Chapter 1429: Going Home 1
After hanging up, Alice Turner immediately got out of bed and went to the bathroom. She took a shower as fast as she could and tidied herself up neatly before picking up her own bag and the gifts she had brought for her family and walking out of the room.
Just as she was closing the door to leave, she suddenly stared blankly at the door of the room opposite.
"Miss Qiao! Are you heading out?"
Hearing someone speak to her, Alice snapped back to her senses. She smiled at the waiter who had spoken to her. "Mm, going out for a bit."
After greeting the waiter who passed by her, she strode toward the room next to hers.
Ding-dong! Ding-dong! Ding-dong!
When she reached Anthony’s door, Alice didn’t hesitate for a second and raised her hand to press the doorbell.
"Sis! You finally came out."
Anthony opened the door right away, as if he already knew it would be Alice. He already had his phone in hand when he opened the door.
Alice smiled silently, took Anthony by the arm, and left the hotel with him. After leaving the hotel, she didn’t take him straight back to her home.
She dragged him out for breakfast first, and only then did they hail a cab and head toward the home she hadn’t set foot in for five years.
As the streets and scenery outside grew more and more familiar, Alice’s heart started pounding wildly. Her hand clutching her bag unconsciously tightened, her nerves grew especially taut, and she looked incredibly anxious and on edge.
"Sis! Are you okay?" Sitting right next to Alice, Anthony noticed her unusual reaction immediately. He tugged at her sleeve and looked at her with some concern.
Alice pulled her gaze back from the car window and slowly turned to the person beside her. Seeing the worry on his face, she gave him a reassuring smile. "I’m fine."
What could possibly happen just from going home? She had only been away for five years. She was just a bit nervous about suddenly having to see her family again.
"Oh." Anthony really wanted to believe that Alice was fine, but her expression made it hard for him to feel at ease. Still, for now, he could only choose to believe her.
"Sis! Do you think those three adorable little nieces and nephews of yours will be at home?" He deliberately changed the subject to distract her, hoping to help ease the tension he saw in her.
Alice really wanted to see the little nieces and nephews she had never met before, but she hadn’t contacted anyone in her family before coming back. Her younger sister didn’t even know she was returning, so how could she be at home waiting?
Still, she believed her parents would tell her sister right away. She would see her sister and those three little ones very soon.
"Don’t worry, you’ll definitely get to see those three little cuties." Seeing them was a sure thing; it was just a matter of time.
"That’s great! I can’t wai—"
Just thinking about how he was about to meet the three little cuties had Anthony all excited and overjoyed. But in the midst of his excitement, he suddenly realized a serious problem. He turned sideways toward Alice and scooted closer. "Sis! I think we forgot to buy toys for the three little cuties."
It was their first time meeting the kids; they couldn’t just show up empty-handed.
Only when Anthony reminded her did Alice suddenly realize that the gifts she’d bought were only for her parents, her younger sister, and her nephew. She hadn’t prepared anything for the two little nieces.
It wasn’t that she had forgotten; when she was preparing the gifts, she simply didn’t know she had two little nieces.
