Chapter 1447: The Woman Behind the Scenes
Namie and her four subordinates surrounded Ye Fan. Now, Namie finally moved—she slowly stood up, murderous intent flooding her face.
When her four subordinates weren’t here, she didn’t dare act rashly. Attacking blindly not only had zero chance of success, it couldn’t shake Ye Fan’s edge in the slightest. On this point, she understood better than anyone. So she’d been enduring, all for the sake of waiting for this moment to arrive.
With the strength of all five combined, Namie dared to fight. Even if her chances were slim, it was still better than having no chance at all.
"Ye Fan, you’re pretty arrogant. But you’ve got the right to be." Namie stared hard at Ye Fan and shouted, "Since that’s the case, then bring it on. We’re really curious to see just how capable you are."
"I won’t let you down." Ye Fan spoke mildly. He drained the wine in his glass, then suddenly stood up.
He scanned over Namie and the others with blatant provocation, then said with mocking ease, "Make your move."
"Kill!" The five of them roared from deep in their throats, their voices laced with razor‑sharp killing intent, crashing together in the air.
The five moved like released arrows, like thunder crashing down, murderous pressure surging.
Like five hunting wolves, they locked onto Ye Fan as their target, unleashing a terrifying aura of slaughter.
"Bang!" With a single punch, Ye Fan’s fist slammed down, meeting a woman’s fist head‑on. Her fist warped, her arm twisted; under the brutal impact, the entire arm was ruined. Bones cracked sharply, bursting through flesh and skin, tearing out from under her sleeve—white bone jutting, blood all over it, a horrifying sight.
"Ah!" The woman couldn’t help but let out a subconscious scream torn from the depths of her pain.
Right after, Ye Fan threw another punch, smashing straight into the woman’s torso.
She was sent flying, spitting blood as she crashed into the wall. Her life force was gone—dead as a dog.
"What terrifying speed, what horrifying power." Namie watched it all, shock flooding her heart, fear filling her eyes.
"Fight to the death!" Namie shouted with everything she had, cheering herself on even as she vented her terror.
"Boom!" Ye Fan’s leg flashed out, killing intent spraying, a vicious stomp crashing into another woman’s chest. She immediately spewed blood; with her chest caving and bones snapping, she fell dead on the spot, eyes wide, unable to rest in peace.
In the span of a breath, Ye Fan killed enemy after enemy at his hands. The fight was brutal—and utterly ruthless.
A moment later, of the five women under Namie, only Namie herself was still standing. The other four had already died in battle.
"Cough, cough!" Namie couldn’t hold back her coughing. A sweetness rose in her throat, and she couldn’t stop the blood from spilling out of her mouth.
She forced her injuries down, then gave a bitter smile and said, "Mr. Ye, you truly live up to your name in the Underworld, a terrifying powerhouse who makes every faction tremble. This combat strength... it’s insanely fierce, already beyond what I can comprehend."
"Need me to hold back?" Ye Fan looked at Namie and spoke lazily.
"I’d rather die than surrender." Namie replied firmly. Of course she understood what Ye Fan meant by holding back—he wanted her to submit. That was something she would never do. She’d die before she surrendered.
"I’m always merciful. I’ll give you a quick death." Ye Fan didn’t try to persuade her further; he struck without hesitation.
Namie died at Ye Fan’s hands.
With that, this hidden force under Namie’s command was completely wiped out under the combined assault of Ye Fan, Zhang Lu, and the others.
Not long after, Zhang Lu and Yang Shu, having finished handling the auction house matters, arrived at the scene of Namie’s death.
"All dead?" Zhang Lu swept a glance over the five corpses and asked.
"Dead. Every one of them kept their mouths shut." Ye Fan said slowly.
"Counting Namie, tonight we’ve killed a total of eleven enemies—eleven experts." Yang Shu said, "If all eleven had gathered together, the destruction they could cause would be huge. You have to know, pick any one of these eleven and they’d be a bit stronger than me. Taking out so many powerhouses in one go is a real major victory."
"From what I can tell, Namie was just one of the hidden pieces. The person who stayed in constant contact with her is no lightweight either." Ye Fan said, "Before I showed myself, Namie was on the phone with a woman the whole time. Seems that woman is the real mastermind."
"West Guxiu has so many people placed openly. Even Asai and his group of thirty are forces directly under West Guxiu’s command." Zhang Lu said in shock, "I didn’t expect there to be another terrifying group of experts cooperating with West Guxiu—or maybe even directing West Guxiu. Judging from the lineup around Namie, the odds that West Guxiu is taking orders from above are pretty high."
From what they knew of West Guxiu, plus the Asai group they’d wiped out, and now Namie and her people, one thing was crystal clear: West Guxiu and the others were hell‑bent on getting that Ancient Painting. They were the most prepared faction by far. Whether in terms of how hard they were striking or the lineup they were sending, they were far beyond anything the other forces could match.
Compared to the other factions, the strength West Guxiu’s side was showing was simply too overwhelming.
"We don’t yet know who the woman behind Namie is, what identity she has, or how much power she wields." Ye Fan said with certainty. "But one thing is sure: that woman who hasn’t shown herself yet is the biggest threat. Namie followed her orders directly, so it’s not hard to guess that West Guxiu is also under that woman’s control."
"Even though we’re out in the open and the enemy’s in the dark, it doesn’t matter. We still hold a certain initiative—in some ways, we’re in the dark too." Zhang Lu said with a smile. "The situation at the auction house is secret. With all the layers of security, it won’t be easy for the enemy to figure out the details. Whether they strike blindly or with a plan, it’s all walking into the tiger’s jaws."
"No matter how deep the enemy hides, they’ll show themselves." Yang Shu said cheerfully. "It just depends on how sharp our methods are, whether we can force them to come out faster. We’ll have to work even harder."
"We should be able to find some clues here that are useful to us. Go through the place yourselves." Ye Fan said. "It’s already very late. I’m going back to rest."
"Instructor, go get some sleep. We’ll handle the cleanup." Yang Shu said.
"Not grabbing late‑night food together?" Zhang Lu asked with a smile.
"I’ll pass." Ye Fan left.
In this trap Zhang Lu set up, Ye Fan played a crucial role. With the job done, there was no need for him to worry about the cleanup. It was time for him to rest.
