Chapter 964
When she looked at Finn Chandler, her face was all smiles; no one could tell that deep down she actually really disliked Finn, much less imagine that this same smiling woman had once used Pearl Chambers to hurt Finn.
"By the way, Chuchu, have you decided on your bridesmaids? Do you need me to help you get that ready?"
It sounded like a simple question; as Julian Ford’s older sister, it was perfectly normal for her to show concern about the two of them and their wedding.
Only, with the wedding almost here, Fiona Ford was asking about this now.
Finn was different from other girls; she’d posed as a boy for so many years, she hardly had any female friends. As for those older and younger sisters in the Chambers Family, she hadn’t even put all the faces to names, and of the ones she did recognize, their relationships weren’t great.
This time, with her marrying Julian Ford, she really hadn’t invited anyone from the Chambers side.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to; it was that Finn knew that if they came, they would only ruin the wedding.
Fiona suddenly bringing up bridesmaids wasn’t about truly caring for Finn; she wanted to remind everyone of the mess Finn had made.
"Thank you, sis."
Knowing exactly what kind of person Fiona was, Finn immediately caught her meaning.
She didn’t get angry, nor did she brush it off; Finn answered with a smile.
"I already have my bridesmaids."
"Oh? Who are they? Chuchu, you actually have close girlfriends?"
"I was thinking, back when you were Young Master Chambers, you probably didn’t have many female friends!"
As Fiona finished, the smile on her face deepened.
"The eldest daughter of the Morgan Family is Chuchu’s friend."
Julian Ford answered for Finn.
His gaze fell lightly on Fiona. "Sis, about the project in A-nation, I’ve thought it over and over, and I still think it’s best if you’re the one to go."
As soon as the words landed, Fiona’s expression changed.
Her smile froze obviously at the corners of her mouth.
"Mm."
But she could only go along with Julian, replying, "I’ll head over after you and Chuchu’s wedding is finished."
"Only after seeing you two happy can I leave with peace of mind!"
Happy?
Finn Chandler wasn’t worthy of Julian Ford at all—what happiness could there be!
"Enough."
The Eldest Master Ford said unhappily, "A-nation is so far away, and my health isn’t great. I want Fiona to stay here and look after me."
"If she goes that far, how is she supposed to take care of me?"
"Isn’t your health perfectly fine?"
Mrs. Ford took over blandly, cutting him off so thoroughly that the Eldest Master Ford didn’t know how to answer.
There was actually nothing wrong with his health at all; it was all for Fiona’s sake.
Fiona didn’t want to go to A-nation. He’d butted heads directly with Julian and Mrs. Ford, but they wouldn’t change their minds, so that night he’d deliberately skipped dinner to trigger low blood pressure and made himself faint.
Who knew whether Mrs. Ford had noticed; as she said this, the Eldest Master Ford was feeling extremely guilty inside.
The Ford family living room fell quiet. Only five people were sitting there, yet Finn could smell the thick scent of gunpowder in the air.
"Madam, Sir!"
The maid came in from outside, respectfully addressing Mrs. Ford, "There’s a Mr. Chambers outside!"
"He says he’s Miss Chambers’ father!"
Father!
Finn froze at once when she heard that.
Mr. Chambers, Finn’s biological father—the dad she barely saw once throughout the whole year; no, in all these years, she hadn’t seen him many times at all.
Her impression of Mr. Chambers was extremely faint, and likewise, Mr. Chambers had barely spoken to her.
What was he doing here!
And coming straight to the Ford household, no less!
All this on the eve of her wedding to Julian Ford—Finn’s heart was seized by a sudden, inexplicable anxiety.
