My Overpowered Bunny Girls

Chapter 100: The Whispering Dark Tower (2)

The Stalker thrashed, utterly disoriented, clawing at its own face. Kuro didn’t hesitate. [Assassinate] sank both daggers straight down into its collarbone. SHINK-SHINK. The construct shattered into harmless ash.

"The [Blind] severs their tracking!" Nathan called out, tracking Kuro’s movements through the UI.

They hunt via localized mana detection, Kuro relayed coolly through the mental link, already sinking back into the floor. Disrupt the sensory network, and they are helpless.

Nathan planted his feet. With natural vision useless, he surrendered entirely to the Insight overlay. THWIP. THWIP. He only took guaranteed shots, his [Mana Arrows] perfectly threading the needle through the dark to pierce the Stalkers’ cores. The Capacitor hummed steadily against his wrist, feeding him just enough mana to sustain the heavy UI draw.

At the front, Mirko made herself a beacon. She ignited [Impenetrable Fortress], pushing the hard-light barrier to maximum output. In the pitch black, the blazing green sphere was blinding, a massive roaring flare that the Stalkers simply couldn’t ignore.

"Come to me, you faceless cowards!" Mirko roared, the sound heavily muffled but the intent perfectly clear. "Break yourselves against my shield!"

They swarmed her, drawn like moths. And as they crashed against the green light, the rest of the party dismantled them.

Dillon’s [Thunder Edge] painted the street in strobe-light flashes of stark, violent white, his katana slicing through the blinded void constructs. Elise hurled compressed [Mana Bolts] into the densest clusters, the explosions briefly illuminating the crumbling architecture. Garrett and Red crushed anything that slipped past the front line.

It was a perfectly synchronized meat grinder, operated entirely in the dark.

[Floor 1 Cleared!]

---

Floor 2 was a claustrophobic maze of collapsed buildings and incredibly narrow alleyways. The magical darkness deepened from Moderate to High.

And the whispering began.

It started at the very edges of Nathan’s hearing, a faint, insidious static that bypassed the Tower’s acoustic dampening.

"...Nathan..."

He froze. The voice was small. Terrified. It was Lucy.

"...Nathan, please... I can’t see... where are you...?"

His heart slammed against his ribs. His boots shifted involuntarily, pivoting toward the sound echoing from a narrow, collapsed thoroughfare to their left.

Master. Mirko’s voice cut through the telepathic link like a blade of cold steel. Hold your ground. Lucy is safe in the capital with Mrs. Chen. You know this to be absolute fact. Trust what you know, not what you hear.

Nathan gritted his teeth, forcing his boots to plant firmly against the stone. The physiological reaction was terrifyingly strong. "Right," he breathed. He raised his voice over the auditory hallucinations. "Everyone! The voices are biological lures! Do not follow them! Trust the link!"

Drifting through the high ruins above them were the Giant Bats.

They were massive: six-foot wingspans of fur so dark it actively absorbed the meager light Elise’s staff put out. Their jaws hung unhinged, emitting the perfectly mimicked voices of the party’s loved ones, stolen directly from their surface thoughts.

"Dillon... help me, man, I’m trapped under the rubble..." a voice pleaded from the right flank.

Dillon flinched, his katana dropping a fraction of an inch. "That’s...That’s my brother," he whispered, taking a half-step toward the alley.

Elise’s hand shot out, her grip like iron on Dillon’s shoulder. "It is a lie. Form up."

"I know," Dillon grunted, shaking his head violently to clear the illusion. "I know it is. But the cadence is perfect."

While the party struggled with the psychological assault, Kuro took total control of the battlefield.

[Silent Step] made her naturally immune to the auditory manipulation. She heard only the heavy, leathery beat of their wings. Moving through the dark canopy of the ruined buildings, she utilized [Weak Point Sense].

Suddenly, bright, jagged red markers began appearing in Nathan’s Insight overlay, cutting through the sensory chaos like laser sights.

