*Ding-Dong* ell chimed*

"Huhh~ ... who can it be so early? Honey~ .... can you get the door?" Sandra, who was busy preparing breakfast, called out to William.

Still in the middle of shaving, William quickly walked out of the bedroom and replied, "It must be Myra and Yelena." Without further ado, he headed straight to the door. When he saw who it was, a flicker of confusion flashed across his face. "Dion?? What are you doing here at this early hour?"

Before he could answer, a sudden noise from upstairs interrupted them: "SIS~ .... OPEN THE DOOR."

William looked back, meeting Sandra’s gaze, who was equally perplexed by the commotion. The same thought erupted in her mind: ’Sis? Is Myra at home already? When did she come?"

The next second, Wendy’s shrill voice erupted again, "SISSSSSS~~~~~ ...."

Without waiting any longer, Dion dashed, sprinting through the living room and up the stairs. William and Sandra followed him, anxious.

When Dion reached the top, Wendy and Myra were standing outside Myra’s room. Wendy seemed to be on a call, Brave’s voice coming from the other end. He looked at Myra, who was transfixed on a spot, clearly in shock. Her face was tear-stricken; she looked devastated.

’She must have heard it from Brave already,’ Drey remarked, sighing. His heart ached at the sight of Myra in such a wretched state.

Wendy’s high-pitched voice buzzed once more, "WHATTTTTTTT~~~~~~???? PROF. STEPHENS~~~~ ...." Her mouth agape.

Myra met Dion’s eyes and asked, her voice shaking, "Is~ ... is what Brave said, is it tr~ true?

Dion pursed his lips as he felt his throat tighten. Without answering, he walked towards her and pulled her into his embrace. Myra couldn’t hold it any longer. She held his shirt tightly in her grip and started crying. He felt her trembling body under his touch and tried to subdue her feelings with his powers. Yet no matter what he did, he wasn’t able to control or suppress her torn feelings.

Around the same time, the Miracle couple arrived. They stared at the scene and were taken aback.

Wendy’s eyes were wide, ready to pop out of her sockets. Myra was crying like the sky above had fallen, while Dion held her in a hug.

Sandra spoke first, "Wh~ .... what in the earth is going on? Wendy~ ... Myra~ .... Dion?"

"Mom~ .... Prof. Stephens~ ...." Wendy uttered, her tone incredibly heavy and shaky.

"Don’t just stop midway. Out with it? What has happened? Why is your sister crying like that?" William urged her to speak. His voice was steady, but there was an underlying tension in it.

"Prof. Stephens died last night," Wendy delivered the news.

Sandra covered her mouth with both her hands as a sharp gasp escaped. Her eyes rimmed red. William was thunderstruck by the news; he asked, "What did you just say? Fabian is no more? How can that happen? He was fine when he visited last time."

"Dad, I~ ... I don’t know. Mr. Brave called and told us," Wendy said, her body numb.

William immediately turned toward Dion, questioning, "Fabian, that kid, how can he~ .... how did it happen?"

Dion pulled away from the hug but kept a firm hold on Myra’s hand as he answered, "Yesterday afternoon, there was a banquet at the Larson mansion. One of the guests tried to attack Chairman Larson, but Fabian came in between and took the blow for him. While getting treated, he went into cardiac arrest and~ ...." He left his words unsaid.

Hearing that, Myra’s mind spiralled. Fabian’s face, that faint, helpless smile, flashed before her eyes. The inscriptions she saw on the wall, the way he confessed to her in her dream, his final goodbye- those words echoed inside her head. Recalling all of that, her body shuddered; her legs went weak as she stumbled backwards. Thankfully, Dion was holding her and steadied her in time. His hand was on her waist now.

Sandra, Willian and Wendy rushed towards her. "MYRA~ ...."

Myra muttered under her breath, "So, it wasn’t just a dream. It was all real. He came to say his final goodbye. Fabian~ .... he really is gone." Fresh tears spilt out of her eyes.

Others couldn’t hear her, but Dion heard every syllable clearly; a knot formed in his throat.

After a moment, he let out a heavy sigh and spoke again, "His funeral will be held at ten at the Larson estate."

"In one hour?" William said, and Dion nodded. "Yes."

"Then what are we waiting for~ ... let’s go," Sandra finally found her voice.

"Ahh~ ... Mrs. Miracle, Mr. Miracle~ .... actually~ ...." Dion hesitated but said it anyway. "Fabian’s funeral is going to be held privately. So~ .... only a few people are allowed in it. I came here to pick up Myra."

William and Sandra’s brows knitted simultaneously, but they both nodded in understanding. But Wendy insisted, "I am coming with you two."

"Wendy~ .... I understand your sentiment. But Mr. Larson has only permitted Myra to be present there. I am sorry, but you cannot come with us," Dion said in a remorseful tone.

Wendy stepped forward, but Sandra grabbed her hand. "Alright, don’t waste any more time. Take Myra with you. Wendy, you stay behind."

Myra, who was still in a daze, somehow washed her face and changed her clothes. Standing in front of the mirror, she could see her eyes welling up again. Then her gaze shifted towards a glass spray vial tucked in a corner on her vanity.

She picked it up. It was the perfume Fabian had gifted her. Once, Yelena had said she loved the fragrance. So, Myra bought a bottle and shifted half of it into the vial. But she had forgotten all about it.

Caressing the bottle, she applied it to her wrist and nape, then walked out of the room.

Dion immediately sensed the change in her scent but refrained from commenting. Extending his hand, he said, "Let’s go."

Myra didn’t take his hand this time and walked ahead.

Once they were settled in the car, Dion handed her a mask. "You need to wear this."

Myra took it without question.

Dion then said, his tone warning, "No matter what, don’t take the mask off."

Myra felt the seriousness in his tone and hummed, "I promise." Dion sighed in relief as the car engine ignited.
