Chapter 165

The four-spiked gorilla stood atop one of the sturdiest tree branches on one of the largest trees, which had not been decimated and uprooted like the ones around it.

The gorilla’s crimson eyes were locked onto the battle going on below: three different battles against three different humans in an unfair battle where the beasts numbered in the thousands while the humans numbered only three.

They were surrounded, cornered, outmatched, and outnumbered by a massive difference in numbers. With such an overwhelming advantage on the beasts’ side, surely they should have long ago torn the humans apart.

By all logical accounts, the beasts should have taken the win already. And yet... that was far from what was happening.

The four-spiked gorilla looked around from its position at the piles upon piles of beast corpses lying over one another.

Everywhere one looked, the corpses of beasts could be found at almost every corner. Nothing was going as the four-spiked gorilla had planned.

The three humans, despite their small number and staggering disadvantage, were not losing. If anything... they were winning.

At first, the gorilla was going to let them tire themselves out. After all, human physiques were weaker than those of the beasts, and not only that, their Qi reserves were also of a lower quantity.

Surely they would become weakened and lose sooner or later. But that wasn’t happening either. It was almost as if the three humans had limitless reserves of Qi and stamina, which was starting to make the four-spiked gorilla rather angry and furious. It wanted nothing more than to wipe out the humans itself.

But it held back. Surely they were nearing their end. They would fall. The four-spiked gorilla continued to tell itself that over and over again as it watched the battle unfurling below.

Yet as the seconds ticked by and more of its subordinates died, the more furious it became. If things continued the way they were going, then wouldn’t that mean that the humans would wipe out the beasts instead of being wiped out?

The eyes of the beast twitched as it felt ashamed that many of its subordinates had died under its watch. One might think it cared about them, but no. It didn’t give a fuck whether they died. Heck, it could kill them itself.

But having them killed by the humans while it stood there and watched made it feel as if they had hurt its pride. That made the four-spiked gorilla furious. And so, it had decided to join the battle itself.

It looked from Lazy Rayden’s battle to Dead Eye Rayden, then to King Rayden’s battle, and decided to take out the green-haired one first. He seemed to be the leader among the trio, and the deadliest.

Killing him would surely lower the other two’s morale, and that would make it easier for the beasts surrounding them to kill them off. The four-spiked gorilla bent forward. The crimson flames around its figure flared brightly, glowing an intense red before it launched itself forward.

And as it did that, the tree the beast had been standing on was engulfed by fire the very next second.

The beast’s speed was staggering as it dashed forward and then unleashed a punch. With the green-haired human still locked in combat, the beast was certain that its punch would make contact with his head.

That would surely break the green-haired bastard’s skull before the flames consumed him completely. The beast grinned darkly as its punch reached King Rayden fast.

And yet... to the beast’s dismay and shock, the green-haired human was able to move fast enough, twisting his body quickly and crossing his daggers right where the punch wanted to land. The beast’s flaming punch hit the daggers point-blank.

BOOM!

King Rayden was sent flying through the forest like a ragdoll.

The beast landed calmly on his feet, the flames raging across his body like tidal waves of destruction, making the temperature of the air in the place rise rapidly.

The other beasts stopped and looked at the four-spiked gorilla, wondering why he was joining the battle. The four-spiked gorilla didn’t say anything. With a wave of his hand, they were able to understand what their superior wanted.

He ordered them to leave the place and go support the others in dealing with the other two humans. The beasts didn’t protest. If anything, they were grateful for the beast’s intervention.

After all, they didn’t know which of them would fall next to the green-haired demon’s blades, and so, with faces full of relief and excitement, the beasts rushed away from the place and headed toward where Lazy Rayden and Dead Eye Rayden were still locked in their battles.

The four-spiked gorilla calmly turned his head and looked toward where King Rayden had been sent flying. The beast’s fist clenched slightly: "It is just as I thought. That human is far from normal."

Streaks of emerald lightning flashed within the beast’s vision, and then, in the very next second, the beast reacted, using his two massive hands to catch the two daggers that were coming straight for his eyes.

The beast didn’t even twitch as he looked at the figure whose entire body was covered in green lightning: "It is just as I thought. You are not a normal human."

King Rayden’s eyes flashed with brief surprise that his attack had been halted before he raised an eyebrow. Then he smiled calmly: "Is that supposed to be an insult or a compliment?" he asked in his usual calm and composed tone.

The beast didn’t answer with words. Instead, it tried to bring King Rayden forward using the two daggers it had caught as the medium.

Several spikes, covered in raging crimson flames, jutted from the beast’s body, rushing forward to impale King Rayden, who was being pulled closer. At the last moment, though, he let go of the daggers and managed to escape.

His figure appeared nearby, green lightning streaking across his body as some of the green lightning coagulated to form a long sword that he held firmly in his grasp. The twin daggers that the beast was holding vanished into thin air.

The beast turned to look at King Rayden, a little stunned once again. The guy is too fast.

King Rayden looked at the beast before speaking: "I thought you were never going to join the battle. What made you change your mind?"

