Chapter 70: Heading to the Arctic

Boom!

With a sonic boom, Orion Cross shot into the sky and vanished from everyone’s sight.

Pepper stared at the sky, dumbfounded. It took her a full minute to come back to her senses. "So... is he a Kryptonian? Are comic book stories actually based on real events?"

"I don’t know. Maybe." Coulson shrugged, indicating that he knew nothing.

What gave Coulson a headache now was that Orion Cross had not thought about avoiding ordinary people when he left. Even though there were not many people around, quite a few had still seen the scene. A number of them had already taken out their phones and cameras to start snapping pictures. Of course, Orion Cross had left too quickly for them to capture him, so all they could do was furiously take pictures of Coulson and the others.

"I’ll leave it to you."

Coulson looked at the few subordinates he had just recruited and gave them a signal with his eyes.

"Hello. We are agents of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. The content you just photographed involves national secrets. Please hand it over immediately so we can destroy it. Otherwise, you will face prosecution and detention!"

After receiving the order, the agents immediately began offering the onlookers some warm and friendly greetings.

"Hey, Bald Agent, can we borrow the car? We’re heading home."

Pietro walked over beside Coulson, who was talking with Pepper, and reached out his hand.

"Oh, sure."

Coulson subconsciously took out the car key and handed it to Pietro. But the next second, he realized something was wrong.

"Wait, are you even sixteen? No, you’re only..."

Coulson hurried forward, trying to snatch the key back. He had almost forgotten that this kid, who had once screwed him over so badly that Nick Fury sent him back for retraining, was actually only around ten years old in essence.

But how could Coulson’s speed compare to Pietro’s? By the time he took his first step, Pietro had already slipped into the car and inserted the key.

"Everyone seated? Starting now!"

Pietro excitedly stepped on the accelerator. This was his first time driving.

"Activating autopilot mode. Destination: 3150, Queens."

Watching his car speed away in a cloud of dust, Coulson could only helplessly take out his agent phone and remotely switch the car into autopilot mode to avoid any accidents.

Inside the car.

"Why can’t I control it anymore? Is this car broken?"

Pietro tapped the steering wheel twice and asked in confusion.

"That agent activated autopilot to stop you from getting us killed and running over pedestrians," Skye said, rolling her eyes. "And don’t look at me either. I’m not helping you."

What a joke. She was in the car too right now, and unlike those siblings, she did not have superpowers. If she helped Pietro hack into the car’s onboard system and they got into an accident, would she not be the only one who died?

On the other side, the agents barely managed to recover and destroy most of the photos and videos taken by the passersby, but a few fish still slipped through the net and ran off.

"Hm?"

Pepper froze when she heard a sound. She took out her phone and looked at it. "It’s a call from Tony..."

"Hello? Tony?" Pepper answered the call.

"It’s me."

Tony’s helpless voice came from the other end. "Help your boss call in a plane. I can’t get back."

Pepper froze, then hurriedly asked, "Where are you right now? Are you in danger? Why is it so noisy around you?"

"I’m fine, and I’m safe. As for the noise around me..."

Tony helplessly glanced at the Middle Eastern civilians surrounding him and cheering. "They’re just ordinary people who barely managed to survive."

"Hello, Mr. Stark. This is Agent Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division."

Coulson borrowed the phone from Pepper.

"Oh, Strategic Homeland... Sorry, are you a stand-up comedian?"

"Mr. Stark, we can immediately dispatch a plane to bring you back. Please remain where you are and do not turn off your phone’s location."

Coulson ignored Tony’s teasing and spoke directly.

"No problem, Agent Coleslaw."

"My name is Coulson, not Coleslaw."

Coulson had long known that Tony had a nasty personality, but he had not expected him to be this troublesome. "Mr. Stark, I’d like to know whether Mr. Orion Cross is near you?"

"He’s not."

"Mr. Stark, are you sure? Mr. Orion Cross left our location not long ago and said he was going to you."

Coulson frowned as he spoke.

"That’s right. He also left my location not long ago and took my armor with him. Why do you think I need your plane?"

Tony laughed on the other end.

"Armor?"

Coulson froze, then thought of the blurry image of the unidentified flying object sent to him by the Air Force. It did indeed look like a humanoid suit of armor.

"Mr. Stark, are you saying Orion stole your armor? Why?"

Coulson was a little confused. With Orion Cross’s strength, it did not seem like he needed that kind of flying armor to assist him.

"He said it was to stop my uncle from dying too early. To be honest, I don’t really know what he’s trying to do either."

As Tony explained, he still had to deal with the "fans" around him, and his tone gradually became impatient. "Agent Coleslaw, when will your plane arrive?"

"Maybe in ten minutes?"

Above the Arctic, a streak of starlight fell from the sky.

The glacier on the ground shook violently and cracked apart at terrifying speed. In the nearby Arctic research station, the personnel were all terrified, thinking some kind of geological change had occurred.

Inside a pit of ice and snow, Orion Cross tossed the Iron Man suit he had been carrying over his shoulder onto the ground.

"Whew. Jarvis, open the door."

Orion Cross crouched down and knocked on the arc reactor on the front of the armor.

Click.

The armor plating at the front of the Iron Man suit retracted to both sides, revealing the person inside: Obadiah.

Ten minutes earlier, Orion Cross had arrived in the Middle East just in time to see Tony slaughtering his way through the terrorists’ headquarters. Meanwhile, Obadiah had only just found the Mark I and had not yet had time to modify it, so he had no way of confronting Tony head-on. After being discovered, his knee was directly shot through by a bullet.

However, since it was not a true fight to the death, Tony could not bring himself to kill Obadiah right away. And at that moment, Orion Cross’s mission triggered.
