Chapter 1446: You’re Too Arrogant
Ye Fan and Namie were sitting diagonally opposite each other, with a coffee table half-blocking between them. On the coffee table, there was alcohol.
Nami appeared on high alert, looking as if she was ready to pounce, eager to immediately cut down Ye Fan right in front of her.
However, she knew deep down that she couldn’t do it. Therefore, apart from being on guard to attack, she didn’t dare act rashly.
Nami continued to glare at Ye Fan intensely, but Ye Fan was indifferent to Nami’s wariness.
Ye Fan drained his glass, stood slightly to refill it with more alcohol, and realistically praised, "The alcohol is really good. The people, not so much, but this alcohol, it’s really great."
Nami was so angry she could hardly speak. Ye Fan’s every move kept her nerves perpetually on edge.
Good alcohol, not-so-good people—such words made Nami grit her teeth in fury, but she didn’t dare to explode first.
"Mr. Ye, I call you Mr. Ye, as a recognition of your status and respect," Nami organized her words before accusing, "This is my home, the alcohol is mine, and it has nothing to do with you. Running into someone’s house, spouting nonsense and making reckless comments, isn’t something a normal person would do."
"Your home? Your alcohol?" Ye Fan glanced at Nami, saying playfully, "No, you are wrong. This isn’t your home—at best, it’s a den for disposing of stolen goods, a place concealing crime, how could it possibly be home? As for this alcohol? You say it’s yours, yes, but only if you can stay alive. Soon, even this alcohol will be ownerless. How could it be yours?"
Ye Fan took sips from the glass, speaking as if nothing was happening.
"There’s some sense in what you’re saying, but you’re speaking from your standpoint," Nami replied coldly, "We each serve our masters. To me, this is my home, bought with my money, unrelated to you. As for your so-called den, it depends on who you ask. To you, it might be a place of crime, but to me, it’s home."
On this point, Nami stressed particularly; she couldn’t stand Ye Fan’s irritating demeanor.
"Your explanation seems to hold some truth, but when you’re soon to be a dead person, does saying things so clearly have any use?" Ye Fan’s gaze was calm, filled with composure, without an ounce of urgency to strike.
"A gentleman may die but can’t be humiliated," Nami said loudly, "You can try all you want, have the guts to kill me, but in my home, you cannot speak so blatantly and shamelessly drink my alcohol while speaking ill of me."
Ye Fan’s behavior was outrightly offensive to Nami, how could she not be enraged?
"This alcohol, I am set on drinking it. What can you do about it?" Ye Fan poured himself another glass, wanting to see more of Nami’s limits and to further provoke her, it would be for the better.
"You..." Nami’s eyes widened furiously, yet she dared not make a move, trembling with anger.
"Seeing you bear and hold in your anger to the point of almost suffocating is truly satisfying," Ye Fan commented.
"The great Mr. Ye isn’t he just too rude, abusing his strength, and just too shameless?" Nami exclaimed vehemently.
"What? Want to hit me? Go ahead, try it," Ye Fan provoked.
Nami restrained her nearly out-of-control emotions and spoke helplessly, "What do you want?"
"I was thinking, if I could get more information from your mouth, a dead person isn’t as valuable as a living one, don’t you think?" Ye Fan casually glanced at Nami’s reaction, speaking in a persuasive tone.
Nami couldn’t hide her anger and replied, "You’re dreaming. Do you think I’d betray my partners? Forget about it."
"I know you have a hard mouth, but I still plan to persuade you; opposing me will lead only to death. If you comply, there might be a chance to survive. Opportunities like this don’t come often, don’t you plan to consider it?" Ye Fan tried to coax.
If he could uncover more hidden enemies, it would be far better than just killing Nami and her people.
Even though the chances of achieving this were slim, not trying would leave him unsatisfied.
"If you can get anything useful from me, I’ll give you my head," Nami sneered, "Do you think your babbling nonsense will gain trust? It’s laughable."
"Seems you’re prepared to die and unwilling to disclose more," Ye Fan said indifferently, "I believe even if you die, a lot of useful information can be scoured from here since this is your den."
At this moment, four of Nami’s subordinates arrived, each with a serious expression, appearing beside Ye Fan, subtly forming a surround, encasing Ye Fan.
Upon seeing the arrival of the four women, Ye Fan noticed but didn’t pay any mind.
Namie was visibly pleased; she knew better than to recklessly attack Ye Fan alone, fully aware of the consequences. She had been waiting for this moment when her four subordinates arrived; there was some chance of success in collectively attacking Ye Fan, as opposed to trying alone.
Facing Ye Fan, both Nami and these four people exuded cold killing intent and deep apprehension.
"You’ve arrived," Ye Fan’s gaze swept over the four women, speaking in a polite tone, "Is any of you considering surrender? If you do, you can live, think about it?"
"Are you daydreaming? Want us to surrender, are you joking?" One woman sneered, unable to hide her hostility.
"We’d rather be sliced to pieces than to collude with you. Forget about it," another woman shouted.
"Actually, you guys lurking in the dark has been quite troublesome for me. I hate trouble. If you surrender, you could live. Since that’s not the case, then I have no choice but to kill you," Ye Fan shook his head, feeling regretful, "It’s a pity, a few living souls about to become ghosts."
"You’re too arrogant. How strong can you be when there’s only one of you? The five of us, surrounding and attacking you, is non-negotiable," Nami jeered, earlier feeling worried before the four arrived.
With the four’s arrival, with their strongest effort, they planned to encircle and attack Ye Fan, naturally building some unfounded confidence.
No longer could Nami suppress her rising anger and killing intent, she directly erupted.
"You’re too arrogant, and too ignorant," Ye Fan lamented.
"You’re too overbearing, and too conceited," Nami retorted viciously.
