Chapter 20: I would lick your shoes if you don’t drop out

Logan immediately pulled her in, kissing her fully, his hands gripping her ass firmly as things began to escalate fast.

Miss Stephanie seemed not to be slowing down. Her hands had already begun touching around Logan’s body.

They seemed shaky and unsteady due to the rollercoaster of emotions, but they still very much knew exactly what they actually wanted at the time—and what they had actually wanted was Logan.

Stephanie wanted Logan.

And Logan reciprocated the same feeling. He couldn’t wait to have Stephanie in his hands.

To kiss her like she truly belonged to him and him alone.

Things were already escalating, but as fate would have it, today might not have been the day for them.

Logan’s phone buzzed.

Immediately he broke out of the kiss to answer the phone, and low and behold, it was Brandon who was calling him.

Without wasting any time, he picked up the call.

"Bro, are you active on the group chat? A lot of things are happening. The news of Miss Stephanie’s case is all over, and guess who they are blaming... you, of course. But Logan, that’s not the issue right now... Logan, I think we are cooked," Brandon spoke with a shaky voice.

"Brandon, what is going on? I haven’t entered that chat for some time," Logan said, his voice stern as he focused on Brandon who was at the other end of the phone.

Meanwhile, Stephanie was standing at the corner of the room, feeling all cringed out for acting out of emotions.

But obviously she couldn’t afford to show it or even behave cringe in the least. I mean, that would just have made it even more cringe.

"Well, rumors have it that the university has revoked your scholarship, and you know how hard it is for us to even get the money for the ten percent, but now there isn’t even a scholarship anymore, which is just insane. I can’t even lie."

"Hmmm." Logan couldn’t really respond. He was still trying his best to understand the whole situation.

He immediately opened his phone and scrolled down to his school portal, and just like Brandon had sighted, the scholarship had truly been lifted.

He immediately scrolled to the group chat, at least to get a sense of what was actually truly going on.

"Yes, can you imagine? How on earth does he even feel being the reason why a happy family would just fall apart just like that?"

"Yeah, the scholarship being revoked truly served him right. At this point I can’t even lie. At least his broke ass won’t be staying in this school anymore."

"Yeah, he is quite a pain in the ass. Now this whole incident has cost him his own academics. So pathetic, I can’t even lie."

"Yep, he has to drop out. No way someone owing almost 5000 dollars in student loans could even afford a 100 percent tuition. It’s just so sad."

The comments were so straight and very unforgiving, to the extent that Brandon had to type back at the group.

"So you bunch of fools have nothing better to do with your life than to come here painting someone black? And to be honest, I’m sure you guys don’t even believe he’s wrong. Some of you might even feel pity for him deep down, but just because you want to please one stupid couple who can’t even tell their left from their right, you then decide to be stupid." Brandon kept typing. He wasn’t done, his fury getting to the top.

"Look, I’m very sure some of you would not even get a chance to actually ever talk to any of them, yet you’re here hating on an innocent orphan boy who is barely trying to survive."

Logan saw the messages and the fact that Brandon was still not slowing down. He just had to speak up.

"Bro, it’s alright. No need to waste your words on those pathetic people. And if the school really wants to take the scholarship, then so be it. I really appreciate you, man, but it’s not worth exchanging words with these losers," Logan spoke calmly. The truth was that he was not even wrong.

The only people talking and backlashing him in the group were actually the noise in the class—the low-level cheerleaders.

They probably came from a very modest family in which their parents were working their asses off just to send them to school.

The main big fishes in the class had been silent.

Even after being tagged several times.

I mean, if that doesn’t send a message, Logan wondered what would.

"But what about you, man? What are you actually going to do now?" Brandon said in a crackling voice. It was quite obvious he was still boiling.

"Don’t worry, fam. We are going to definitely figure something out," he said calmly as they exchanged final pleasantries before ending the call.

"Sorry about that. It was my friend Brandon. He just called to tell me that my scholarship had been called off," Logan said with a smile, about to tuck his phone back into his pocket when a message caught his attention.

As one would have it, it seemed like Brandon’s message had calmed things down. It even got some likes, although no one actually dared to reply to it. After all, Brandon might be from a poor home, but he was definitely not a knock-off and was one of the most respected students in the class because of his academic prowess.

But one person seemed to have been enjoying way too much to allow things just die off like that.

"Slow down, dude. I know he’s your friend, but it really doesn’t mean you should be covering up for him like that. We all know what he did was wrong, and he’s definitely dropping out of school. At least that’s the price he needed to pay for such insolence," Evelyn typed out, adding a laughing emoji to it.

And as though the floodgates opened up, people began typing again.

"How sure are you he would drop out, or are you just bent on insulting people?" Brandon immediately replied back. He was definitely not even going to back down at this stage. He was all in.

Evelyn immediately commented a bunch of laughing emojis before she finally began to type.

"Well, you see, there are some things that are really not to be talked about. With how poor Logan is, I would definitely lick his shoes and apologize in public if he is able to make it back to school next session," Evelyn commented with another bunch of laughing emojis.

"Reality check: not happening. Even paying his student loans would be a big problem for that troublemaker. The truth hurts, doesn’t it, Brandon?" Evelyn chimed in again.

At this point it was like a back and forth between Brandon and Evelyn.

Brandon got so furious, typing so fast his typos were getting so much, but even before he could reply, Logan’s reply to Evelyn’s message took him by shock.

"Alright, we have a deal." That was his reply.

"What on earth is Logan thinking?" Brandon murmured, his anger turning into outright confusion. Even he knew that Logan couldn’t come up with those fees. From the looks of things, Logan was just complicating things for himself
