Reincarnated As The Villainess's Son

Chapter 571: [A Society of Secrets] [18] [Angel of Abyss]

It was a pyramid.

The entire thing was made of glossy black marble that reflected the sunlight.

There wasn’t anything on the pyramid; Aimar didn’t see any veins or beasts anywhere around it.

On top of the structure was a smaller golden pyramid that hovered above it silently.

Aimar grimly looked at the pyramid, which eerily resembled what he had ’seen’ in his vision of Horus’ life.

These types of structures were used by the pharaohs and Sons of God in ’his’ world.

’Why would Angel Abaddon make such a building his resting place?’

Aimar looked deeply at the pyramid, but he didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.

’What the hell is the actual relation between my ’his’ world and Lumina?’

After looking at the building for a long second, Aimar turned to stare at his brother, who was patiently waiting for him to adjust his mind.

"Do you—."

"We shouldn’t be talking about such matters right outside," Oliver cut him off with a smile. "I will explain everything to you, but not now."

Aimar wanted to argue. He wanted to say, ’You will just run away again,’ but after a few seconds, he just nodded his head.

’I can’t force information out of him... He is much stronger than me.’

Thinking about the difference between their strength, Aimar felt depressed.

Oliver began to walk towards the pyramid while he waved his hand.

A book made from flesh and blood appeared in his hand, its pages constantly changing.

After a few seconds, it finally stopped, and Aimar felt like a ’cloak’ had been wrapped around him.

Before he could ask, Oliver explained. "Cloak of Concealment. It can hide our existence from demigod guardians inside."

Aimar glanced at the book that floated beside him and asked, "Where did you get that?"

"Lilith made it for me." Oliver’s lips curled up into a dazzling smile. "Perks of having a sugar mommy."

Aimar glared at him, but he didn’t respond.

Oliver reached closer to the pyramid and put his hand on the glossy black wall.

"It should be somewhere here..." he mumbled.

He kept touching different spots until his hand submerged like he was touching a rubbery substance.

Oliver took a step back as the pyramid’s wall began to shift. Without making any sound, a door opened up.

Inside was pitch black, without any source of light. The darkness made Aimar somewhat afraid.

He was about to say something when Oliver pushed him inside the darkness.

’This fucke—!’

When his body entered inside, he didn’t feel any solid surface, and his body began to plummet into the darkness.

He looked up and found the book floating just above him, giving him some relief.

Aimar clenched his jaw, forcing his body to stabilize mid-air.

After what felt like eternity, Aimar finally saw light.

Before he could touch the ground, he felt an invisible force wrap around him, slowing his descent.

He landed gently on a rocky area with a reddish hue everywhere.

Oliver landed by his side and said with a chuckle, "Welcome to hell."

Aimar frowned, but he immediately understood the meaning behind his words.

"Abaddon is sleeping in hell?" he asked, surprised.

"Not really hell," Oliver corrected him. "To be more precise, it’s a sealed space that is cut off from the rest of hell."

When he wasn’t interrupted, Oliver continued, "The place was made from the essence of someone who had mastered space and time."

"Azrael," Aimar muttered in a soft tone.

Oliver smiled and nodded without explaining further.

The information he gathered from Lilith gave him a clear picture about Abaddon, the Angel of the Abyss.

He was an angel assigned by the Creator God to watch over mortals and guide them to hell.

His body was said to be filled with horror; seeing him directly could make a normal person mad.

After the death of the Creator God, he kept faithfully following his duties, but after his battle with Satan, he decided to sleep.

Around that period, the role of guiding souls was transferred to Anubis.

Oliver was rather doubtful of such information.

The arrival of Anubis and many other gods was rather peculiar. They seemed to have been born out of nowhere.

[Back then, Adam suspected that it might have something to do with Azrael.]

Oliver nodded his head and sighed. ’Why does everything lead to Azrael?’

He heard the melodious chuckle of the goddess.

[It’s because everything, including the safety of gods and mortals, was obtained from his sacrifice.]

