"We will talk once we are out—."

"No, you will not."

A voice cut me off, a rather familiar voice.

I glanced back and found a man standing there with a smile.

"...Uncle."

I crushed the chain in my hand as I stared at the man with silver-platinum hair.

Jones didn’t say anything as I broke all the other chains, freeing Elijah.

Standing back up, I looked at the vessel of Baal.

He had a rather amused look on his face, like he was looking at a rather funny situation.

I tilted my head and said in a hoarse voice, "I will be taking Elijah with me."

Jones still had that smirk on his face as he reached out and patted my shoulder.

"It’s nice to see you grow." His smile died down. "But do you think you are strong enough to stop a demigod?"

Saying so, he exerted pressure on me as a way to suppress me.

I didn’t budge at all, as I gently removed his hand. "I have killed demigods before."

He let out a soft chuckle as Elijah got into a fighting stance.

"Those were not really real demigods." He said, taking a step back. "In every subrank of demigod, one goes through a qualitative change."

His smile turned genial, like he was looking at someone important yet beneath him.

"And a peak demigod can hunt tens of low-level demigods."

I didn’t give him any satisfactory response. All I did was give him a blank look.

"I will be taking Elijah with me." I repeated my previous sentence. "I still have a favor that I can ask of Esmeray. If you want to fight, then I will have to call her."

Jones’ expression contorted as he cast a doubtful gaze at me.

"...You really think Esmeray will fight me just to protect you?"

"You can try." I replied, keeping my voice firm.

Even though I doubted that Esmeray would show up, I didn’t let it show on my face.

Jones kept looking at me before he let out a deep sigh.

"Whatever." He said, his voice amiable. "Elijah is already marked, and do you think you can always protect him?"

He didn’t wait for my reply as he continued.

"Of course not. It won’t be long before you can’t even protect yourself."

Then he smiled gently.

"Even if you hide behind your mother."

"...."

I just gave him a look before I grabbed Elijah’s shoulder and wrapped the space around us.

In an instant, we reached a different place, inside an old house that looked like a haunted house.

"Himmel." Elijah immediately snapped back to reality. "H-heather, I haven’t seen her—."

"Elijah."

A voice echoed from behind him, making him turn.

Behind him stood the princess of the Akasha werewolves, who had grown significantly weaker.

She let out a sigh of relief before she hugged him.

"I was so worried." She whispered in his ears. "I thought, I thought...."

Her words ended in silence as they both embraced each other.

I looked around the room and found an old couple standing on the side.

I gave them a small nod of acknowledgement before I placed my hand on Elijah’s shoulder.

The two of us moved out of the place as the space wrapped around us once again.

As we reached a completely different place that looked like a jungle, I relaxed slightly.

Glancing at the couple, I couldn’t help but frown. "If you guys were in trouble, then you should have informed me!"

They both slowly lowered their heads and didn’t say anything.

I looked at Heather and couldn’t help but ask, "Did you talk with Amaury?"

The lady with wolf ears slowly trembled. She shook her head and replied, "He is no more...the Amaury I know is dead."

’Ah, looks like she finally got back to her senses.’ I thought to myself. ’Did Amaury’s cruelty change her or the thought of losing Elijah?’

I didn’t have time to explore more possibilities as I said to both of them,

"We are returning back home." I glanced at Elijah. "Once there, I will look if I can find the ’mark’ that Jones mentioned."

He nodded in response as I turned around and let my wings unfold behind me.

Taking in a deep breath, I pushed myself up into the sky while leaving them alone.

[]

I tilted my head as I replied. ’Why? Am I going to fight someone?’

After a brief pause she responded.

[<...You will need more than just strength to survive.>]

’....’

As if on cue to her words, my glance shifted upward to the sky.

It wasn’t clear to me when it happened or if it had ever happened.

But at that moment I ’saw’ the sky moving slightly.

’...What the hell is going on?’

---

Once I returned home with Elijah and Heather, I made them return back to his mother.

’It would be better if she saw her child with her own eyes.’

Letting out a sigh, I sat down on the sofa of the main hall, which had gone empty.

There was no one here except the few maids who were cleaning the area.

Taking the opportunity of having this time, I asked Inna, ’What is the difference between a peak and a low demigod?’

The lady remained silent as if rearranging her thoughts before she replied.

[]

I did as she told me and immediately everything around me became dark.

In the darkness, I saw a figure made of the starry sky standing in front of me.

’Holy...Inna?’

"Yes." The figure replied. "This is one of my forms that I once used."

’I never thought you could do that.’

[<...I am gathering more energy and mana from my kingdom into the real world.>]

I frowned inwardly when I heard her words.

’She is gathering her strength? Why?’

Inna didn’t let me ask any questions as she made the darkness around me change.

It became like an endless world with not a single being inside it.

"A low-level demigod is something that doesn’t have a qualitative change." She spoke in a soft voice.

"They do convert their kingdom into a small world, but it doesn’t matter because it’s not a ’real’ world."

She then let a few people be born in the barren place around me.

The people began to move and build civilization like normal humans.

And after a few thousand years, those beings began to pray to different deities.

"To form a real world, you need people who can worship you and give you faith." She explained in a gentle tone.

"That faith is then transferred to the god, strengthening their world."

I frowned as I had heard this topic discussed before.

"I do remember there is some problem with this." I said. "Mainly how demigods and even gods can’t create life in their world."

"That’s when worlds like Lumina come into play." She replied, looking at me.

"The gods gather their followers in this world and then they use their faith to grow stronger."

I gently nodded my head as I got the gist of it. Her answer solved a lot of my previous questions.

"If there is even a single person believing in a god..." I mumbled in a gentle tone. "Then the god can come back from death."

She nodded her head and smiled, or at least that’s what I felt.

"There is also another change that a peak demigod has." She continued. "They get their soul attached to the cosmos."

I looked at her with a confused face. "What?"

She didn’t respond and made me look down where the civilization had gone from the industrial era to the digital era.

Only one thing was common, which was the worshipping of the gods.

"By connecting to the cosmos, the peak demigods send a string of mana into space that carries information about them."

Inna continued as I stared at the civilization. Finally, I looked up and found her eyes on me.

"Even though Earth and Lumina are far apart, why do you think Earth still has myths about Baal, Lilith, Satan, and even me?"

My mouth turned agape as the realization dawned upon me.

Inna chuckled softly and confirmed my theory.

"Yes, the mythological gods on Earth were created from the information we sent about ourselves."

"..."

I quietly nodded and asked, "There must be a side effect to this, right?"

"Yes." She replied instantly. "There are some beings that can pin point the locations of those said gods because of that information."

’....Outer Gods.’

I thought as I more or less understood the difference between a low demigod and a peak one.

’That’s why Jones was so confident.’ I thought to myself. ’As long as Baal has believers, it’s impossible to kill him.’

I let out a sigh before a thought crept into my mind.

’...If the Outer Gods can detect demigods, did they detect Satan or Morningstar in their time under the Creator God?’

The more I thought about it, the more I found it reasonable.

’There is no way a bunch of demigods could kill the Creator God...’

That made me question myself.

’Were the Outer Gods involved in the death of the Creator God?’