Four targets. Left high-rise. Two more descending on the rear. Marked, Kuro’s voice echoed cleanly in the link.

Nathan didn’t hesitate. He let Kuro do the spotting and became the executioner. THWIP-THWIP-THWIP.

He fired blindly into the dark, trusting Kuro’s markers implicitly. The arrows streaked upward, illuminating the gloom in flashes of silver just as they punched through the bats’ heavy torsos. The stolen voices cut off in choked, dying shrieks as the massive creatures crashed into the streets.

Elise followed up, launching a volley of [Mana Bolts] at the remaining markers. The concussive blasts echoed wetly in the damp air, providing brief, blessed silence.

[Floor 2 Cleared!]

---

Floor 3 opened into a vast, subterranean plaza. The darkness here hit Critical.

Even [Hunter’s Insight] was beginning to fail, the wireframe overlay violently flickering and artifacting at the edges of Nathan’s vision. The mental link to his summons was fraying, filling with painful, white-noise static.

The atmospheric density is interfering with the bond, Kuro reported, her mental voice breaking up. Physical proximity... maintain...

She stopped abruptly.

Through the heavy static of his Insight, Nathan saw them.

Standing in the center of the plaza, gathered around a massive fountain filled with viscous, lightless liquid shadow, were three human thermal signatures.

They wore the heavy, tailored dark grey cloaks of the Nemesis Court.

They hadn’t expected company. One of the operatives—a lean man with a scar across his jaw—was in the middle of affixing a violently pulsing black crystal to the base of the fountain.

"Hold on, the ward just tripped," the scarred operative said, his voice carrying clearly through the dark, enhanced by some localized spell. He turned, peering into the gloom. "Someone breached the Floor 2 gate. Clamour guaranteed this sector was sealed."

The second operative, a massive, broad-shouldered man, stepped forward, his eyes narrowing. As Nathan stepped into the dim radius of the fountain’s magical light, the operative’s face twisted into a sneer.

"Cross. The Bunny Summoner," the broad man growled. "Clamour said you were sniffing around."

"Clamour was right," Nathan said flatly, pulling Moonlight to full draw.

The third operative, a woman with dead, calculating eyes, didn’t bother bantering. The summoner’s crest on her palm was already bleeding a sickly purple light. "Clamour wants him dead anyway. Kill them all, detonate the crystal manually, and collapse the Tower. We leave no witnesses."

"Three Court lackeys," Dillon murmured, his katana sliding from its sheath with a menacing, electrical hiss. "Three of them. Plus their summons. Versus us... I’m fine with those odds."

"Maintain your spacing," Elise warned, her staff crystal flaring from blue to a hostile, aggressive white. "They are cornered."

The three operatives raised their palms and three massive summoning circles erupted across the plaza, throwing harsh, violent purple light against the ruined buildings.

From the first circle slithered a Shadow Basilisk—forty feet of midnight scales and heavy muscle, its eyes burning with a paralyzing crimson glare. From the second circle rose an Iron Revenant—a hulking, twelve-foot golem constructed of rusted, animated torture cages and dark magic. From the third, a swarm of shifting, localized voids coalesced into a Void Hound, it’s jaw dripping with anti-magic venom.

"Kill them," the female operative commanded.

"Standard formation!" Nathan roared, the Capacitor on his wrist surging. "Mirko, lock down the Revenant! Kuro, the Basilisk is yours! Blind it before it establishes line-of-sight! Garrett, Dillon, Elise! wipe the Hound first, then crash the center!"

"Hmph!" Mirko stepped forward, her greatsword catching the purple light of the summoning circles. "Three cultists and their borrowed pets! Prepare to be dismantled!"

Overconfidence, Kuro noted, already sinking into the shadows.

"Is not a factor when I am this heavily armored!" Mirko yelled back, but The irony of her skimpy Tight suit armour didn’t fall flatly on the whole party.

The Court operatives charged. The summons roared. The brawl erupted.
