately stopped.

The evolution serum, was the same as the mutation serums. Of course, the mutation serums that Michael could get from the system store was different from those produced by the alliance.
The serums that were produced by the alliance needed to be injected into the body. But for those that were purchased from the system store, they could be taken orally.
Therefore, Kate drunk the evolution serum without asking Michael a question about what it was. He had already told her in advance that he would give her a gift.
Despite not knowing what she was drinking, her trust in Michael made her drink it without any hesitation.
Several seconds after she took the evolution serum, she felt the changes. But of course, the way that she experienced the changes, was different from the changes that Michael had experienced when he first took the evolution serum.
Kate had already exceeded the limits of humans in several areas. Therefore, the improvement that she received was mostly at the cellular level, making them advanced. But of course, the rapid ability had already began enhancing her cells.
After all, with all the improvement that she was getting after all the training that she was undergoing, her body was bound to adapt. This involved the cells in her body, which were also improving, due to some of the improvements in things like metabolism.
Kate only felt that the her body temperature had drastically increased. But apart from that, she did not notice anything else that was out of place. As for sweating, considering that she was training not long ago, she considered it not part of the change but was occurring to her.
After everything settled down, Kate finally began noticing something. Even though he could not accurately pinpoint what the change was, she just felt that she had improved.
The improvement itself could not be accurately been pointed to a certain change, as she could not feel an increase in her strength. But even then, she had realized the change.
Michael informed her about the evolution serum, and the purpose that it served. He also informed her about the fact that after she had taken the evolution serum, she could finally take another mutation serum.
This was something that left her shocked. At the same time, she finally understood the reason why Michael seemed to have so many abilities. It turned out that he had also taken the evolution serum.
Still, she was quite curious. Just how many abilities did Michael posses at the moment? Though, despite the curiosity that she had, she did not ask. She believed, if Michael wanted her to know, he would tell her.
Kate decided to go with the space manipulation ability, when Michael asked her about the ability that she would like to have.
And the fact that Michael could provide her with the serum that matched the ability that she wanted, left her even much more impressed.
But at the same time, she felt the pressure. It was only at this point that she suddenly realized just what kind of gap existed between the two of them.
At the same time, she thought, maybe, what she had seen back then when she came to see Michael training in the training chamber, was him holding back.
If he demonstrated his full strength, maybe, with her current abilities, she would not be able to react before she died.
Despite realizing the gap between them, Kate did not give up. Instead, she decided, she would train as much as possible, so that she could get stronger.
Even if she could not catch up to him, at least, she could reduce the gap, or prevent it from growing wider.

The episode about the evolution serum was just a by the way to the grand changes that were occurring in the world.
Slowly, the frequency at which the mutation serums were being produced by the alliance had increased. This was mainly because Michael gave them a little help, by giving them some of the advanced equipment through Sky Technologies.
With that, the rate at which people became mutants increased. Therefore, the ratio of ordinary humans to mutants in the globe continuously varied, with the advantage shifting towards the mutants.
In just 3 months, almost half of the population in the world had already become mutants. Of course, this was under the consideration made before, based on those that did not have criminal records.
The good thing about the mutation serums was the fact that they did not care much about the age. No matter how old the person was, they could take the mutation serum, and gain an ability.
Additionally, ever since Michael gave the alliance several serum samples, there was no longer any risk of death.
Additionally, something that most people noticed was the fact that after taking the mutation serum, it seemed it could increase the lifespan of a person.
This was noticed in old people, who were just about to reach the end of their lifespans. After taking the mutation serums, they somehow looked younger than before.
As for if it was true or not, that was something that needed time to be tested out.
For several months, as the world continued to change, the mentality of the people also shifted. Of course, from time to time, some people would try to act out, only for them to be dealt with.
But it was clear, after many people became mutants, this world would no longer be the way it was before. Even though the business sector had not completely died down, probably, a lot of changes would need to take place.
