Chapter 21: Adventurer’s Card.
No one questioned that he knew they were beautiful, but he never thought about why he was late because it had only been a few minutes since they all left.
Sara looked around them once; the sun had already begun to set, its golden rays painting the sky bright. Even the ground was stretched by beautiful colors, which looked marvelous enough to make it difficult to take your eyes off.
Soon, all of them started walking towards the adventurers’ guild because whenever someone finished a dungeon, they certainly had to report it to the guild.
Ethan’s gaze swept across the area once again as a thought appeared inside his mind. ’I noticed that the dungeon didn’t have a vast area and was just a den where the wolves lived. Why’s that so?’
He looked at Sara, who was walking right beside him. He didn’t waste any time and asked right away. "Sara, why did this dungeon not have a vast area? Because if there are dire wolves, they definitely would be living around a place where they could hunt and feed."
Sara spared him a single look before replying. "Dungeons below Tier A are nothing more than places we enter, clear, and leave. It’s only at Tier A and above that they begin to resemble entire worlds."
Ethan blinked quite a few times, trying to fathom the sudden information he had received. Her words triggered memories of his previous life. ’Ah!! Yeah, it was like this only even in the novel. The main character clearly spent tons of years to reach that level,’ he said inwardly.
But then another feeling brushed past him; his shoulders slumped slightly as he muttered to himself. "God knows what he’s doing... but to be honest, I don’t want to cross paths with him."
His words weren’t loud but enough to ring inside Sara’s ears. She didn’t waste time and right away asked, "What are you mumbling about?"
A small laugh left Ethan’s mouth as he said, "I was just fantasizing about spending time with my wives after this tiresome day."
His words were enough to draw attention from the rest of the group. Max immediately shot both his hands up in the air, a feeling of devastation falling over him. "You’re married!? You don’t even look a year older than twenty, and you’re married!?" he exclaimed.
"Here I am, about to turn thirty... and still single." His jaw slowly fell as the words escaped him. His shoulders slumped, the confidence draining from his posture. For a brief moment, he simply stared into the distance, unable to hide the quiet sadness settling in his eyes.
Sylv didn’t seem to care much about Ethan’s wives, but still, out of curiosity, she asked, "Are your wives beautiful?"
Her words caught Ethan off guard because Ethan knew they were beautiful, but he never thought that he would have to say something regarding this topic from the mouth of ’Ethan Pendragon.’
He slowly cleared his throat once before replying. "Yes, they’re beautiful. Probably the best-looking women in the entire world."
The time he spent with them both flickered past him, which made his cheeks turn red, his face flustered, and even the edges of his ears bright.
Sylv instantly noticed the sudden change in his demeanor. She covered her mouth and leaned next to Ethan. An innocent smile appeared on her face before she continued. "Hmm? The temperature increased all of a sudden, didn’t it?"
Ethan looked at her for a sliver of a second before shifting his attention to the clouds because he had started to find them quite interesting today.
He was trying to divert the topic, and luckily enough for him, Sara nudged Sylv with her elbow. "Don’t say all that to him, Sylv."
"You’re poking your nose into someone else’s personal affairs and marriage on top of that."
Sylv took a good look at Sara before she covered her mouth. "What did I do?! I didn’t even say anything bad!!" she exclaimed.
Her suddenly flustered voice caused even Micah to pass a small chuckle. Instantly, he covered his mouth; a bead of sweat appeared on his temple as he bowed his head slightly. "I-I’m sorry, Sylv!!"
"..." She became completely baffled by that, although she didn’t try to press the conversation any further.
Ethan and the group continued walking until they finally had the Adventurers’ Guild in their sight. Groups of squads were standing around the area; some were leaving for dungeons, and some had just arrived with ragged, tired looks.
The shops around the corners were covered by bunches of adventurers who were trying to purchase equipment but also waiting patiently for their turn.
Ethan and the group didn’t care much about their surroundings, simply making their way inside. They covered the distance between them and the receptionist’s table.
All of them except Ethan pulled their adventurer cards and kept them over the table. Ethan’s instincts kicked in as he kept his own card next to the others.
"We have to update the dungeon attempt count and record the materials obtained from there," she said, arms remaining crossed.
The woman sitting at the table glanced at her and then at the rest of the group. Without saying a word, she picked up their adventurer cards and pulled out a pen that shimmered with bright green mana. Thin strands of mana escaped from its nib, drifting through the air as she prepared to write.
"Which dungeon did you all clear?"
"C-Tier, a dire wolf’s den," Sara replied right away.
She gave a firm nod before scribbling the entry [Dungeons Attempted] in their cards. When she scribbled it, the letters that were written there got erased as if they never existed in the first place. Then she gently wrote the updated number on everyone’s card. Without wasting any time, she did the same to the [Dungeons Cleared] section.
Ethan’s gaze was fixed on the cards of the other members, but the one thing that left Ethan completely shocked was the number of dungeon attempts they had made and successfully cleared throughout their careers.
A/N: Readers, the book just got contracted... can we reach the goal of 5 GTs before this week ends? I will give an extra Chapter if we do.
