Chapter 704: Something’s Amiss
Judith Pierce’s tone turned serious. "Don’t talk nonsense. Your eyes will get better."
"Mom."
Walker Grant’s tone grew even colder. "I don’t like you bringing this up. If you’re going to keep talking about it, you should just go back to the rescue team. They need you more over there."
Judith Pierce pressed her lips together, watching Walker Grant. Even though he was blind now, his aura was still sharp and imposing.
Once he made a decision, he rarely went back on it.
She lowered her gaze slightly, her clenched fist relaxing. ’I was too hasty.’
Chloe Reed had told her that once Walker Grant’s eyes recovered, she would leave, regardless of whether he agreed to a divorce.
She would face the dangers surrounding her on her own. She wouldn’t drag Walker Grant into it again.
"I was just asking casually, don’t take it so seriously." Judith Pierce quickly forced a smile. "Besides, something like this really needs both parties to be willing. Even if you agreed, Fiona might not."
Walker Grant didn’t say anything more. He turned to face Chloe Reed and said, "Chloe, I want some lotus root."
"Mom will get it for you." Judith Pierce immediately picked up her chopsticks to get him the food.
But he dodged, keeping his face turned in Chloe Reed’s direction.
His keen senses told him who was trying to put food in his bowl.
Judith Pierce’s chopsticks hovered in midair.
Chloe Reed kept her eyes downcast, trying her best to minimize her presence. Seeing the situation, she blinked, then reached out, took Judith Pierce’s hand, and guided it toward Walker Grant’s bowl.
But Walker Grant dodged again. His tone held a hint of resentment as he asked, "Chloe?"
Judith Pierce struggled to keep her voice steady. "It *is* her giving it to you."
"The direction is wrong."
Walker Grant’s voice was low as he said, "Are you two bullying me just because I can’t see?"
As soon as he said that, Judith Pierce quickly pulled her hand back and looked at Chloe Reed, gesturing with her eyes for her to get him the food.
His words were like a knife to the heart for anyone who heard them. It was incredibly upsetting.
Chloe Reed got him the food. This time, he didn’t move away. A slight smile touched his thin lips as he said, "Thank you."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She felt a little numb.
The atmosphere during the rest of dinner was frozen.
Fiona Linton returned, patting her belly, and grabbed Chloe Reed’s arm enthusiastically. "Chloe, that malatang place I went to was amazing! I’ll take you there tomorrow, okay?"
Walker Grant’s gloomy voice drifted over. "You yourself said we need to avoid spicy food right now."
Fiona Linton blinked. "Oh... that’s a real shame. Well, how about we go together next time I’m here?"
"Okay."
Chloe Reed nodded.
Fiona Linton went to wash her hands. When she came back, she gave them both acupuncture. The two of them were lying on their respective hospital beds.
Fiona Linton treated Chloe Reed first. Once the needles were in, she couldn’t move around.
When she started on Walker Grant, he suddenly shifted to the side.
Fiona Linton asked in confusion, "What are you doing?"
Walker Grant said, "It’s more comfortable lying like this."
Fiona Linton looked at him lying right on the edge of the bed and clicked her tongue. "You have some really strange preferences."
Then, she began inserting the needles.
As the first needle pierced an acupoint, Walker Grant suddenly reached out and grabbed Chloe Reed’s hand.
"Chloe, it hurts."
Just as she was about to struggle, he spoke at the perfect moment, his voice a little strained and hoarse.
"Are you kidding me? My acupuncture doesn’t hurt at all, okay? Don’t you dare play the victim here to get sympathy!" Hearing this, Fiona Linton completely lost it.
’Is he trying to ruin my reputation?’
’After all my years of practice, a patient can still feel pain during my acupuncture?’
’That’s like smashing my own professional sign. I absolutely cannot tolerate this!’
