Chapter 164: Library Of Life
Jacob stared at the notification on his screen, he had never been given a reward for completing a sign-in on any other day before.
So this was a little strange, but also exciting because was not a skill, and it was also not an artifact, it was something outside of his omniscience, so he desperately yearned to know what it was.
He stood in the middle of tall trees, the smell of fog slowly seeping into his nostrils as the morning sun shone down on his skin.
His hair was longer as he hadn’t cut it for a while, the Royal barbers had suggested they cut his hair but he liked the length a little bit and didn’t wish to touch it.
’Library of Life huh? Give me a description.’ He mused, and the system instantly pulled up a very length description.
Description:
The Library of Life is not merely a library—it is a living archive that transcends the boundaries of time, space, memory, and possibility.
Created from the collective essence of existence itself, the Library records the journey of every living being, every forgotten civilization, every battle, invention, discovery, emotion, and decision that has ever influenced the flow of life. It is an ever-expanding dimension that continuously grows as new experiences are created throughout the universe.
Upon entering the Library, the Host will find an endless expanse of towering bookshelves stretching beyond the horizon, illuminated by an eternal golden sky devoid of any visible sun. Rivers of glowing knowledge flow between the shelves, while floating staircases connect countless floors that seem to exist simultaneously. Every book possesses a heartbeat of its own, responding only to those deemed worthy to read its contents.
No two visitors perceive the Library the same way.
To one, it may appear as a grand royal archive.
To another, an ancient cathedral of wisdom.
To the Host, it will always manifest in the form most suitable for maximizing comprehension and growth.
The Library exists outside the normal flow of time. A single minute in reality may equate to hours, days, or even months of uninterrupted study within its halls.
Knowledge cannot be stolen.
Every page is protected by the Laws of Life. Information beyond the Host’s current capacity will remain blank, sealed, or incomprehensible until the necessary qualifications have been met. Attempting to forcefully access forbidden knowledge may result in mental backlash, temporary memory loss, or complete rejection by the Library itself.
Once a week, The host will be allowed to either erase, or alter a single line out of any of the books available. Thereby erasing or changing history>
Jacob looked at the description, he absolutely loved what he saw, it was something genuinely very unique to him. However, just before he was allowed to dive into the Library of Life, he was called out to by a maiden of the palace.
"Young Lord, your carriage had arrived."
When he heard the voice, he half expected it to be Xenia calling but his guess was correct, she was still very upset with him.
He decided to postpone the expedition into the library to a later time.
The time had arrived for him to leave the Wutherhorn estate, and visit some other place.
Earlier, he felt something go very wrong, something that had unknowingly tipped the balance of the world.
There was impending danger, and he knew that it was related to that monster that stalked him when he initially got to the Wutherhorn’s residence, but he just quietly waved it away.
He walked past the carriage, which was parked just outside the main entrance of the Wutherhorn manor.
Leon lay on his chair, fast asleep. He snored in a way that suggested that he hadn’t slept in days.
’Did he not sleep? I hope he doesn’t pass out during the journey.’ Jacob chuckled in his mind, he knew the man had other things to attend to in his own time and probably needed the rest, so he would not bother him until it was time to leave.
Jacob walked through the halls and once again denied an offer for breakfast from Marilyn herself. He believed the maidens worked in shifts, which was why he hadn’t seen Emily in a while.
No matter, he quickly reached his room and found Xenia on the mattress, already dressed in her leather overalls, her hair was perfectly curled and even though she wore no makeup, she didn’t need any.
"Good morning Young Master, trust your workout went well." She said dryly, her voice devoid of emotion.
At this point Jacob felt like she was doing it out of obligation and not because she was happy to. She was still very visibly upset and hadn’t gotten over her anger yet.
Jacob smiled, it was the only thing he could do, he couldn’t get angry because she was angry. If he did that, he was likely to cause more friction between them. "It was lovely Xenia, I’d have loved for you to join me, but I didn’t want to disturb your beauty sleep." He said almost perfectly.
But the woman did not react, she instead replied flatly again. "It’s okay, I told you I won’t be joining your morning exercises anymore."
Her gaze was focused on her boots as she tied them carefully.
Jacob was lost for words, he cursed inwardly before he spoke. "Okay, I’ll be done freshening up in a minute, just wait for me—"
"I’ll wait in the carriage." She immediately interrupted him and stood up without even looking in his direction, she was already done lacing her boots, she picked up her luggage and in seconds, she was gone.
Jacob stood there dumbfounded, he hadn’t really known the extent of her disproval but now it was clear.
’She’s really one to hold grudges.’ He thought. He only just shook his head and walked into the shower. It was going to be a long journey ahead. Even longer because he had no idea how to appease Xenia.
