Chapter 963: She Hates Me
"She resents me."
Finn Chandler’s voice faded, "Because I’m a girl."
"She wanted to rise through a son, but I’m not one, so she made me pretend to be a boy."
As she spoke, Finn felt incredibly distressed. She looked up at Julian Ford, who was gentle towards her.
She wasn’t worthy of Julian Ford!
This feeling became very strong at that moment!
"They don’t like you, but I do."
Julian Ford noticed the sadness in Finn’s eyes. He smiled gently, like a warm breeze that blew into Finn’s heart.
Finn no longer continued to talk about Mrs. Chambers; the inferiority inside her made her fearful, and she reached out to hold Julian Ford tightly.
It was after meeting Mrs. Chambers that Finn’s heart was slowly replaced by other emotions.
It was fear!
It was worry!
It was also humility!
These emotions entwined in her heart, making Serena Sullivan and Anna Morgan say it was pre-wedding anxiety.
Indeed, she was having Julian Ford’s child, ran off to register marriage with him, without such fear in her heart. Now, as the wedding approached, she became afraid.
However, fear was useless. This emotion didn’t fade away with the arrival of the wedding, nor did it disappear with Serena and Anna’s persuasion, nor was it replaced by sweetness because of Julian Ford’s affection.
Three days before the wedding began, Finn met the Chambers Family and finally understood her fear was due to their presence and their arrival.
Prior to this, she had exposed her identity without care, feeling nothing while staying at home, yet outside there was chaos.
Finn anticipated someone from the Chambers Family to come and settle scores. She hadn’t expected Mr. Chambers to arrive first.
That evening, Finn followed Julian Ford to have dinner at The Ford Family’s house.
Mrs. Ford remained neither cold nor warm towards Finn. It wasn’t that she disliked Finn; she was simply like that with everyone.
Finn was accustomed to Mrs. Ford’s demeanor, and with the tales about Mrs. Ford’s achievements, she felt admiration.
A woman who managed the family so well and also succeeded in her career, most importantly having a perfect son.
How could Finn not envy that!
It was for this reason that she felt an affinity for Mrs. Ford, and immediately upon arrival at The Ford Family’s house, she sat with Mrs. Ford.
Mrs. Ford spoke little, but every word hit the mark. The two sat together watching TV, occasionally chatting, and neither felt awkward or uncomfortable.
They hadn’t been sitting long when Mr. Ford and Fiona Ford arrived.
A few days before, Mr. Ford was in the hospital, and everyone was worried.
It wasn’t until later, after comprehensive checks on Mr. Ford’s health, confirming it was really a blood pressure issue that caused him to faint, did The Ford Family relax.
Due to Mr. Ford, Fiona Ford couldn’t go abroad for a business trip, and Julian Ford didn’t mention it further.
Upon seeing Finn, Mr. Ford was also neither cold nor warm.
His indifference carried a hint of dislike.
Mr. Ford had always been dissatisfied with Finn. His son was so charming and capable yet chose someone with an unimpressive background; moreover, a girl who had disguised herself as a boy for years.
If it weren’t for Finn being pregnant and Mrs. Ford eager to have grandchildren, along with Mrs. Ford’s satisfaction, he would have been unwilling to consent to this marriage.
In fact, matters concerning Julian Ford weren’t his to agree upon; it’s just that he chose not to interfere.
"Time flies, it’s only a couple days until it’s the great day of Chu Chu and Julian’s wedding."
As soon as Fiona Ford arrived, she spoke with a smile, asking.
