Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure

Chapter 905: You Are the Closest Person to Me

Serena Sullivan walked out of the police station; the sunlight outside was glaring, causing her to take a while to regain her senses.

"Serena!"

The voice of Claire Sullivan came from behind; she watched Claire walk uncomfortably in front of her.

"I never thought it would be related to him?"

The more you understand a person, the more terrifying they seem.

The feelings Claire had for Felix Lockwood in the past were completely worn away upon learning the truth.

"I was just randomly guessing."

Serena replied with a smile. Without evidence, she casually speculated, testing which was true and which was false.

Guessing wrong didn’t matter.

Guessing right was even better!

"Perhaps your incident twenty years ago had nothing to do with Felix, and it really was Wendy Monroe’s doing."

Serena comforted Claire as she walked towards the parking lot across the street.

Whether or not Felix was involved wasn’t that important.

Claire already didn’t like him, and because of Wendy, she saw through his true nature.

Learning more was only making her see his true face more clearly, realizing past foolishness.

"No matter who did it, I don’t want to deal with them anymore."

Claire massaged her aching temples as she walked; she was truly disappointed with Felix.

Unlike Wendy Monroe, Felix was the favorite disciple of Mr. Sullivan; they grew up together, and she always treated him like a brother since she was young.

This sudden discovery that a man she almost considered a sibling had another face hidden, completely different from the one she usually saw, was just terrifying!

It was even scarier than Joel Quinn before!

"Ah!"

Without realizing it, thinking about past events, Claire lowered her head, her gaze landing on Serena’s seemingly normal legs, then recalled Serena’s four years in a wheelchair, and her heart ached unintentionally.

"Serena, do you still hate me?"

She stepped forward, holding Serena’s hands.

Serena was taken aback and looked up at the gaze fixed on her by Claire.

"I treated you that way because of Joel and Zoe Quinn."

If it wasn’t for believing Joel and Zoe, she wouldn’t have expelled Serena at night from The Sullivan Residence, nor would she have caused the car accident.

Serena wouldn’t have spent such a long time in a wheelchair, nearly losing her life.

"I still resent it."

Serena admitted, seeing the dimming of Claire’s expression.

How could I not resent it!

"But, Mom, without you, there wouldn’t be the me of today."

Serena always remembered how, many years ago, Claire stayed by her side.

"In fact, as time passed, I’ve forgotten a lot of past things."

"Yet, there are several things I remember deeply."

"When I was little, I fell ill with a high fever; it was you who held me and drove to the hospital, and when I woke up, you were by my side."

"Mom, I can’t forget these things and can’t bring myself to hate you to the point of disowning you."

As Serena spoke, Claire’s eyes reddened.

It was because of caring for Serena and managing The Sullivan Corporation being too exhausting that she sought a refuge.

The appearance of Joel was perfect timing, making her eager to transfer her burdens onto him.

It was also her failure to see people clearly, not believing Serena’s words, causing Serena to suffer so much.

"Mom, don’t ask me about resentment again; just take care of yourself."

What’s the point of bringing up so many past things!

Compared to The Sterling Family and Simon Sterling, Serena’s feelings for Claire are deeper.

After losing the use of her legs, she resented Claire for not believing her, resented Claire for protecting Zoe and Joel, but more importantly, she wanted to reclaim this mother.
