Chapter 90: System’s Crash Out
The next day, Klaus halted his bike at the entrance of Saitama Performance Center, and stepped down before walking in.
His steps took him to the training room where he and Trina used to work out, and there he found her sitting in a chair holding onto a sheet in her hand.
She wore a skin-tight white top which contrasted with her sun-kissed skin; dark pants covered her toned legs, and her hair was tied into a small ponytail. Unlike ever before, she had dressed herself quite well.
Until today, he had only seen her in gym attire.
But today she even wore makeup.
He walked over to her with a smile and looked at the sheet that she was holding.
The sheet was the autograph that he wanted, but he didn’t ask for it right away. Instead, he shifted in the chair beside her and mumbled, "What do you want to ask?"
Trina, who had been deep in her thoughts, finally noticed his presence and smiled at him.
"You are here," she said.
"Of course I am," he said as if that was obvious.
Then she lowered her gaze to the sheet in her hand and said, "She told me that she was waiting for you to call her."
He furrowed his brows and grumbled, "Why would I call her?"
She glanced at his face for a moment before she asked, "You don’t want to?"
He leaned back in his chair before he looked away, crossed his arms across his chest, and answered, "I don’t."
She frowned. "Why did you ask for her autograph then?"
His expression turned sour, and he mumbled darkly, "Did she tell you to find that out?"
Confusion filled her face, and she muttered, "What do you mean?"
He turned his head to her, their eyes met, and he said flatly, "Are you here to spy on me for her?"
"Spy?" Her frown deepened. "What are you talking about?"
"Hmm..." his expression softened, and he smiled softly. "Seems like you are not."
"Can you tell me what you mean by me being a spy for Sarin?" She asked seriously.
His gaze softened, and he said with a mischievous smile, "If you ask like that, I would have no choice but to tell you. Doesn’t that seem unfair?"
"Hmph," she exhaled and said, "You two dragging me into this is what is truly unfair. I didn’t even know that you two used to be a couple until yesterday."
He chuckled at her exasperated tone.
"I didn’t mean to drag you into this. I didn’t even know you knew Trina before that call two weeks ago."
"You should have at least told me that you two were that close," Trina sighed and shook her head. "I was so excited to enjoy myself with you two, but I ended up staying beside Sarin the whole time."
"I am sorry," he said genuinely.
"You don’t have to," she mumbled after smiling at him.
Then she moved the sheet to him and mumbled, "Here."
He took the sheet and looked at it.
It had Sarin’s image from one of her concerts with her signature across it.
Seeing the audience in the image, he could guess how popular Sarin had become, and a thought appeared in his mind, ’There must be someone other than me whom she likes.’
Perhaps after enough time had passed, she would move on.
He didn’t want her to stay in the past much like everyone else. He wanted her to be happy, but he couldn’t be the one doing so.
The dreams that he had chosen had prices that he couldn’t ignore, and this was one of them. At least that was what Klaus believed.
As he stared at the autograph in deep thought, Trina watched him, and a sadness flickered in her eyes for a moment before her hands slowly rose and began to move toward him as though to embrace him.
However, before that could happen, she bit her lower lip and shook her head.
’I cannot do this... Sarin loves him; I cannot take him away from her.’
For some reason, Trina believed that she could be with him if she wanted, which wasn’t entirely wrong considering she valued dreams as much as Klaus.
And the main reason for him to let go of Sarin was her way of showing love.
Instead of helping him rise, she kept him low so he would never leave her. Trina, on the other hand, didn’t care about such things; her nature was to help others grow, and that’s what Klaus wanted.
She smiled bitterly and began to lower her hands, but before they could fall completely, she halted them and held his right hand.
He immediately came out of his thoughts and looked at her hand.
’What the...’ he mumbled inwardly, confused by the sudden action.
But before he could pull his hand away, a blue screen appeared before him.
[Host, can you even call yourself a man? Two women are trying to get with you, but you keep whining about dreams and ambition! If you continue like this, you would die maidenless, and the grand task would never be completed.]
’What are you tal—’
[Do you think being a bit strong makes you so special that you can decide how one should live their life?]
[Do you think by throwing away your own emotions you can understand humans?]
[No offense, but you sound like someone who only knows about ruling from some edgy show.]
’...’ Klaus fell silent. In a way, the system wasn’t wrong about what it had just said.
’What do you want me to do then?’
[I do not want you to do anything. I can only suggest.]
’What do you suggest then?’
[Matters of heart should belong to heart. Matters of head should belong to head. Do not mix the two.]
’Love can become weakness, you know?’
[Host, I know it more than you. But love can also be strength. It depends on the person.]
He frowned, his eyes locked on Trina’s hand, and Trina watched him with a worried expression, waiting for him to pull away or at least say something.
