Chapter 702: Neither Human Nor Ghost

Inside the bungalow, the pungent smell of medicine and decay filled the air. Judith took out a handkerchief, immediately covering her nose and mouth. She rounded a doorway and saw a person lying facedown on the bed, screaming hoarsely.

"Help... help me!"

Hearing someone enter, her shouts stopped. She struggled to lift her head and look over. When she saw Judith, she immediately reached out to her.

"Save me, Mom, save me!"

Judith, however, took a step back in horror.

The person before her could no longer be called human.

Sunny Reed was still in her hospital gown, though it was now covered in filth and blood. Her hair was a tangled mess, and one of her eyes was a mangled, bloody ruin, with tears of blood constantly streaming down. She was nothing but skin and bones, a ghastly creature that was neither human nor ghost.

Daniel Hayes said, "She tried to poison Chloe and Walker, so I used the same poison on her. I didn’t think it would only destroy one of her eyes. Tsk. Looks like the dosage still isn’t right."

"Mom, please save me. I’m in so much pain. Mom, I’m begging you, please save me! I don’t want to stay here anymore. I’ll go abroad. I’ll leave this place and never come back. Please, I’m begging you, just let me go..."

Sunny’s voice was raspy as she pleaded incessantly. Her legs were useless now, too. Walker had said he wanted her to experience the same pain as Noah.

Now that Noah could no longer stand, she, his mother, naturally didn’t need to stand either.

Judith’s initial horror quickly subsided. She looked at Sunny and suddenly thought, ’This torture is nowhere near enough!’

"Tell me, why did you poison Noah?" Judith asked coldly.

Sunny kept shaking her head. "I didn’t! I didn’t poison Noah! Noah is my son, how could I possibly poison him? Someone is trying to frame me."

"It was Chloe Reed! That bitch must be the one who framed me!" It was as if Sunny had found an outlet for her hysteria, and she began to shriek, "It was that bitch Chloe Reed who poisoned Noah! She always hated Noah because he took all of Walker’s attention. She resented Noah, so she’s the one who poisoned him! Yes, that has to be it!"

Daniel Hayes’s expression darkened. "She’s gone completely insane."

Judith, of course, didn’t believe a word Sunny said. Besides, Walker would never allow anyone who harmed Noah to live unscathed.

She stated bluntly, "If she’s insane, then don’t keep her here. Send her straight to a mental hospital."

There, Sunny would truly learn what it means to be unable to live, yet unable to die.

"No!"

Hearing this, Sunny shrieked and scrambled desperately toward Judith, trying to grab her.

"You can’t do this to me! I’m a great benefactor to the Grant family! I gave birth to Julian’s child! Wasn’t Julian your favorite? I am his wife! You can’t treat me this way! If he knew about this, he’d never forgive you!"

Judith’s expression was grim. "I only wish he could come and hold me accountable!"

How wonderful it would be if Julian could come back to life.

But that, unfortunately, was just a fantasy.

Judith closed her eyes in anguish. "Don’t let her die easily," she said. "She must spend the rest of her life atoning for her sins!"

Daniel Hayes chuckled. "Like mother, like son. You two say the exact same things."

Judith turned away, a wave of regret washing over her. She had actually wavered once, wanting to match Walker with this vicious woman. ’How could I have been so foolish!’
