Chapter 91: Soothing The Wild Cat I
Amidst the tension, Ayra gently clenched her fists together as she stared up at the wild cat ahead, slowly approaching it while taking steady breaths.
[Ding!]
[Pheromones activated]
[Host, get closer to the wild cat to lure it with your scent to get started]
Ayra listened to the system as she slowly approached. While the other beastmen stood at the sides watching as she made her way closer to the cat, the wild cat itself slowly laid its crimson eyes on her.
Those unfriendly eyes studying her while she pulled closer. The cat was definitely ready to tear apart this unfamiliar figure approaching.
And Lord Ash and Commander Lynn were standing behind her, ready to act out in case anything happened.
Ayra had gotten closer to the wild cat as her pheromones filled the atmosphere. Gentle, dynamic floral pheromones filled the atmosphere as she pulled closer to the cat.
The cat growled for an attack but the scent immediately struck its nose. The wild cat paused, its growl softening as the scent lingered around its nose, holding its nostrils at surrender.
While Ayra pulled closer, the scent expanded, covering the scenery enough for the other beastmen to perceive it. They stood there captivated by the scent as the female got closer to the wild cat that had already stiffened from the scent.
The wild cat didn’t move. It stood there with its ferocious eyes softening as Ayra’s floral scented pheromones captured its nose. Her scent was working its way into the cat and instantly calming it down. The wild cat was slowly calming its breath while it had its eyes glued to Ayra who was now close enough to touch it.
Ayra stared right into the cat’s eyes. Slowly and gently taking every step, making sure the rhythm wasn’t broken. She had to maintain the tempo so she doesn’t lose the cat’s attention and doesn’t disrupt the work at hand.
So she pulled closer until she was standing right before the wild cat that stared down at the female, confused, as her scent worked its way into it.
At that moment, Ayra, staring right into its eyes, smiled back at the confused cat. A warm and gentle smile enough to make the cat feel safe.
And the cat did. The wild cat felt a rush of reassurance rush through it as it slowly leaned down its eyes to get a closer look and sniff at this female—to get closer to this calming aura.
Ayra smiled while her eyes locked to the cat. Gentle smiles as she let her eyes search this cat’s troubled gaze.
It was scared. It was confused, it was defensive. This wild cat was anything but calm. And even while staring at Ayra, this cat was still struggling to search for something...
Ayra still held onto the smile as her pheromones kept working their way into the cat. And as the cat leaned its head down closer, Ayra slowly brought up her hands to feel the cat.
[Ding]
[Wild Cat’s berserk level dropped from 99% to 98%]
[Host needs to say kind words and touch the wild cat to enhance the soothing...]
Ayra blinked. The hell?! Nothing at all!
She kept calm as she smiled at the wild cat. Gently bringing up her hand to feel the cat’s face which it was bringing down to her level.
It came down slowly and Ayra’s hand moved up slowly. Tension filling the atmosphere as the two slowly came together...
The beastmen stood there staring in intense curiosity, wondering what she was going to do. And if she was going to be able to soothe the wild cat.
For the fact that the female was able to make the wild cat this calm was already shocking to them. The tribe leaders and Commander Lynn stood there at the distance, staring at the scene while preparing themselves to protect the female in case anything happened.
"It’s okay..." Ayra gently smiled as her hands drew closer. "It’s okay..." She stared deep into the cat’s eyes with the hopes of bringing more comfort to it.
But it backfired.
As their eyes locked in longer, the cat suddenly saw through Ayra. And what the cat saw was the memories of being tortured by the female herself.
The wild cat recalled this villainess and all she did to him while he was in hostage. The wild cat had found what had kept him feeling uneasy about the female. And the discovery instantly broke the soothing session.
It disrupted the wild cat’s calmness as its eyes instantly sparked with the flames of fury while it let out a violent growl. The cat snapped as it charged with its sharp claws for an attack.
Ayra gasped as she stepped backwards. But she had reacted too slow to escape this wild cat.
The tribe leaders and Commander Lynn had all seen it as they approached for protection. But Lord Zark was the fastest and sharpest amongst them all, the one who had instantly dived into the scene without a second thought of his injury.
He grabbed Ayra by the waist and pulled her out of the scene as the wild cat’s claws scratched deep into his skin at the back, adding to his already bruised and bleeding body.
Lord Zark held Ayra firmly amidst the pain, wrapping his arms around her in a hug while he pulled out of the scene with her.
The snake had slid through the ground, wrapping itself around the wild cat and holding it firmly. Even though Vale was already weak and injured, it held the cat firmly after surrounding it, holding it down while the other beastmen acted fast.
They threw ropes at the cat, struggling to hold onto the cat’s head and body parts.
Ayra gasped from the instant shock as she fell to the ground with Zark. She immediately turned to Zark who was bleeding profusely from the injury. "You.. are you okay...?"
She was shocked that the cold dragon was literally the first and sharpest one to dive in and save her at the expense of gathering more injuries onto himself.
