Chapter 608: Early Morning Call
(Author’s POV)
"Why did I see Fabian in my dream? And what the hell was that?" Clutching both sides of her temples, Myra muttered to herself. The vivid image of Fabian’s body disappearing right before her very eyes, like nothing but dust, troubled her deeply. She paced frantically in her room, her throat parched.
Chewing her lower lip nervously, she mumbled; her inner monologue was active: "I don’t feel right about all this. Should I call Fabian and check up on him?" ’But wouldn’t it be awkward to call at this hour? What will he think? Won’t he get the wrong idea then?’ She was thinking too much.
After mulling it over again and again, she decided to make the call. But just as she started looking for her phone, she slapped her forehead and remembered she didn’t have it. "Shit, that demonic pair, Elisa and Aamon, took it. What should I do now?" She glanced at the wall clock. It was still the early hours of the morning. Her parents and Wendy were still fast asleep in their rooms. She couldn’t simply sneak in and take their phone. If they saw her, they would definitely ask questions.
After much contemplation, she let out a heavy breath. "Once Wendy wakes up, I will make a call to Fabian right away. Yes. I will do just that. It won’t look weird that way." She looked at herself in the mirror. Her appearance was shabby, her clothes slightly tattered, and she had bags under her eyes. Then went to take a quick, hot shower.
Ten minutes later, she walked out, feeling much better.
She slumped onto her bed with a heavy thud and gazed at the ceiling without blinking. Everything that happened to her in the past twenty-four hours replayed in her mind in sequence like a movie. Aamon and Elisa kidnapping and blackmailing her, them turning out to be demons, her mates, meeting the moon goddess in her palace, the dream about Elio and her past life, Garry’s confession and dreaming about Fabian. Thinking all of it at once, a sudden chill ran down her spine. "How can my life turn out to be such a chaotic mess? *sigh* .... What am I going to do now, moon goddess?"
Her question hung heavy in the air, but nobody was there to answer it. "Ugh~ .... I don’t know anything. Let’s just leave it for now and get some shut-eye." With that, she closed her eyes and instantly fell asleep.

*Knock~ ... knock~ ... knock*
"Ughhh~ .... who’s it?" Myra mumbled in her sleep, covering her head under a pillow.
*Heavy pounding starts* *KNOCK~ .... KNOCK~ .... KNOCK*
"SIS, OPEN THE DOOR~ ..." Wendy’s voice came from the other side. She sounded urgent.
"Huhh?? Wendy?? What is she saying?" Myra’s brows knitted as she lazily opened her eyes open lazily.
Wendy kept shouting, "Sis, you need to open the door. There is an urgent call for you."
Myra jolted immediately and sat upright. She jumped out of her bed and marched straight towards the door.
When she unlatched it open, Wendy exclaimed, her voice a tad bit loud, "Sis, when did you return? Where’s sis Yelena? Did she not come with you? Where is your phone? And~ ... since when did you start locking your door?"
Myra realized she had subconsciously locked the door last night. It must have been on reflex to protect herself.
Pinching the bridge of her nose, she answered, "I came back late last night. Yelena~ .... Something happened with Mr. Yates senior, so they returned to Damona. By the way~ ... didn’t you say I had a call?"
"Ohh~ ... I almost forgot. Here~ ... Elio is on the line. He asked to talk to you." Wendy handed over her phone.
’Elio, why did he call Wendy? He must be checking up on me,’ Myra thought as she stared at the screen.
Wendy remained rooted to her place, leaning slightly towards Myra, trying to hear their conversation.

"Elio~ ... why did you call so early?" Myra asked; her voice came out hoarse.
"Myra~ ..." Elio said her name. His voice sounded unusually heavy.
Myra caught it and inquired, "What happened? Why do you sound so off? Did something happen?"
Her question was met with a long silence, making her nervous. She clutched the phone in her hand tightly and called him, "Elio~ ... speak~ .... What is going on?"
Wendy’s curious gaze turned worried.
After another five seconds pause, someone spoke from the other end, but it wasn’t Elio. "Myra, it’s me, Brave. We~ ... we need to tell you something," his voice trembled a little.
"Brave??" Hearing the seriousness in his voice, Myra’s heart raced a mile a minute.
Brave let out an exhausted breath and uttered, "Myra, Fabian, he~ ...."
When she heard Brave mentioning Fabian’s name, the tattered scene from her vision flashed before her eyes. Her grip tightened even further on the device, her voice shaking, "Fabian~ .... What about him? Is he okay? Brave, tell me?"
The desperation, the worry in her tone was unmistakable. Even Brave found it difficult to relay the news to her. But what has to be done should be done. So, he said, "Fabian has ... Fabian has passed away."
Myra’s whole body went rigid. Her eyes were as wide as saucers as tears filled her vision. Wendy’s phone slipped from her hand, and Brave continued, "His funeral will be held in an hour. Dion is on his way to get you." Getting no reply, he called her name, "Myra~ .... Myra~ .... are you there?"
Anxiety crept inside Wendy, seeing Myra’s reaction. She grabbed Myra’s arm and queried, "Sis, what is it? Sis~ .... Sis~ ....???" But Myra was in no condition to utter anything. She stood there like a statue.
Wendy quickly picked up her phone and spoke, "Mr. Everests, what did you say to my sister? Why is she~ ... why is she crying like that? What’s going on?"
Her reply wasn’t heard by not just Brave but Elio and Alaric as well, who were standing close. Their hearts panged with inexplicable discomfort. Was it because Myra was crying? Or was it because she was crying for Fabian? None of them knew the answer or maybe they did, but chose to subdue it.
