Chapter 111: The True War Begins
Turning his glowing purple eyes toward Albert and Ron, Nova smiled calmly as if he were speaking to two ordinary people rather than Emperor Realm powerhouses.
"I have a proposal for you two."
Ron and Albert exchanged glances. They were certain Nova’s aura had been at the Grandmaster Realm earlier, yet it had suddenly surged to the King Realm.
More importantly, if he was truly a Grandmaster, how in the world was he flying? And why was he so confident that he could propose something with his insignificant strength?
Even so, every powerhouse present was impressed by Nova’s talent. Achieving such strength at such a young age was nothing to scoff at.
As though they had accepted that this boy was simply crazy, the other King Realm experts remained silent since the Emperors had yet to speak.
Ron broke the silence.
"Do you not realize your situation, boy?"
Nova chuckled. He still didn’t know what exactly was going on. One moment he had been traveling peacefully, and the next he had found himself in the middle of a war between powerhouses far beyond his comprehension.
"I do... I know it very well," Nova replied confidently. "And that’s exactly why I want to propose something."
Albert narrowed his eyes.
"What makes you think someone as insignificant as you has the right to propose anything to an Emperor?"
Sure enough, the stronger a person became, the greater their pride and arrogance. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t even spare someone like Nova a glance.
But Nova was a peculiar case. He had displayed one strange ability after another, making it impossible for anyone to ignore him. Both armies wanted answers about him, and that was the only reason he was still alive.
"Aren’t you just a demon, ant?" Albert asked again.
"Hahaha!"
Nova burst into laughter as though Albert had just told the greatest joke in the world.
Seeing him laugh, many King Realm experts subconsciously gulped. This guy was either completely insane...
Or he had balls of steel.
Even Azren couldn’t help but smile slightly. For some reason, he liked this ant’s confidence. Nova stopped laughing and looked at Albert.
"Oh no, you’ve got it wrong. I’m a human... although I’ll admit I’m not a complete human. But as you already heard from that cultist fucker..." he said, pointing at Number 110, "I’m on humanity’s side."
Nova’s words confirmed everyone’s suspicions.
There had been cases where humans and demons had children, creating human-demon hybrids. There were also those who had survived being forcefully infused with demonic energy, although such cases were extremely rare.
However, all of them shared one thing in common. Human-demon hybrids were despised by both races.
Still, Nova’s words made one thing clear.
Despite whatever he was...The Slaughter Monarch stood on humanity’s side.
"Why do you think we would need your insignificant strength in a war of this scale?" Ron asked.
Nova’s expression turned serious. "You can decide that after I show you something."
Neither the human nor the demon experts made a move.
Both sides wanted to avoid an all-out war. Their overall strength was nearly equal, although the demons possessed far more lower-ranked troops than humanity.
More importantly, Azren and Voren wanted to avoid fighting unless absolutely necessary. They couldn’t risk anything happening to their lord’s heart.
Until Nova had appeared. He was about to become the spark that ignited everything.
Nova calmly hovered toward the demon army. Neither Azren nor Voren stopped him.
They, too, wanted to see what this strange young man was about to reveal.
Nova took a deep breath. Holding the pitch-black Rouve, which had transformed into a large, razor-sharp great sword, he assumed a stance as though he were about to unleash a sword strike.
He concentrated his demonic energy into the blade. This time, however, he mixed it with chaos energy. He had never attempted such a thing during the Beast Tide three years ago.
Back then, it would have killed him. But now, Nova had complete control over his demonic energy, a far greater understanding of chaos energy, and a body far stronger than it had been three years ago. Even so, this was still his first attempt.
Both energies surged through his sword and body. His already dreadful Demonic Dominion Aura became even more potent. The demons and demonic beasts shuddered in fear. Although Nova’s strength wasn’t that great, his Demonic Dominion Aura had already reached an astonishing level.
Even Demon Generals Azren and Voren felt goosebumps. For a brief moment, it felt as though they were standing before their lord. Such was the purity of the demonic energy Nova was releasing after it merged with his chaos energy.
Then, Nova shouted at the top of his lungs.
"INFERNAL DOMAIN: ENDLESS DEMONIC CHAOTIC SLASHES!"
"Haa!"
He swung Rouve with all his strength.
A massive black slash burst forth, crackling with demonic and chaotic energy. As it tore through the air, the surrounding space rippled and distorted, releasing a sharp screech as though the air itself was being torn apart.
In the next instant, the slash split into countless smaller slashes before raining down upon the demonic army.
BOOM!!
BOOM!!
BOOM!!
The slashes cut through Grandmaster demons and demonic beasts as if they were vegetables. Even peak Grandmasters met the same fate. Within seconds, thousands of demons were slaughtered and reduced to mangled corpses.
The scene stunned everyone on the battlefield.
Even the Emperor Realm experts were momentarily surprised.
Although the losses were significant, the demonic army still had countless lower-ranked soldiers to spare. Even so, the members of the Blood Moon Cult felt cold sweat run down their backs.
Such was the power of Nova, who had yet to reach the King Realm.
Even after unleashing an attack that should have exhausted every last drop of his energy, he remained standing as if nothing had happened.
On the battlefield below, Enzo and Ragnar instinctively gulped. The other human experts did the same.
Nova didn’t stop there. He extended his hand and spoke loudly.
Countless demons and demonic beasts that had just been killed slowly stood back up.
Their bodies transformed into swirling black shadows covered with glowing purple patterns, while their eyes shone with an eerie violet light.
The already terrifying demons and demonic beasts had become even more horrifying.
A part of the battlefield was instantly filled with the cries of the Deadborns as they howled, growled, and roared.
Seeing his Monarch’s new legion, Moonclaw let out a thunderous roar as if welcoming them.
ROAAAAARRR!!
Chimera and the Lich followed, roaring alongside Moonclaw.
Every King Realm expert and even the four Emperor Realm powerhouses were baffled by the sight.
They knew about Necromancers, but those people could only summon small armies of lower-ranked undead, mostly skeletons.
Nova, however, had done something completely different. The countless slaughtered demons had risen once again...
As his legion. Azren’s expression darkened.
He instantly understood that Nova’s threat level had risen dramatically. If Albert and Ron agreed to work with him, leaving this battlefield would become far more difficult.
More importantly, he could no longer allow Nova to live. Having witnessed Nova’s capabilities with his own eyes, he realized just how powerful he would become in the future. If left alive, Nova could grow into a formidable obstacle to their plans.
Azren disappeared from his position and charged straight toward Nova.
Nova didn’t even realize someone was coming to kill him until his Instinct Dominion detected it.
But it was already far too late.
BOOM!!
Nova instinctively closed his eyes,
expecting the attack to hit him. However... he never felt the impact, even after hearing the loud sound.
When he slowly opened his eyes, he saw Albert standing in front of him, having blocked Azren’s attack.
Albert pushed Azren back and spoke in a cold tone. "You can’t kill this boy. He is under our protection now."
Then he turned toward the human army and shouted,
"LISTEN, EVERYONE! KILL THESE DEMON BASTARDS AND SEIZE THE DEMON LORD RAZE’S HEART!"
His voice echoed throughout the battlefield.
"THE TRUE WAR HAS BEGUN!"
