Chapter 408 - 407: The Immortal Domain - Begins
She cupped his face.
’This is definitely a moment for a kiss.’
At this thought, she smiled faintly and leaned in for a quick peck on his lips. But just as she started to pull away, his arm tightened around her waist, drawing her close and capturing her mouth with his.
His breath grew hot.
The two embraced.
In the heat of the moment,
she reached out and pushed him down onto the bed.
Celeste Grant straddled his lap.
She reached up and pulled out her hairpin, letting her long hair cascade over her body.
Then, she gave a soft smile, her face tender as she called out to him.
"Husband."
He hummed in response.
Celeste Grant placed her fingers gently on his chest and whispered, "You’ll cherish me tonight, won’t you?"
Javier Sinclair’s pupils constricted, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. He lifted a hand to her slender waist. "I will always cherish you."
The next moment,
Celeste Grant felt a sudden tightening at her waist as he flipped her over, pinning her beneath him. Her silken hair fanned out across the pillow.
As she looked up, she saw his sharp jawline and unfairly handsome face. His gaze was fixed on her, and his dark, deep-set eyes reflected her own blushing cheeks.
He reached down, sliding his hand under her neck to gently lift her head. As he did, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. Celeste Grant could feel the fierce urgency in his kiss, as if he wanted to meld her into his very being.
Celeste Grant closed her eyes and kissed him back.
The bed curtains slowly drifted shut, obscuring the couple’s embrace.
The night was still young.
A gentle breeze wafted through the open window, carrying a few flower petals that drifted to the floor...
「The next morning.」
When Celeste Grant woke up, the space beside her was empty; Javier Sinclair was gone.
She sat up in bed.
The room was quiet, and the space within the canopy bed was dim. With a light wave of her hand, she used Magic to sweep the curtains open and hook them back. The room instantly brightened.
She turned her head slightly to look around the room.
The bedchamber was spacious. Near the window, a few flower petals still lay on the floor.
"He’s already gone."
As soon as the words left her mouth,
a familiar voice sounded in her ear.
It was a message he had left before departing, sealed with Magic. Celeste Grant’s speaking had triggered the Forbidden Spell, allowing her to hear his words.
"My lady, you’re awake. By the time you hear this, I’ll already be gone. I saw you sleeping this morning and couldn’t bear to wake you."
"Take care of yourself while I’m away. Oh, and I left something for you by your pillow. It’s a Divine Artifact I came across by chance. A gift for you, for protection. Finally... wait for my return."
As the voice faded, the room fell completely silent.
Celeste Grant lowered her head and smiled faintly.
"Okay."
"Come back soon."
Even though he was already gone, Celeste Grant still replied to his message.
She turned her head, her gaze falling upon the pillow beside her. There sat a round Ancient Mirror. A golden tassel, fastened with a jade ring clasp, hung from its base.
A single glance revealed an ancient, powerful aura emanating from it. Even if she wasn’t an expert, she could tell it was something extraordinary. She picked it up and examined it.
"This is a Divine Artifact?"
"I wonder what this Ancient Mirror does."
’Anything considered a Divine Artifact is bound to be incredibly powerful. So, what can this do?’
At first glance, the Ancient Mirror didn’t reflect anything. She gently brushed her fingers over its surface, and the mirror’s edge spun a full circle. In the next instant, the Ancient Mirror lit up, flew from her palm, and hovered in mid-air.
Simultaneously, a Barrier formed around her. ’Is this for defense?’ At that thought, she gathered her Cultivation and sent a wave of power crashing against the Barrier. It vanished without a trace, like a stone sinking into the ocean, not even causing a single ripple.
She raised her hand.
"This Ancient Mirror’s defensive power is incredible." She felt insignificant before such strength. ’With this Divine Artifact, I could be invincible.’ She had a feeling that the stronger her own power grew, the more potent the mirror would become.
Just as Celeste Grant was thinking the Ancient Mirror was merely a Defense Treasure, it suddenly grew two sizes larger right in front of her. At the same time, a clear image appeared on its surface.
She craned her neck slightly, her eyes fixed on the image in the mirror. At first, a massive, ancient tree appeared. Then, the view panned down. Below the tree, steam swirled around a hot spring.
A man stood in the hot spring, his back to her. He was tall and slender, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The water reached his waistline, and his long, ink-black hair was draped over his shoulders, its ends trailing in the water.
Droplets of water trickled down his strong back.
Celeste Grant’s eyes were glued to the sight.
’Th-this...’
’My goodness, what a sight to wake up to.’
’Is this some kind of fan service Chapter? I just woke up and I’m already seeing a gorgeous man.’
’Too bad I can only see his back.’
’Turn around!’
’Is there anything an esteemed VIP member like me isn’t allowed to see?’
Even though the man in the Ancient Mirror had his back to her, Celeste Grant recognized him in an instant from his build, his waistline, and his arms. It was Javier Sinclair.
Suddenly, the man in the mirror seemed to sense something.
With a wave of his hand, water splashed up, and in that instant, his clothes were on. The image before her vanished, leaving only a void.
"Huh?"
Seeing the image was gone, Celeste Grant called out, thinking the Ancient Mirror was a way to contact Javier Sinclair. She couldn’t help but add, "Hey... why’d you cut the feed? It’s not like I haven’t seen it all before."
There was no response from the other side of the mirror.
She held out her hand.
The Ancient Mirror shrank and floated back into her palm. Its surface was still glowing, but the image remained a void, like a single cloud drifting in a washed-out sky.
Celeste Grant shook the Ancient Mirror in her hand. "Hello? Why aren’t you talking? Can you hear me?"
"Are you there?"
"Javier Sinclair, it’s me, your wife! Can you hear me?"
’Don’t tell me he’s embarrassed because I saw him? No way, that can’t be it!’
After a moment, a line of text appeared in the Ancient Mirror.
[What is a wife?]
Celeste Grant stared blankly at the line of text, completely baffled.
’He obviously heard me, but what does this message mean? Asking me what a wife is? We’ve been together for so long. Both the old Javier Sinclair and the current Javier Sinclair know what a wife is.’
’He doesn’t know?’
"You don’t know?"
As she spoke, the words on the Ancient Mirror vanished and were replaced by a new line of text.
[Am I supposed to know something?]
Celeste Grant: "..."
’I’d like to know that, too.’
’Is this a joke?’
’You have to be kidding me, you jerk.’
Seeing this line of text in the Ancient Mirror, Celeste Grant rubbed her temples, a headache brewing. "Is this for real?" she said aloud. "Javier Sinclair, don’t tell me you went to the Demonic Domain and forgot me again. This joke isn’t funny in the slightest. If you dare say you forgot, I swear I’ll come through this mirror and bite you!"
