Chapter 357 - 355: Father and Son Meet (2)
After trying a slice of meat, he gave a slight nod.
Delicious.
As a connoisseur of food, he gave his approval. "Rich and fragrant without being greasy. The broth is excellent."
Nana Warren was delighted. "If you like it, eat more! I made a split pot—one side spicy, the other a clear broth. I simmered this clear broth with the Demonic Beast bones you brought back from The Cultivation World, Young Master. The flavor is out of this world. You can drink a little first to warm your stomach. Besides, you’re still growing, Young Master, so you need to eat plenty of meat."
Just as she was speaking.
Celeste Grant’s voice drifted down from upstairs.
"What smells so good?"
At the sound of her voice, the two people downstairs snapped their gazes toward the top of the stairs.
’Wow, wow, wow!’ Leo screamed internally. ’Hiss... The boss’s husband is unbelievably handsome. Standing next to our fair-skinned, beautiful Young Lady, they’re truly a perfect match.’ She glanced over at Aaron Sinclair, then silently picked up a piece of meat and ate it to calm her nerves.
’After getting used to this family’s divine looks, everyone else seemed plain and unremarkable to her. Only a couple with the peerless beauty of her Young Lady and the boss’s husband could produce a son as handsome as the Young Master.’
She took a napkin to wipe her mouth, then stood up and pulled out their chairs. "Young Lady, Sir, you’re awake! Just in time for dinner. I figured since you just got back, Sir, you two would have a lot to talk about, so I didn’t want to disturb you."
Her boss was the Young Lady.
And the "boss’s husband"? That would be the Young Lady’s husband.
Celeste Grant glanced at Leo, knowing at once that this "Goldie" must have her mind in the gutter.
"Great, looks like we’re in for a treat."
Aaron Sinclair stood up, his eyes fixed on the person who had just appeared. He froze for a second before a wide smile spread across his face, and he called out, "Dad!" Overjoyed, he quickly added, "Dad, you’re finally back! Oh, right, people in this world say ’Papa’ instead of ’Dad’. Should I switch to that to fit in? Nah, I’ll stick with ’Dad.’ I’m used to it."
’Calling him ’Papa’ just felt weird.’
At the top of the stairs, Celeste Grant turned to the man beside her. Taking his hand, she looked downstairs and gestured toward the boy. "The one calling for you is our son," she said. "See? Doesn’t he look just like you?"
Her gaze met her son’s smiling face. "Mother, now that Dad’s back, you can finally relax." He had seen his mother standing on the rooftop late at night, gazing into the distance, on several occasions. He knew she had been worried about his father.
Celeste Grant smiled.
"Mm."
’All that mattered was that their family was together again.’
Javier Sinclair stood quietly. When the boy downstairs called him "Dad," a strange feeling bloomed in his chest. It was an indescribable emotion. He was sure he had never met this boy before, yet now, seeing him, he felt not just happiness, but a profound sense of peace. It was as if this was his son, no proof required.
However, when his gaze fell upon Aaron Sinclair, his expression grew complicated.
’After being alone for over ten thousand years, I’ve suddenly scored a wife and son.’
’It really felt like a pie had fallen from the sky. They were just handed to me, free of charge.’
’So this was his ready-made son. He really did look like him—the resemblance was at least an eight out of ten. With just a single glance, Javier Sinclair felt the resonance in their bloodline. This was, without a doubt, his biological son.’
’So what exactly is the connection between this woman’s ex-husband and me?’
The pair walked downstairs.
Aaron Sinclair, who had already stood up, walked over to them.
As soon as they reached the bottom of the stairs, he went right up and hugged his father. "Dad, welcome home."
He hugged him, then patted his back. Sometimes, words weren’t necessary between a father and son. They shared a bond that no one else could penetrate.
Aaron Sinclair had been raised by his father since he was a child, so he felt very close to Javier Sinclair.
After the hug, Aaron Sinclair made sure to add, "Dad, it’s me, your son, Aaron Sinclair. Do you remember? You’re the one who gave me my name."
’Suddenly gaining a son out of thin air... this instant fatherhood was a complete surprise. And yet, the feeling wasn’t unfamiliar. In fact, it was surprisingly good.’
’If anyone else had dared to get that close, he would have kicked them away without a second thought. But this boy felt so close, so familiar. A paternal feeling swelled in his heart—the instinct to cherish his own child.’
He raised his hand and stroked the boy’s head.
"You are my son."
Aaron Sinclair grunted in affirmation. "The genuine article, guaranteed." He gave his father another quick hug before letting go, then looked him up and down. "It’s just good to have you back. Mom’s been waiting for you every single day."
Aaron said happily, "Dad, you seem even stronger now, but other than that, you haven’t changed a bit."
He took two steps back so the two of them, father and son, could speak face to face.
Javier Sinclair, standing before him, let his gaze rest on the boy’s face and murmured,
"Aaron Sinclair."
’The name felt very familiar.’
’It was as if he himself had chosen it. Not only that, but an image flashed through his mind: a man standing in a study, writing down a name. That man was him.’
’No, no, that couldn’t have been me.’
’It must have been the other Javier Sinclair.’
’A pang of bitterness hit him at the thought.’
’That other Javier Sinclair was pretty damn lucky, having such a beautiful, fair-skinned wife and a son this old.’
’The thought made him feel a fresh wave of jealousy.’
’This is Celeste’s son with her ex-husband. It’s fine, it’s fine. So what if the ex-husband is dead? From now on, *I’ll* be this kid’s father. He’s my son now, that’s for sure.’
’With that thought, everything felt right again.’
Javier Sinclair was trapped in a paradox: ’I’m not him, and yet I am.’
At this thought, he reached out and patted the boy’s shoulder. "Don’t worry. From now on, you’re my son. Your mother is my Taoist Companion now. I will not mistreat you."
Aaron Sinclair: "..."
Aaron Sinclair glanced at his mother, then back at his father.
’That sounded... weird.’
’Am I not his real son?’
"Heh!" Celeste Grant offered a helpless chuckle. Her expression clearly said, "Just humor him. Your dad’s a bit confused right now."
He glanced at his father, smiled, and said, "Right. From now on, I’m your real son, Dad."
’Mom did say...’
’...that Dad’s brain was a little scrambled.’
’I have to be patient with him.’
Javier Sinclair nodded slightly.
"Mm."
He stretched out his hand.
And tossed a Storage Ring to him.
"Take it. Buy whatever you want."
He caught the Storage Ring.
He peered inside.
’Holy cow.’
’Did his dad rob a celestial vault or something? There were countless treasures and rare cultivation materials piled up like mountains.’
"Hehehe, Dad, come have a seat over here."
"Dad, are your shoulders sore? Want me to give them a rub?"
Javier Sinclair glanced at him.
"That won’t be necessary."
Leo pulled out their chairs and said, "Young Lady, Sir, please sit."
Celeste Grant took his hand. "Come on, let’s go eat. You have to try our Leo’s cooking."
"Mm. It’s been a while."
’Wait.’
’Why would I say it’s been a while?’
’I’ve never had this before.’
’What even is hot pot?’
