Chapter 162

Ding! Momentum has been deactivated due to the time duration being reached. Wait for 1 hour and 30 minutes before reactivation of the skill.

Liyu’s gaze shook because, at that moment, there was no need for anyone to tell him. He realized one thing for himself.

He was cooked. Without Momentum boasting his speed by sixfold, his speed would totally plummet off the cliff, and if that happened, he wouldn’t be able to reach Guan Haoran’s side fast enough to land any hit on him and stop him from stomping onto the ground. He was cooked. Very cooked.

Liyu’s thoughts spun within his mind for barely a second before he realized it. He was so cooked. At that exact moment, Guan Haoran’s leg hit the ground hard, and the pressure descended with full force.

Without Momentum, how was he supposed to create the vibrations that could help him break loose from the pressure? And if he didn’t break loose... Then he was going to take that mind-numbing, earth-shattering attack head-on.

That was the true epitome of being cooked. Liyu thought as he looked upward. And surely enough, Haoran’s fist was already swinging forward with full force. And then came the voice that seemed to pass the verdict.

"Behemoth Punch!"

Haoran called out and punched. The air displaced. Space trembled. And Liyu saw death rushing toward his face. The ref, sensing that the barrier he had erected to protect the audience had already developed even more cracks and might shatter once more, reinforced it with his own energy.

Consuming a good quantity of his energy in the process. Another loud, mind-numbing bang echoed like the clash of thunder, and the very air trembled as the arena shook once more.

All gazes in the Ray Arena were wide in shock as they watched the battle going on below. What were they seeing? Although they couldn’t feel the waves of the attack due to the ref nullifying them with his barrier, they could still feel a little impact.

Maybe not an impact... But waves of emotions that the sheer power of the attacks stirred within them. Without anyone telling the mundane audience that was watching, they knew that if that attack had been directed at them and hit them, then just a single blow would be enough to wipe out a large chunk of them.

And all that explosive damage came from a single attack. Worse... From a single punch of one person. They had forced themselves to keep their cool because they believed that something so powerful could not be used so casually.

But to their greatest disbelief... It was used again. And then again. And then again. And now... It was used again. They felt as if their world was turning upside down. They knew that cultivators, after reaching a certain stage, possessed god-like powers.

But to have something so destructive and overpowered in the hands of a teenager like Guan Haoran... And he was able to do all that while still being at the Qi Refining Stage.

He hadn’t even crossed the Mortal Stage, which was widely considered the start of cultivation. And yet... He was already so terrifying. What would happen when he reached those god-level stages?

All the audience, cultivators and non-cultivators alike, sucked in a deep breath. They were all totally and utterly astonished by what they were seeing. And what was even more shocking... Was the fact that someone was still fighting and surviving against that kind of monster.

All the audience’s gazes locked onto Liyu, who was standing at the other side of the stage, one hand on his knee as he was bent over. He had managed to survive that attack once again. All eyes looking at Liyu shone with admiration and pity.

Admiration... Because he was really trying to still hold his own. Pity... Because he might very well die soon if he didn’t give up.

No matter how much hype the Honored One had been able to build over his past matches, the person he was facing now was an absolute monster in the truest sense.

The fact that he hadn’t given up after all that was enough to prove that the kid was either super courageous... Or maybe super foolish. No one could really tell.

Meanwhile, back on the stage, Liyu’s hand was over his knee as he coughed out blood. He had been able to escape that attack, but the waves from it alone that had hit him beforehand were enough to rattle him this badly.

Liyu coughed out more blood before turning his gaze toward Guan Haoran, who was looking at him with a weird expression. The guy remained silent for a while before speaking.

"You should really give up. If you don’t, I might really kill you next time," he said, his tone sounding rather sincere.

Liyu’s eyes twitched. He had nearly died earlier, and that was why he knew that the guy’s words were a fact.

One might wonder... How had Liyu survived that attack when Momentum had been deactivated at such a crucial moment? Well, the answer was simple. It was another ace up Liyu’s sleeve. Skill: Linear Blink. Rank: Basic. The skill was a powerful skill that allowed Liyu to blink in a straight line.

Blinking through any obstacle would cost more qi when used. The skill’s fatal flaw was the fact that it only allowed straight-line teleportation, and that could be deadly in a battle against an experienced fighter like Haoran.

But at the final moment back there, he really had no other choice but to use it. Or else... Liyu’s gaze darkened. This battle had drawn more from him than he could have ever imagined.

Liyu stood straight and wiped the blood from his mouth before turning his gaze toward Haoran. He looked at the man calmly before speaking.

"I can’t keep using my technique anymore. My qi reserves are low. What about you?" Liyu asked with a calm, factual tone.

Of course, now that Momentum was gone, using the tactics he had been using before was totally impossible. Not anymore.

So yeah, he wanted to confirm if the guy was going to use that crazy battle art of his again or if he would engage him in a straight hand-to-hand combat. Knowing the guy’s loyal attitude and carefree personality, he was certain that the man wouldn’t lie and tell him the truth.

So he just asked for the truth. The man looked at him for a few moments, as if gauging whether Liyu was trying to lie to him or not. And after a while, he shrugged before relaxing his feet back to normal. He had cancelled the Behemoth Stand.

