Easton Holmes stood in place, watching Athena Linton, waiting for her to speak to him. He had already guessed what she wanted to say, he just didn’t want to say it directly. He was waiting for her to take the initiative to tell him.
Athena Linton tilted her head, glancing at the others who had already left the dining room. Seeing they had walked far, she turned her gaze back to Easton Holmes, "Yes! There’s something I want to discuss, but I want to talk to you alone about it."
Her meaning was clear; she didn’t want anyone else to know about this matter.
"Right now, it’s just the two of us here." Easton Holmes slowly turned his body but didn’t move closer. He stood still, seeking Athena Linton’s opinion, "Do you want to talk here? Or shall we find another place to talk?"
If he wasn’t very sure before, now he was a hundred percent sure. She was going to talk to him about her and Thomas Fisher.
Athena Linton glanced at Auntie Li, who was waiting at the dining room door, and made a prompt decision, "Let’s go to your study to talk."
As she spoke, she started walking toward the dining room door.
Seeing this, Easton Holmes immediately followed. Seeing the siblings coming out one after the other, Lily Turner instinctively stopped, waiting for the siblings as they walked in her direction.
"Honey! You go ahead and stay by yourself for a while. Athena and I are going upstairs to talk." Before Lily Turner could ask, Easton Holmes proactively reported his next steps, winking at her as he did so. She instantly understood what was going on.
"Oh, you two go ahead and talk. I’ll go find Mom and the kids." Lily Turner waved at her husband and sister-in-law, then walked briskly to the house door.
Seeing his wife had walked away, Easton Holmes headed upstairs first. Athena Linton, with something on her mind, didn’t pause for a moment and quickly followed.
"Brother! Can you help me talk to Thomas and let me continue being his secretary?" As soon as she walked into the study, Athena Linton couldn’t wait to speak, blurting out what she most wanted to say.
Easton Holmes replied with a question, "Aren’t you already his secretary?"
To prevent his sister from noticing anything unusual, he feigned a surprised expression.
"A while ago, Thomas transferred me to the customer service department." At this moment, all Athena Linton could think about was returning to Thomas Fisher’s side; she had no interest in anything else, "I don’t want to work in the customer service department. I want to continue being Thomas’s secretary."
She stated her request again, more firmly and decisively than before.
Easton Holmes sighed softly, replying with the same firmness and decisiveness, "I can’t agree to such a request."
His good friend had a hard time transferring her away from his side, how could he make such a request of his good friend?
"Why? Why can’t you agree to my request?" Hearing Easton Holmes deny her request, Athena Linton became anxious, grabbing his sleeve and looking up at him, demanding an answer.
Easton Holmes glanced at the hand holding his sleeve, then looked up to the owner of that hand, speaking slowly, "Why should I agree to you?"
He looked down at her, his gaze carrying a hint of displeasure.
"Because you’re my brother." Hearing her brother’s retort, Athena Linton blurted out.
Easton Holmes gently pulled away the hand holding his sleeve, stepping back discreetly, "I am your brother, true, but I can’t let you act recklessly."
