Chapter 81: Two Yanderes
"GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
The voice was sharp. Deadly. Filled with pure, unbridled rage that shook the very air.
Lilith didn’t flinch. She tilted her head, her smile curling into something dark and amused.
"Oh," she said softly, her crimson eyes glinting. "That bitch has arrived."
The temperature dropped. The sky darkened. In the distance, a golden flame began to burn, bright, furious, and hungry.
Lucien turned slowly. His heart sank.
Seraphina stood a few meters away. Her golden hair was wild. Her golden eyes burned with fury. Her entire body radiated killing intent so intense that the air around her seemed to freeze.
"Seraphina," Lucien breathed, his voice weak.
Seraphina’s eyes flicked to him for a brief moment. Her expression softened slightly. Then it hardened again as she looked back at Lilith.
"You," Seraphina spat. "You again. Always lurking. Always crawling out of whatever hole you’ve been hiding in."
Lilith smiled sweetly, her fangs glinting. "And you’re still as pleasant as ever, dear sister. Did you miss me?"
"I missed the day you disappeared," Seraphina growled. "And I was hoping it would be permanent."
Lilith laughed. "You know I could never stay away from him. Not in that life. Not in this one. I searched for him. I found him. And now I’m here."
Seraphina’s aura flared. "Stay away from my husband."
"Husband?" Lilith tilted her head. "We weren’t married in our past life. None of us were. We were just friends. Sisters, even. But you always had to claim everything for yourself."
Seraphina’s fists clenched. "That was then. This is now. He’s mine."
Lilith stepped away from Lucien, her small hands clasped behind her back. She swayed gently like a child playing.
"Now," she said softly, "is a chance for a fresh start. A chance to claim what was always mine."
Seraphina’s aura exploded. The ground beneath her cracked. The air around her grew heavy with heat and fury.
"Over my dead body," she hissed.
Lilith’s smile widened. "That can be arranged."
The two women stood across from each other. One radiating fire and destruction. The other radiating cold and darkness.
And Lucien was caught in between them, too broken to move.
Seraphina’s eyes never left Lilith. "You were always a problem. Always lurking in the shadows, waiting to take what wasn’t yours."
Lilith chuckled. "What wasn’t mine? You mean him? We both loved him in our past life. We both wanted him. The only difference is, I never pretended to be anything else. You pretended to be cold. Untouchable. But I saw through it."
Seraphina’s flames flickered. "I wasn’t pretending."
"You were," Lilith said softly. "You were so afraid of losing him that you built walls around yourself. You pushed everyone away except him. You needed him like air, and you hated that. You hated being weak. You hated needing anyone."
Seraphina’s voice dropped. "And what about you? You killed for pleasure. You hunted for sport. You were a psychopath who enjoyed the hunt more than the kill."
Lilith’s smile didn’t waver. "Maybe. But I never pretended to be anything else. I knew what I was. And I knew what I wanted."
Her eyes flicked to Lucien, burning with hunger. "I wanted him. I still want him. And I don’t care who I have to destroy to keep him."
Seraphina stepped forward, her flames rising higher. "He’s mine. He’s always been mine. And I will kill anyone who tries to take him away."
Lilith tilted her head. "Then kill me, dear sister. If you can."
Sylas and the examiners appeared. They hadn’t heard the conversation, but what they saw was enough, two ladies at loggerheads, their killing intent so thick it could choke the air.
They had come to intervene, to protect Lilith since she was technically a participant. But the moment they sensed her aura, their jaws dropped.
She was even stronger than them.
Sylas stared. What was the fairness of this trial if someone like her was participating? This wasn’t an assessment anymore. This was a disaster waiting to happen.
Ryker, who they had dragged along because of his injuries, was confused. He had been caught in Seraphina’s killing intent, barely able to breathe. Now he was watching two terrifying women face off, and Lucien was on the ground between them, looking like his entire world had just shattered.
What the hell is happening?
When he glanced at Lucien, he saw it, the broken expression. The tears. The complete collapse of someone who had been so composed just moments ago.
"Oh, it seems you didn’t slack in cultivation, Seraphina," Lilith said, her tone cold and sharp.
"I would say the same to you," Seraphina replied, her voice dripping with possessiveness. "But for your information, Lucien is all mine."
Everyone watching finally realized, they were fighting over Lucien. Over ownership of him. Over who had the right to claim him.
They all glanced at the young man on the ground.
What does he have?
Such powerful, beautiful ladies were fighting over him. They had incredible status, terrifying strength, and yet they were both obsessed with him.
What they didn’t know was the hell and nightmare Lucien had entered because of them.
Sylas cleared his throat, trying to regain some control. "Ladies, this is..."
"Silence," both Seraphina and Lilith said at the same time.
Sylas shut his mouth. He had no power here. He was just a spectator in a battle he couldn’t hope to influence.
Seraphina turned back to Lilith, her golden eyes burning. "You should have stayed dead."
Lilith’s smile was sharp. "I could say the same to you."
The air between them crackled with tension. Heat and shadow clashed. Fire and darkness swirled.
And Lucien, still on his knees, watched it all unfold.
Why me? he thought. Why is this my fate?