The beast once again didn’t answer King Rayden’s calm talk. It rushed forward with fury burning in its eyes and attacked. With the beast’s speed and power, King Rayden had no choice but to engage it directly. He had no other choice, after all.

The two started to exchange moves in quick succession as the two sides fought vigorously, streaks of crimson flames and green lightning cutting through the decimated forest.

It didn’t take long for the difference between the two to show its ugly head, and King Rayden was soon forced onto the defensive. The gap between the Qi Gathering Realm and Foundation Realm was just way too big, after all.

The only reason why he was even managing to still hold his own to begin with was all because of his green lightning, which boosted his speed tremendously, and his battle IQ and skills, which far surpassed those of the beast by a great margin.

But those were the only two things that were barely keeping him alive. Because apart from those two, he was at a disadvantage in everything else, and not by a small margin either. The gap was pretty vast. Too vast, even.

King Rayden held on due to sheer stubbornness, his skill, and his experience, which lessened the burden and damage he ought to have been receiving. And yet, even as he did that, he was losing, and it wasn’t subtle. Soon. Very soon. He wouldn’t be able to keep up anymore.

The two streaks continued to move around the place for more than ten minutes before the two finally came to a stop. The beast landed atop a darkened boulder.

And yet, despite it being a boulder, meaning it should have been able to support his weight, it buckled down and groaned as if a massive behemoth had landed on it. Across from the beast, King Rayden appeared.

Although he looked nothing like the cool, calm, and composed guy from before. His green luxury robes were tattered and had many wounds across them. And more than that was the blood that trickled down his mouth and nose.

One could tell at a single glance that the guy didn’t look so good... and there was no blaming King Rayden on this one. It was already the peak of madness that he was even able to hold his own against a beast in the peak mid-stage of the Foundation Realm like this. It was truly the peak of madness.

Any other Qi Gathering cultivator would have died before they even knew how. King Rayden, despite his skills, talent, and experience, was still no match for the four-spiked gorilla. After all, the gap between them was just that vast.

King Rayden keeled over and coughed out a mouthful of blood. His face looked slightly pale, and even despite that, his gaze was still as calm and composed as ever as he wiped his mouth and turned to look at the beast, which seemed slightly stunned that a human was able to last this long against it to begin with.

The beast looked at King Rayden and then relaxed. It was clear that the human, no matter how freaky he was, wouldn’t last much longer.

The beast spoke, its tone sounding condescending: "Tell me, are you the Primal Tyrant?" the beast asked.

King Rayden raised an eyebrow before shaking his head: "No, I am not. Trust me, if he was the one you were fighting now... you would escape with a small mark like that."

King Rayden said, pointing at the slight mark on the beast’s fur that barely counted as a wound to begin with. "Sincerely speaking... he would break a few of your bones at worst."

He said it in a sincere tone, like he was simply stating a fact and nothing else.

The four-spiked gorilla didn’t listen to his rubbish and asked another question instead: "Where is the Primal Tyrant? Tell me, and your death shall be quick," the beast asked.

Yet despite how deadly and intimidating its tone sounded, King Rayden was not freaking out. If anything, despite the fact that he could clearly see that his situation was not looking good, he himself didn’t lose his cool.

King Rayden spoke, his tone still as sincere as before: "Let me give you a piece of advice. Stop looking for the Primal Tyrant. Because if you do find him, then your life would be in danger," he said.

The four-spiked gorilla raised an eyebrow, as if asking, What kind of rubbish are you spilling?

King Rayden continued: "You might wonder why. Well, I will tell you. It is simple. The reason is because the one you are looking for is a ruthless psycho..."

Meanwhile, back at the Ray Arena.

Liyu’s eyes slowly turned from normal human eyes to that of bestial slits as his aura subtly changed. He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze turning serious.

He really didn’t want to shift because he didn’t want to exhaust his Qi reserves, but now... he had been pushed to the brink. Haoran had only himself to blame for what was about to happen next.

Liyu’s hair slowly thickened somehow and then lengthened, almost reaching his knees. His teeth sharpened and turned into deadly fangs. His hands shifted and morphed into sharp, deadly claws.

The very air around him shifted as a bestial, primal aura surged forward, and the entire atmosphere immediately seemed to bend under his presence.

A loud, rumbling growl escaped Liyu’s mouth as he opened his eyes, which were no longer those of human eyes but were now bestial slits. His aura had changed entirely, becoming far more dominating and overbearing.

Everyone felt the changes instantly, including Guan Haoran and the crowd. They were stunned once again. But they weren’t the ones who were most stunned.

Instead, it was the higher-ups, the strongest cultivators among them, that were completely stupefied. The referee looked at Liyu with shaking eyes. What the hell was he seeing now?

At the seats of the leaders, their gazes all shifted as they looked at the scene below in shock, as if they had just seen something they were never meant to see.

Shi Gubing shot to his feet. His body was shaking. His eyes were locked onto Liyu as he spoke, his tone trembling: "What the hell is a beastman doing here?"
