Chapter 12: Paul thought he was the boss but it seams the table has turned
Miss Stephanie unfortunately arrived home in no time, but to her surprise the house was already reeking of beer right from the entrance.
"Oh, he’s back already," she thought for some time before putting two and two together.
It was very obvious now.
Her husband had already come home early. It was obvious that Andrew had already told him something.
Miss Stephanie already knew how this would go.
She would get the hell beaten out of her for what she had done.
But not today. She couldn’t bear such treatment from them anymore. She had already made up her mind.
As much as she couldn’t accept the fact that she had enjoyed her time with Logan much more than she was meant to, she couldn’t lie or try to cover up her feelings on this particular situation. She had no more feelings for Paul anymore.
After today, her eyes had finally been opened. She didn’t want anything to do with him anymore.
As if reading her thoughts, the agent immediately called back with the report on Logan.
"Hello Miss, I have just concluded all investigations and Logan has quite a really bad story. I feel pity for the guy."
"I’m all ears," Miss Stephanie said so calmly that the agent on the other side had to shrug.
"Okay, maybe once you come tomorrow I would give you the full details. But firstly, here is what you really need to know..." The man took a break before finally speaking.
"Aged 21, lost both parents at age 14, was raised by an aunt who he later lost to liver fibrosis. Had to work on the street and very hard in high school to be able to get a 95 percent scholarship in college.
Dated a girl named Evelyn, got heartbroken, and is now owing almost 5 thousand dollars in student loans since he was not able to sponsor himself fully in school. He was also doing everything in his power to support Evelyn."
Miss Stephanie wanted to drop her phone there and then.
How on earth was this boy going through all this and still smiled and chatted heartily? How on earth can one go through all this?
Miss Stephanie already started feeling guilty for the coffee he had bought. She was sure it was obviously more costly than normal coffee.
"Pay all the debts," she said coldly, still behind the wheel.
"Yes ma," the messenger said as Miss Stephanie was about to cut the call, but he interrupted again.
"Ma, I hope all is well because a video of you and Logan has been trending online. I just came across it because my FYP is all oriented around the company, so such videos hardly skip my radar."
"Alright, just send it to me. I would take a look when I’m done with what I am currently doing," Miss Stephanie’s reply was still so calm for someone trending for a bad reason.
But she did not give Charles, her personal assistant, one more chance to speak.
"Okay then, see you tomorrow," Miss Stephanie ended the phone call with a click and dialed another number on the line.
******
She hadn’t gotten off the car for almost 30 minutes now. What on earth is going on? Is she really that scared of coming in?
Andrew spoke while looking out from the balcony as his dad laid nonchalantly on the couch.
"Well, if she is scared then that’s really on her. She made her choices and now she really shouldn’t be scared to face them. Besides, it’s just a matter of time. As far as that video you showed me keeps on going that strong, she would lose everything faster than she can realize," Paul spoke so nonchalantly, gulping another mouthful of vodka.
"Yes, you are absolutely right. One hundred and one percent right actually," Andrew replied, excitement taking over his whole body as he finally saw Miss Stephanie leave the car.
The show was definitely about to go down.
In less than two minutes, Miss Stephanie was already in the sitting room. And like they had expected, she was not really shocked to see Paul and him there.
But Paul was agitated. Immediately he saw her inside, he immediately lunged at her, hitting her so hard in the face that the sound reverberated over the whole house.
"You should be a fool. What did you think you were doing?" Paul spoke, his whole demeanor boiling in anger.
Andrew meanwhile stayed on one of the cushions, enjoying the show fully.
As expected, Miss Stephanie would put her head down submissively as Paul hit her over and over.
But this time all she did was move over to a nearby chair and sit down, touching her face lightly as if trying to assess the damage.
Paul was so shocked he was rooted to the position, unable to move.
But before long, his shock was replaced with rage.
How dare she disrespect him like that?
Paul was in a fury. Before he could even make another move, three men dressed in suits burst into the house and subdued him even before he could understand what was going on.
Andrew wanted to run away but he was also subdued.
The men made both of them kneel right in front of Stephanie, but still Stephanie was not really concerned. She was rather still focused on assessing the severity of the slap she was just given.
The men meanwhile stayed on guard as if waiting for the next order.
The tension in the air was very high.
After about a minute, Stephanie stood up. Paul couldn’t even guess what he had coming.
Pah pah pah.
Three hot slaps right on his cheeks.
"What do you think I am? Your punching bag? No, tell me. I really do want to know. Aren’t you so pathetic? You can’t even provide for yourself. You’re receiving allowance from your own wife and yet you’re still abusive. Who the hell do you think you are?" Miss Stephanie said, boiling over in anger.
"Boys, you know what to do. I have had a long day," she said before leaving the sitting room.
