Chapter 570: [A Society of Secrets] [17] [Pyramid]
[The Next Morning]
After taking a long cold shower and getting myself dressed in a simple baggy Lenin shirt and black trousers,
as I dried my hair, I walked towards the window and looked up at the sky.
The weird phenomenon that had happened yesterday... the heavy hammering from the other side had stopped completely.
’...What the hell did I even watch.’
The feeling of seeing the starry night sky tremble like that left a deep impression in my mind.
It was a palpable feeling that I hadn’t felt in a while.
Retracting my gaze, I looked inside my room. ’Why would someone do that?’
From what I understood, the thing that was being hammered was the barrier separating the divine Kingdom from Lumina.
Someone was trying to forcefully break the barrier to get inside.
And thinking about it, my first reaction was, ’Esmeray did something so fucked the Gods lost their minds.’
To some extent, that might really be true, but I couldn’t be too sure.
[<...Become a demigod as soon as possible and you will understand the complete picture.>]
’....’
I held back my sigh when I heard the same words that I had heard yesterday.
Instead of explaining to me what was going on, Inna urged me to become a demigod.
’It’s not like I am not trying,’ I grumbled inwardly. ’It’s just my soul is thoroughly fucked.’
Walking out of the room, I entered the hallway and moved towards the main hall.
Christina’s condition had stabilised a little after I ’took’ a small part of her divinity.
Due to her familiarity and the peak condition of her body, Christina was already at the peak of Overlord rank in just a few months.
With Inna’s help, she would most probably reach Eternal rank in a month or two.
Even though I was happy for her gradually increasing strength and ability to protect herself, I still found it rather depressing.
In no time, she had already surpassed her previous strength.
’...I was planning to bully her in bed, but I guess I can only request now.’
When I entered the main hall, I found a girl with long silver hair with a faint undertone of blue.
Her horns, which rested on her head like a crown, gave her a bewitching charm.
Epione looked up when she noticed my gaze and gently nodded her head.
I walked closer and asked, "How is your progress going for the spirit technique?"
The lady looked down for a second before she replied gently, "I’m capable of calling pure spirits, but I can’t guide them."
I nodded my head in response as her progress was still within an acceptable range.
[]
I frowned instinctively when I heard Inna’s cold voice.
’Why?’
[]
I let out a sigh and asked the lady with crimson eyes, "Can you summon one right now?"
Epione hesitated for a second before she nodded her head. "...Okay."
She took in a deep breath, pulled up her legs, and sat comfortably.
She closed her eyes and began humming.
As her voice echoed within the mansion, the place immediately turned silent.
I heard hurried footsteps, and before long, the three spirit children of mine were already beside me.
They listened to the melody of Epione with a serene look on their faces.
Even I was affected by her tune as memories of my young age flashed past my eyes.
During that time, her songs were like an anchor to my broken soul and body.
As I was reminiscing about my past, the air grew... lighter.
A faint shimmer began to gather in front of Epione.
At first, it looked like nothing more than dust catching sunlight until it began to condense.
A small figure, no bigger than a child’s palm, formed in the air.
The thing had no clear face or defined body; it was just a faint outline made of light.
Epione’s humming trembled for a second, and before long, all the spirits around the place vanished.
With an embarrassed smile, Epione opened her eyes and whispered, "I still need to learn more."
I nodded my head and didn’t give any suggestions. With my voice and understanding of music, I might as well have been a toddler in front of her.
At that moment, Iffa, who had been listening to her humming, blinked her eyes and walked forward.
She took Epione’s hand and said with a bright smile, "Will you be my mommy?"
"Huh?"
Epione let out an audible sound.
I turned around and looked away. At the same time, I couldn’t help but notice.
’Where did Aimar go?’
---
Along a wide, black-sanded beach and the rolling banks of the Eufrates River, a city lay sprawled across the landscape.
The city climbed the flank of a slope, with roads made of heavy concrete, but the buildings were old... too old to seem like they belonged to this era.
The sky above was thick with smoke, and the stink of grease and fat hung heavy in the air.
A myriad of ships rocked gently at the bank of the river, their masts swaying in the breeze.
It was the old city that once belonged to the Dronarta Empire, whose Duke was the mad lover Qaisel.
On the edge of the black sand beach, a boy walked with his hands in his pockets.
Aimar looked around the place as he remembered the past.
Back when he was just a student, he had come here on an academy trip.
Aimar smiled when he remembered the chubby guy Seth, whose father loved his mother-in-law.
He rubbed his face and turned to look to his side, where a girl with an eerily similar face to him walked.
Aimar’s face immediately turned cold, and anger filled it.
"Never fucking crossdress in front of me, you stupid fuck." He didn’t hold back at all. "What type of weird retarded fetish did you adopt?"
Oliver, who had turned himself into a girl, smiled sweetly. "Why such a harsh reaction?" he asked. "Don’t tell me you are feeling incestuous all of a sudden."
"I would rather get hanged for eternity than think something like that."
Aimar barked, not hiding the disgust on his face.
Oliver only chuckled in response while he looked at his illusory body.
"Well, I need strength right now."
He mumbled and snapped his fingers.
His body changed, and so did his clothes, turning back to his former self.
The illusion was created by one of the 72 demons he had through Lilith. It could mimic the power of the mask he once had.
Stretching his body, he said in a serious voice, "Are you ready?"
"No." Aimar replied flatly. "And did you change your appearance just to fuck with me?"
Oliver smiled and replied, "Yep."
He didn’t give Aimar time to respond as he put his hand on his shoulder.
The space around them twisted, and the scene began to change.
In one moment, they were above the sea; in the next second, on land.
After a total of five minutes, Oliver finally stopped and pulled his hand away.
Aimar looked around the place and found himself on a primitive island.
He frowned and asked, "Is this where Abaddon is sleeping?"
Oliver nodded his head. "Something like that."
He took the lead and began to walk inside the dense forest.
Aimar walked behind him. "Why did you not take us directly to his body?"
"I can’t do that," he replied. "There are some... beings guarding his body, and there is also the risk of waking him up."
Aimar suddenly froze in his place, his face turning cold as he replied, "You never told me there were other beings here?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" Oliver replied, blinking innocently. "He was one of the strongest in his era; of course, he would have followers."
"And how are you going to deal with them?"
Oliver gave him a genial smile. "Don’t worry, I have many ways."
Saying so, he turned and began to walk once again.
Aimar hesitated for a second before he began to walk behind him.
"...How can you even use space-related powers?"
To ease his tense mind, Aimar started small talk with him.
Oliver remained silent for five seconds before he replied, "Perhaps because we are twins," he said. "Or perhaps Horus and Adam are connected in ways we can’t explain."
His words suggested that he knew more than he was showing.
And Aimar noticed that as well.
He narrowed his eyes and asked, "How much are you Adam and how much are you Oliver?"
The young man only smiled and gave a vague answer. "Maybe that can only be answered by someone who has been with both of them."
[...I do not wish to answer that.]
In his mind, Lilith said in a soft tone.
Oliver didn’t force her and gave her an understanding nod.
The twins fell into silence once again as they kept walking in the forest.
The primitive island wasn’t a silent place; from time to time, they could hear roars and shouts of beasts they didn’t know about.
"The place has been barely touched by anyone in a long time," Oliver said softly. "Perhaps you can find beasts that are long extinct here."
Aimar nodded his head and looked forward when he noticed the forest getting thinner.
They kept walking closer until they finally saw it.
A building that was something that didn’t exist anymore.
It was something that Aimar had seen in his dreams.
It was a pyramid.
