Chapter 863
Chapter 863
Anton knew that both his father and his sister planned to play the games by themselves, either solo or by joining existing parties, since doing so would make their leveling sessions more flexible instead of forcing them to follow a schedule.
He had told them that because he was aboard the ship, he would always be available for a good gaming session during the ladder season. However, Anders and Anna both explained that, with their schedules, they would have to steal time from their busy days to level up their characters. Most likely, they would only be able to play for an hour or two before going to sleep.
At the very least, each of them would know if the others were playing because the Diablo II icon on their wrists would notify them whenever someone was inside the game.
“That would be an issue since I thought that when we realized the other two were inside the game, it was somewhat a signal that you wanted to communicate,” Anton said to his father and sister.
“You’re right. I remember you had that pair of magic earrings that you had Raymond purchase. They would change color if the person holding the other pair wanted to communicate,” Anders said.
“Yes! I forgot about those. One of the pair is still with me, and I think the other pair is still with Raymond.”
“I’ll get it from Raymond and use it to signal you whenever I want to communicate with you. Anna can tell me if she needs to talk to you, and then I’ll signal you through the earrings,” Anders said to Anton.
The three of them also created rules for their gaming sessions. Anton was flabbergasted when he learned that both his father and sister wanted some privacy while gaming. Therefore, if any one of them was currently playing and the game was password-protected, it meant they were playing with people they had met.
That rule was created because Anna wanted to play with the two girls they had met during their first game of the new ladder season. The two girls had told Anna about an all-female gaming session and invited her to join them.
Since Anna wanted to try that, Anders said that he was also interested in playing with other gamers. After that, both Anton’s father and sister left the game.
Anton also stopped playing. He thought that since the communication earrings had become important, he needed to always have them visible. Therefore, he decided to pierce his ears while outside the game and simply wear them. If his father sent a signal that he wanted to communicate through the earrings, Anton would notice immediately.
He also decided that while leveling up his ladder character during the ladder season, he would need to leave the game every few hours just to check his surroundings. After the major update, his entire body was transported inside the game instead of only his consciousness like before.
Anton would run into trouble if someone noticed that he had disappeared from the ship for several days.
After checking his rooms and confirming that everything was normal, he checked outside his door and informed a passing patrolling guard that he would be occupied inside his room for several hours and might not answer if someone knocked.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
The guard said they understood and would act accordingly. However, they suggested that Anton notify them if he finished earlier than expected, and they also asked that next time he needed to inform the guards about something similar, he should provide a longer estimated time.
Anton told them that he understood and would only notify the patrolling guards if he planned to be occupied for more than ten hours during the day.
With that, Anton felt relieved. Even though he often lost track of time while leveling his characters for hours, it would not cause any trouble for the others on the ship.
He was also glad that he had already told Paul and Eric not to disturb him and that he would only inform them if he was available to play through one of his raven summons.
After that, Anton returned to leveling his newly created ladder Warlock character until deep into the night. Whenever he became hungry, he would pause his gaming session and exit the game to eat. When he felt tired, he would sleep, making sure to set up his Pearl of the Ocean magic item before resting.
For the next three days, Anton did nothing except level up his ladder Warlock character until he reached the maximum level.
Anton immediately transferred a Hellfire Torch for the Necromancer since that was the only one he was missing among the Necromancer, Barbarian, Amazon, and Assassin classes. He also transferred twenty percent of the Warlock’s primary stat from the game into his body in the real world.
Anders and Anna both asked for more items from him, but Anton felt that assigning them only two items each was enough. Once they reached the maximum level of their ladder characters, they would be able to transfer their own items from the game.
During those three days of playing, Anton noticed that both his father and sister had entered the game. However, he was unable to join them because their games were password-protected.
He was surprised that the two had immediately found other people to play with.
Anton simply shrugged and accepted that his little family wanted to experience gaming with others. In truth, he felt that it was slightly unhealthy for the three of them to be so attached, though he admitted that it was mostly his own fault. Ever since he transmigrated to this world, he had become somewhat clingy toward both of them.
Since he had reached the maximum level of his first Diablo II character in the new ladder season in such a short amount of time, he decided that he needed to take a break.
When he checked the time, he was glad to see that it was already late afternoon, which was the perfect time to roam around. While leveling his Warlock character, he had completely failed to notice how much time had passed.
Anton summoned a raven, attached a letter to its leg, and commanded it to find Paul and Eric. The letter simply told the two to go to the café where they had last met.
While waiting for them, Anton ordered a coffee and slowly drank it. Less than ten minutes later, the two young men arrived.
“Thank the divines, you’re available to play again. We were just wandering around without spending anything,” Paul said.
Anton knew that without him, the two would not dare spend a single coin because their families did not have a source of income during the year-long journey to Izmorta.
He knew that almost all normal travelers followed extremely strict budgets during the trip to ensure they would not run out of resources before arriving in Izmorta. The only people who could spend coins without worrying about running out were people like Anton, who brought countless resources with him and could create items that others were willing to pay large amounts of money for.
Not only that, but he could even request permission from the ship’s management to use the small portal box to gather funds from his family if there was ever a real need.
Still, everyone was looking forward to the ship stopping at the first major island on the way to Izmorta since it would allow many passengers to gather resources.
Even if Anton never spent a single coin, he had enough food and drinks inside his inventory to survive for decades.
Anton dismissed the raven that had been following Paul and Eric. The two young men immediately ordered a large amount of drinks and pastries from the café.
While they were eating, Eric asked again what Anton had been doing during the days when he was unavailable.
Since Anton did not want to reveal anything related to his Diablo System, he simply told the two that it was related to his magic and that he could not share any more details.