"Actually, it’s the same here. My qi reserves are also running low."

After all, compared to Iron Skin, which was an Earth Grade technique, and the Behemoth Battle Art, which was a Sky Grade technique, the amount of qi they consumed was like day and night.

If not for Guan Haoran’s massive qi reserves due to him being a Heaven Grade cultivator, then he wouldn’t have been capable of using the Behemoth Stand’s two steps in conjunction with multiple uses of the Behemoth Punch several times now.

If it were any other normal cultivator, they would have run out of qi a long time ago. And despite him being different and having massive qi reserves, he was still running low on qi.

Although he still had some left to deal with Liyu, if it appeared that the guy was lying about no longer using that movement technique that was boosting his speed to such a tremendously abnormal level, then Guan Haoran would have no choice but to use the Behemoth Battle Art once more.

"Okay then. Let’s fight fair and square, just like before," Haoran said.

And Liyu nodded. This was the best he could manage for now. He was running low on qi. Really low. And even if he had massive reserves of it, he still had to be conservative, at least for now. Liyu looked at his qi reserves that had dwindled past half and couldn’t help but wonder...

*What the hell are the clones doing right now to not be doing the task I gave them?*

When Liyu had stepped onto the arena, he had been fully confident, not just because of his power alone, but because of the fact that he was certain his clones would be cultivating in his stead.

Meaning they would be constantly replenishing his qi. No matter how long he fought, he would never lack qi. But seeing and feeling his qi reserves dwindle over and over again without the refill, Liyu was starting to get slightly annoyed. He wondered if the clones were lazing off or something.

That would perhaps have surely been the case if it was only the lazy Rayden he had ordered. After all, that guy would rather be sleeping than doing anything else. But no. He had given the task to King Rayden and Dead Eye Rayden.

Both of which were super reliable. With how reliable the two were, he was certain that if there was no reason, then there was no way they wouldn’t be cultivating right now. Meaning... Something was surely up.

Liyu’s brows furrowed slightly as he wondered if his clones were in danger. He got himself worried for a few seconds before shaking his head. There were three of them, and they were all super powerful. Liyu himself could testify to that.

He had tasted their strength and power firsthand, so he doubted there was any beast around the perimeter where the trio were that could threaten them. And if they were to face a powerful threat, then surely, with the three of them, they would be able to take care of themselves.

Liyu shook the thought off. He should focus on the battle before him and not worry about his clones. They weren’t helpless kittens, after all. All of them were fierce like tigers. They wouldn’t fall.

He shook his head once more. He had no idea what his clones were dealing with, and really, he couldn’t afford to think about it too much because Haoran was charging right at him right now.

Liyu could only hope that they dealt with their problem fast enough and continued to cultivate. That was the key to him taking the win. His trump card...

Liyu engaged the large Haoran in close hand-to-hand combat once more as the two started to exchange moves one after another.

The echoes of their battle echoed over and over again as the two moved like lightning, blurry streaks flashing across the battle stage.

The two were skilled and fast, and their strength wasn’t so far apart from each other. In what seemed to be only a moment, the two had locked into the symphony of their battle just like before, and the people were drawn in.

They felt safe somehow. And relieved that Haoran wasn’t using those cannon punches anymore. They all focused on watching how the battle between the two would play out.

After several long minutes of battle, with the bang, bang, bang echoing endlessly, the two disengaged.

Liyu fell to his knees, coughing blood. Guan Haoran also fell to his knees and coughed blood, but his puddle was far smaller than Liyu’s. The reason was pretty clear for anyone paying attention.

Although the two seemed to be evenly matched on all grounds, there were two advantages that Haoran had over Liyu. With the first advantage being the fact that he was able to strike and chain attacks effectively, striking more at Liyu’s vital points, and if Liyu blocked, he would suffer rapid attacks in another place.

This was the sole reason Liyu had opted to use Momentum in the first place. But now that the skill had run out, he could only resort to head-on assault, which seemed to be failing him.

And the second, and maybe the biggest advantage that Haoran had over Liyu, was his Iron Skin, boosted by his Metal Qi. With that, he had far higher defense than Liyu, and so he received less damage while leaving greater damage on Liyu.

Liyu keeled over and coughed out another mouthful of blood. His entire nerves were hurting as he looked at his own reflection in his blood. His face looked slightly pale, which was probably due to the blood loss. Haoran stood up and wiped the bloodstain from his mouth before speaking.

"You have done your best. Trust me, you tried. You really tried, even. But at the end... You can’t win. It is over. Admit defeat. I don’t want to hurt you more than how you are right now," Haoran said.

His tone made it clear how much he respected Liyu and didn’t want to hurt him anymore. Liyu didn’t say anything for a while. When he did, though, his tone was that of deep resignation, as if he had really been pushed back to the wall.

"I hate to do this... And sincerely, I don’t think I would be using this in this tournament, especially not before the final match. But I guess I’m wrong. I wouldn’t win if I don’t."

Liyu wiped the blood from his mouth, his face turning a shade darker as his expression suddenly became blank, making him look very scary.

"You only have yourself to blame for what happens next."

After Liyu said that, his face reflected in the puddle below changed. His normal dark eyes changed from normal human eyes... To bestial slits.
