Chapter 538: She Actually Ignored Him for a Dog
Hearing this, Annabelle Linton lowered her gaze. As she tied the belt at his waist, she frowned in exasperation. "So if I’m not around in the future, does that mean you won’t know how to get dressed?"
Though it was just a casual remark, Leona Grant grew tense. "You just said you wouldn’t leave me!"
Annabelle Linton raised an eyebrow, momentarily speechless. "What I mean is, you need to dress properly, or you’ll catch a cold."
"But you’re here," Leona Grant said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He decided to press the issue. "You’ll help me get dressed, just like right now!"
"..." ’How did we end up back here?’ Annabelle Linton’s brow twitched. Trying to stay calm, she asked with a strained, almost amused tone, "Well, what if I’m not here?"
Hearing this, Leona Grant looked as if he’d just had a grand revelation. "Wow, so you *do* want to leave me!"
Annabelle Linton: "..."
’Enough!’
’For fuck’s sake, it’s just getting dressed! Why is he making it seem like rocket science!’
’He must really have nothing better to do than get hung up on this!’
Annabelle Linton walked forward, her face devoid of expression. Leona Grant rushed to catch up with her. "Annabelle Linton, make yourself clear. Are you trying to leave me?"
"..."
"I knew it. You definitely want to leave me!"
"..."
"You just want to leave me, don’t you? Annabelle Linton, you heartless, unfeeling woman!"
"..."
Annabelle Linton felt as if she were looking at an aggrieved husband who’d been swindled out of his entire fortune and was now questioning his very existence...
’It’d be one thing if he were just joking around, but what the hell is with that heartbroken and furious expression?’
"WOOF WOOF WOOF—"
Seeing Leona Grant yelling at Annabelle Linton, Stuart, eager to protect his owner, rushed forward and barked at him several times.
Only then did Annabelle Linton remember that Stuart was there with them.
"WOOF WOOF WOOF!"
Stuart barked loudly at Leona Grant.
Seeing her boy get agitated, Annabelle Linton squatted down, quickly scooped him into her arms, and soothed him, "There, there, my good boy. It’s okay, it’s okay. Mommy’s here."
"Woof woof..."
Stuart’s barks slowly softened into a plaintive whimper directed at Annabelle Linton.
That poor, innocent look in his eyes was enough to melt anyone’s heart.
Annabelle Linton held him close, giving him a little kiss. "There, there, my sweet boy. Mommy’s here."
"Woof~"
Stuart snuggled contentedly in Annabelle Linton’s arms, rubbing his head against her and looking up at her affectionately.
Annabelle Linton felt as if her heart was filling with little pink bubbles. It completely melted.
She hugged him even tighter and marveled, "My sweetheart... how can you be so adorable..."
"Woof~" Stuart doubled down on the cuteness, nuzzling against her even more.
Standing to the side, Leona Grant’s face was as dark as a thundercloud!
’This woman was actually ignoring him for a dog!’
’She even kissed him, held him, and praised him!’
’She’d never even treated *him* like that.’
’Damn it, in her heart, was he less important than a dog?!’
’If he remembered correctly, wasn’t this the dog that Annabelle Linton and Aaron Wyatt had raised together?’
’He seemed to recall seeing this dog right around the time he and Annabelle Linton divorced.’
’Annabelle Linton called herself this dog’s mommy.’
’Then what about Aaron Wyatt?’
’The daddy?’
’Fuck!’
’Where the hell did this damn dog come from? He knew it—anything that had to do with Aaron Wyatt was bad news!’
’What was this? The daddy can’t be here, so he sent the "son" to stand guard?’
’Son of a bitch, just drop dead!’
And when he saw Stuart rubbing his head against Annabelle Linton’s chest, it was as if he were seeing Aaron Wyatt burying his own face in her bosom!
At that thought, Leona Grant completely lost it. He roared at Annabelle Linton, "Annabelle Linton!"
