Chapter 543: I Love You, You Love Me 3
Leona Grant followed Stuart’s gaze and saw Annabelle Linton leaning on the balcony, smiling as she watched them.
Her long hair drifted and the hem of her dress billowed in the wind. She had a languid look on her face, a look of simple yet profound contentment.
"Stuart, go tell your mommy to come down."
Leona Grant was a neat freak and had a genuine aversion to cats and dogs; he was allergic to their fur.
It was an exaggeration to say the mere sight of them made him dizzy, but he definitely couldn’t be in close contact with them.
He had never been around animals like that his entire life, but for Annabelle Linton’s sake, he had decided to keep the dog.
To put it bluntly, he was only jealous of the dog because of Aaron Wyatt. In his mind, the dog was a stand-in for Aaron Wyatt.
But Annabelle Linton had chosen him over the dog, agreeing to send Stuart away. In his heart, that was an indirect sign that she had also chosen him over Aaron Wyatt.
’In that case, what more could he ask for?’
The bedroom wasn’t high up, just on the second floor, about three meters off the ground.
Annabelle Linton grabbed a chair, stepped onto it, and then climbed onto the balcony railing.
Seeing her dangerous maneuver, Leona Grant shot to his feet. Standing on the ground below, he shouted nervously up at her, "Annabelle Linton, what are you doing? Get down from there! It’s dangerous!"
A small smile played on Annabelle Linton’s lips. She stepped onto the outdoor air conditioning unit and leaped down, landing safely on the ground.
Leona Grant rushed over to her, his face dark as he scolded, "Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?"
Annabelle Linton just smiled and said nonchalantly, "I’m fine."
Then she opened her arms to Stuart. "Baby, come to Mommy!"
"WOOF WOOF WOOF!" Stuart wagged his tail and leaped into Annabelle Linton’s embrace.
Annabelle Linton caught him in her arms, lovingly ruffling his fur and sniffing him. "Wow, you smell so good, baby! Who gave you a bath?"
Stuart understood the word "bath" because Annabelle Linton gave him one so often.
"WOOF WOOF!" Stuart panted, looking over at Leona Grant.
Annabelle Linton smiled as she looked at Leona Grant.
Leona Grant walked over and stroked her hair. He pulled a few certificates from his pocket—all of them for the dog. "I had his ownership transferred," he said with a smile. "From now on, he’s our son. Look at his collar."
Annabelle Linton looked down at Stuart’s collar. There, in bold letters, were two words: "Ainsworth Grant."
Seeing the name, Annabelle Linton couldn’t help but laugh. "So, you’re not sending him away anymore?" she asked with a grin.
"No. Since you love him, let’s raise him together."
"But aren’t you allergic?"
Leona Grant sighed in resignation. "What can I do? My wife loves him."
Annabelle Linton smiled. "Thank you... From now on, we’ll take him to a pet center every week. We can pick him up on Saturdays and Sundays."
’That way, we won’t have to abandon him.’
Annabelle Linton loved her dog, but he was still a pet, and you couldn’t compare a pet to a person. Since Leona Grant was allergic, it wasn’t necessary to keep Stuart at the house constantly.
It wasn’t that she was being heartless; after all, sending Stuart to a pet center wasn’t the same as abandoning him.
The pet center she would send him to was the best in all of Lynton.
The dogs there lived even better than some people.
Owning a dog was a responsibility, and abandoning one was irresponsible. But whether she was sending him away or just boarding him, Annabelle Linton had always been very responsible.
Leona Grant smiled. "As long as you’re happy. I’ll support whatever you decide."
Annabelle Linton gave him a kiss.
...
The cupboards were bare.
To keep things fresh, groceries for the villa were always bought and prepared on the same day.
The staff had been given time off, so naturally, no one had bought any groceries. The refrigerator was completely empty.
