Chapter 272: He Gives Her His Place
In this family, anyone who dared to speak to Anna Linden like that was bound for a bad end!
Even though Anne Sutton was the one Ethan Linden had brought back, she was being far too audacious!
Lying in bed, Nathan Fawcett thought about Anne Sutton making him a meal and felt a sweet sense of delight. ’Being sick is actually great!’
’I’ve been sick my whole life, so how am I only just now discovering what a wonderful thing it is?’
While he was still lost in his daydream, Anne Sutton pushed the door open and walked in.
She was furious, and she even kicked the chair in front of his bed.
Seeing her like this, Nathan Fawcett asked, "What’s wrong?"
"I’m leaving!" Anne Sutton declared. "Your mother threw all my things out. I’m moving out."
Looking at her, Nathan Fawcett sat up. "What’s going on?"
’Weren’t things fine just a moment ago?’
"She’s just getting back at me," Anne Sutton said. "I talked back to her at the door a minute ago, and she threw my things out. She even said something about needing to free up the guest room for guests! Your house is huge. Are you really short that one room?"
Nathan Fawcett said, "I’ll go ask her!"
"Sir." Before Nathan Fawcett could get out of bed, Chloe Chase had already walked over.
Seeing her, Nathan Fawcett asked, "Chloe, what’s the situation with my mother?"
’They were the ones who told me to bring her back in the first place!’
’Now that Anne Sutton is back, they want to kick her out again?’
Chloe Chase glanced at Anne Sutton, then said to Nathan Fawcett, "Ms. Linden doesn’t want to drive Ms. Sutton away. She just said... that Ms. Sutton should move into your room, which would conveniently free up a room."
Nathan Fawcett: "..."
He looked at Chloe Chase and said, "Things were fine, so why is my mother doing this? Anne Sutton and I are fine living separately right now."
’Though he also wanted to live with Anne Sutton.’
’But...’
’Anne Sutton wasn’t willing!’
’And he had promised her before bringing her back!’
’He couldn’t go back on his word now.’
’So he could only let Anne Sutton stay in the guest room.’
Chloe Chase said, "Everyone knows about your relationship with Ms. Sutton now. If you two live separately, it won’t look good!"
Anne Sutton retorted, "What relationship? I have no relationship with him! Even if we did, that was in the past!"
’Now, the two of them had absolutely no relationship whatsoever.’
Chloe said, "But Ms. Sutton, since you’ve moved in here, in everyone’s eyes, you and Mr. Fawcett are a couple! Isn’t it only right that you live together?"
"Who says it’s only right?" Her words infuriated Anne Sutton. "I don’t want to live with him! You people were the ones who didn’t want me with him before, and now you’re forcing me to be with him! What do you take me for?"
Chloe Chase looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "In any case, Ms. Linden means well. I hope you can understand, Sir."
Nathan Fawcett: "..."
Before he could finish, Chloe Chase had already walked out.
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton, who was standing to the side with her cheeks puffed out in anger. "Don’t be mad anymore! That guest room was small anyway. From now on, you can just stay in my room."
Hearing his words, Anne Sutton’s brow furrowed. "You seem pretty happy about this, don’t you?"
"What’s there to be happy about?" Nathan Fawcett hurriedly concealed the joy in his heart. "My mom has always been eccentric; there’s nothing I can do. You know I’ve always been afraid of her. Since she’s making you move in, you can have the room. I’ll make way for you."
"Make way for me?" Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Where exactly would you go?"
’This was his room!’
’Where else could he move to?’
Anne Sutton didn’t understand.
Nathan Fawcett said, "I can sleep on the sofa! If you don’t think that’s okay, I can also sleep in the study. Don’t worry! Since I made you a promise, I won’t make things difficult for you. It’s just that right now... you have to think about Ian! If you leave, you’ll feel better, but what about Ian? What if you want to come see him in the future and my mother doesn’t agree and just causes trouble? You know she’s capable of that."
In her years as a doctor, Anna Linden had built up an excellent network.
There were few people of status and standing who wouldn’t show her respect!
After all, health is a top priority for everyone!
And Anna Linden happened to hold powerful medical resources in her hands.
Many doctors were impossible for others to get an appointment with, but because of her good relationships, getting access was a simple matter of a single word from her.
Just like before, when Chairman Fawcett had spent so much effort but failed to find a cure for Nathan Fawcett’s illness.
Anna Linden could!
Nathan Fawcett coaxed Anne Sutton, "Alright, calm down."
After speaking, he called for a maid to bring Anne Sutton’s things over.
Anne Sutton sat on the edge of the bed, thoroughly dejected.
Seeing her fuming, Nathan Fawcett took her hand and said, "Don’t be angry! Just do it for Ian’s sake! Do our son this favor. You can’t bear to leave him, right?"
Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "Your mother is really looking out for you, isn’t she? Even making me take care of you."
Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett replied, "Who knows what she’s planning? You said when you came back that she had a few words for you. What did she say?"
"..." Anne Sutton was still angry and couldn’t be bothered to tell him. "Nothing."
’It was just because she exchanged a few words with Caleb Summers, and Anna Linden actually thought she had something going on with him.’
’That would have been one thing!’
’But now she was even trying to make her live with Nathan Fawcett!’
’Was it all just to tie her to Nathan Fawcett’s side?’
’No matter how bad Nathan’s condition was, he could still find a woman if he wanted to, right?’
’Did his mother really have to act as if he’d never find another woman again?’
Nathan Fawcett leaned against the headboard. Seeing that Anne Sutton had fallen silent, he felt a little relieved.
He had been genuinely worried that after going to all the trouble of bringing Anne Sutton back, she would be driven away by anger again.
Now, seeing Anne Sutton staring at him, lost in thought, Nathan Fawcett asked curiously, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Anne Sutton said, "I’m just curious. Can you really not touch other women?"
Nathan Fawcett nodded. "That’s right!"
"No one but me?" Anne Sutton had never tested it, so she wasn’t sure.
She was still a bit suspicious about the whole thing.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Why are you asking this? What are you trying to say?"
Anne Sutton said, "Your mom is so afraid of me being with someone else right now, and she wants me to live with you. It’s obvious she’s trying to create opportunities for you."
"..." Nathan Fawcett said, "Maybe so."
"Since you can be with me, you can surely be with someone else. I don’t believe you can’t touch anyone but me."
"How would I know? What, you don’t expect me to go and test it out on them one by one, do you?" He looked at her and said, "What do you take me for?"
"Aren’t I just thinking of you? Once you’re cured of this weird problem, you won’t need me anymore!"
"..." Nathan Fawcett looked at her and promised solemnly, "Even if I am cured, I won’t fall for anyone else. You can rest assured."
"I don’t believe the words of a man! Right now, you just don’t have a choice."
