Chapter 720: What Flavor of Candy?

He thought it would be a repeat of what happened at the hospital, but he was overthinking things.

Chloe Reed took his hand and guided him, letting him feel each object one by one. After he touched something, she would write in his palm.

She traced the words for "shower control" into his palm.

Then, "body wash."

"Shampoo."

"Bath towel."

She led him slowly around the bathroom, making sure he knew exactly where every item was placed.

Walker Grant’s throat felt dry. He finally asked, "Aren’t you going to help me?"

Chloe Reed continued to write in his palm: ’Your injury hadn’t healed before, so I had to keep an eye on you.’

’The implication was clear: now that his injury was better, why would she still need to help?’

’Wouldn’t that just be asking for trouble?’

’What would she do if things got out of hand again?’

’Their situation would just become even more complicated and awkward.’

When he didn’t react, Chloe Reed let go of his hand. She took out her phone and typed, ’I’m going to shower in the guest room. I’m so tired today.’

Walker Grant’s thin lips moved, but he waited until he heard her footsteps fading away before he spoke. "I’ll wait for you to come back and apply my medicine."

"Mm."

"..."

When Chloe Reed returned, Walker Grant was sitting on the edge of the bed in a bathrobe, his short hair dripping wet.

Droplets of water trickled from his hair and rolled down his handsome face. With his eyes closed and his back slightly hunched, he looked as dejected as a large dog abandoned by the roadside.

He was a pitiful sight.

Chloe Reed typed out a question in confusion. ’Why didn’t you dry your hair?’

Walker Grant said sullenly, "I couldn’t find the hair dryer."

Chloe Reed pressed her lips together slightly, then walked over, opened a drawer, and took out the hair dryer. She stood in front of him and began to dry his hair.

With a steady WHIRRING, warm air flowed through her fingers and onto his hair.

Her faint, sweet scent drifted to him, lingering at the tip of his nose. It teased his senses, making him addicted, making him want more.

He reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist. His arm muscles tightened slightly, but he didn’t dare to hold her too tightly.

Chloe Reed’s body went rigid, and she pressed her lips together.

His short hair dried quickly. She turned off the dryer and patted his arm, signaling for him to let go.

Walker Grant reluctantly released her.

After putting the hair dryer away, Chloe Reed opened the first-aid kit to apply his medicine.

White gauze was wrapped, layer by layer, around his eyes, obscuring the upper half of his handsome face.

She tore a piece of medical tape and secured the gauze. Once it was in place, she let out a soft sigh.

She turned off the light and got into bed. They lay on their respective sides, and in the darkness, the sounds of their breathing and heartbeats gradually settled.

The person beside her stirred. Walker Grant turned onto his side and began to inch closer to her.

Chloe Reed reached out and pressed her hand against his shoulder, stopping his advance.

"Chloe."

Walker Grant stopped moving, but his voice, tinged with hoarseness and melancholy, drifted through the darkness.

Chloe Reed’s eyelashes fluttered. She rolled over, turning her back to him.

She reached for her phone, but he seized the opportunity to close the distance, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her body tightly against his.

His hot breath fanned across her skin. The different scents of their body washes mingled in the air between them.

"I just had a piece of candy," Walker Grant said in a low voice. "What flavor did Grandma give you? I think mine is lychee."

Chloe Reed reached for her phone again, the screen already lit, but he rolled on top of her. His nose brushed against her cheek as he seemed to search for her lips.