’Even Gods?’ Oliver asked in a perplexed tone.

[What do you think would happen if the Gods were left unchecked along with the influence of Outer Gods?]

With a look of enlightenment, he nodded his head. ’A hasty end of the world.’

He shook his head and focused back on the task at hand.

Letting the book hover in the sky, he led Aimar through the reddish landscape that seemed endless.

"...There’s no life here," Aimar said, noticing the silence of the place.

"No," Oliver replied. "There was."

He looked at his twin brother. "Then who killed it?"

"Guess?"

Aimar thought for a moment before he replied, "Abaddon."

Oliver nodded his head. "Even though he is sleeping, his mana is still leaking around. That alone is enough to kill low-ranking demons."

Aimar’s brows furrowed slightly as he took in the barren land again.

"...You said there are guardians," Aimar spoke again. "Where are they?"

Oliver stopped in his tracks without answering his question.

He looked at his brother with a serious expression, unlike his usual self.

Without a word, he put his finger over his lips, shaking his head.

Aimar understood his signal and stopped in his tracks without speaking a word.

Slowly, both of them felt a pressure emitting from the horizon.

Before long, two figures that seemed to be patrolling walked towards them.

’...What are those?’

Aimar felt his heart tremble as he looked at those abominations.

They were two tall giants, well over five metres tall.

Their bodies were mostly humanoid, but they had the face of a lion and the tail of a scorpion.

Instead of eyes, they had hollow sockets filled with void.

Both of them walked towards their direction, and their presence made Aimar numb.

But after a few minutes of silence, they walked past them without sparing a glance.

When they were significantly farther away, the twins dared to move.

"....What the hell are those?" Aimar asked in a low voice, fearing they would hear.

Oliver’s eyes were still fixed in the direction the creatures had gone, as if making sure they were truly gone.

"Demigods," he replied, shrugging. "They are the guardians."

Aimar pursed his lips, but in the end, he didn’t say anything else.

The twins began to walk once again before anything else happened.

After a full hour of gruelling walking, they finally reached a crater-like space.

Aimar and Oliver stood at the edge and looked down.

At the centre of the crater was a throne made from the same material as the pyramid.

On the throne sat a ’skeleton’ that had patches of flesh on its body.

Its face was half melted, with bones clearly visible.

On its head was a white crown that emitted a pure light.

[Crown of Light...]

Oliver heard the faint whisper of Lilith in his mind.

It was part of the Origin Crown that was created by Kyr’Vhal and later split into seven crowns.

After staring at the crown for a long second, Oliver focused on the body itself.

’Is he dead?’

He wondered with a confused look on his face.

[He is not. He is just in a state where he isn’t dead or alive. For him, that’s the best way to heal.]

Aimar didn’t take his eyes off the figure.

"...That’s him?"

Oliver gave him a faint nod before he began to slide down the slope of the crater.

Aimar hesitated for a few seconds before he followed behind.

After a few seconds, they reached the base and walked cautiously towards the body.

The inscription of runes carved on the throne made their minds dizzy.

Oliver looked up at the Angel of the Abyss and took in a deep breath.

Carefully, he took out a syringe and a needle to draw his blood.

The throne was at the top of a staircase that Oliver slowly walked up.

The skeleton-like body of Abaddon sat motionless, head slightly tilted downward.

Up close, Oliver could see the face of the angel more clearly along with his enormous body.

’He is definitely taller than two metres.’

Oliver drew in a deep breath and brought the needle close to his flesh.

When he tried to get closer, he felt his instincts trigger.

It was like standing beside something that shouldn’t exist in the same layer of reality as them.

Every instinct in his body was screaming at him to leave.

He ignored the feeling, and the needle touched the Angel’s body.

At that moment, the twins heard a roaring sound from far away.

They both looked in that direction instinctively.

’Fuck.’

Sensing something amiss, he quickly tried to draw the blood.

But when he turned, the Angel of the Abyss was no longer on the throne.

Subconsciously, he looked up into the sky and met a pair of cold, hollow eyes.
